Chapter 519 I Will Give Myself to You, Okay? (1)

As a doctor, Wendy didn't panic for too long. Occupational instinct prompted her to calm down.

She grabbed Gavin's hand and said, "Don't move. I'll get you a medical kit and bandage your wound."

"Bandage?" Zhong Lue sneered. "You'd better call an ambulance!"

Zhong Lue rushed toward them with the knife again, aiming to strike a fatal blow at Gavin before Wendy could notice it-

Gavin had been used to fighting and brawling since his early youth. He had also been inured to open fights between factions, since he had worked for Brian and Wesley.

The last time he had gotten injured in a fight was more than a decade ago-his opponent was Wesley back then.

In his eyes, Zhong Lue wasn't even qualified to be his opponent, let alone be able to cut his hand with a knife!

Gavin pushed Wendy aside while a murderous look flashed across his eyes. He halted Zhong Lue with one arm and wrested the knife from him with a quick movement.

His movements were risky although he was agile, which scared Wendy, who had thought that he was going to stop the knife with his bare hands. She widened her eyes and subconsciously covered her mouth with both hands.

Gavin sighed to himself as he caught a glimpse of Wendy-he realized that it would frighten her if he didn't end the fight as soon as possible.

With that, Gavin lifted his right leg and kneed Zhong Lue hard.

Zhong Lue was hit in the most vulnerable part of his body. He immediately felt a sharp pain and let out a howl while bending down.

Gavin looked at the wound in his right hand and struck Zhong Lue harder, which gave him unbearable pain.

"Gavin!" Zhong Lue glared at Gavin with hands the hurt area. "Stay here if you dare. I'll call my men here!"

He thought it was easy to ask others for help whenever he lost in a fight because many people were willing to be beaten up on his behalf and in the name of the powerful Lopez Family-that was the reason why Zhong Lue had always been a bully in Arlington.

Gavin wasn't afraid at all. He whipped out handkerchief and casually bandaged his wound. "I will gladly wait." With that, he looked at Zhong Lue with a calm smile.

Wendy was worried.

She wondered, "Zhong Lue will call his men here. Why doesn't Gavin leave?"

"How could Gavin fight against them once they outnumber him even if he's good at fighting?"

Wendy didn't dare to utter a word, nor did she know what his plan was because Gavin looked quite calm.

Zhong Lue suddenly realized that there had to be many of Gavin's friends there as he took out his cellphone to dial. He thought that Gavin's friends would surround them once his men went after him; that was why Gavin could keep calm.

However, the key reason was that-it was Chris's wedding.

Few would dare to make trouble at Chris's wedding because he was as honored as Brian was in the business circles of Arlington.

However, Zhong Lue thought it would be embarrassing if he didn't call his men there since he had threatened to do that.

Zhong Lue thought for a while and finally decided to call his father-the chairman of the Zhong Group.

Zhong Lue was sure that Gavin would fear his father since even Brian had to pay obeisance to him father because of the cooperation between the Zhong Group and Lambert Group.

After hanging up, Zhong Lue stared at Gavin with a sneer, which was meant to say, "You're in trouble."

Gavin didn't take it seriously.

He knew what Zhong Lue was thinking about.

He thought that Zhong Lue didn't know Brian well enough, although they had cooperated for a long time.

Brian's obeisance to the elderly didn't mean that he would turn a blind eye when someone bullied his cousin.

Those who worked for Lambert Group all knew that Brian had always shielded his friends and relatives from being bullied.

Not long after, Old Master Zhong arrived.

The old man, who had gone through ups and downs in the business circles for decades, was wearing an expensive tailored suit. He walked toward them with firm steps that only belonged to those powerful people who were in high positions, looking cold and serious.

"What happened?"

Old Master Zhong glared at Gavin. His deep and powerful voice was full of a unique majesty of the elderly, which made people involuntarily admire him.

However, Gavin didn't seem to fear Old Master Zhong. He shrugged and said, "Mr. Zhong, a kid lost in his fight with another and went home to get his mother in tears. That's the main gist of it." His words were full of sarcasm, although his voice sounded casual.

Old Master Zhong gave him a warning look and said, "Special Assistant Gavin, don't forget who you are!" He was telling Gavin to pay obeisance to him because of his high status.

Gavin said with a smile, "Mr. Zhong, I'll never forget that the Zhong Group is a partner of Lambert Group. I heard that you've worked for several days without rest to prepare for the cooperation plan. Is that true?"

"What are you talking about?" asked Old Master Zhong with a sour look.

"No big deal." Gavin sighed. "Young Master Zhong is 30 years old, isn't he? It's a pity that he can't deal with a project himself at such an age. Otherwise, you shouldn't have worked hard in your old age, should you?"

"Gavin!" Zhong Lue burst out with ire, "What do you mean by that?"

Gavin smiled and said, "Young Master Zhong, just calm yourself down. Those shareholders of the Zhong Group lost confidence in you after you messed a project up, didn't they? But you're still young, and they won't doubt your ability all the time if you try to do something for your company in the next eight or ten years. Take it easy and don't hurry. Anyway... it's a long way to go."

His words were full of sarcasm, although it seemed that Gavin was trying to comfort Zhong Lue.

The young and aggressive Zhong Lue couldn't stand such provocation at all. He rushed toward Gavin in a rage and shouted, "Gavin, I'll kill you!"

Gavin looked fearless.

He would never allow his son to act rashly at that moment if he were Old Master Zhong.

The reason was that killing him in fury was equivalent to admitting that he was right and that Zhong Lue was incompetent.

As expected, Old Master Zhong shouted to stop his son. "Ah Lue!"

His knuckles paled as Zhong Lue clenched his fists. "Dad!"

"Come here!" Old Master Zhong glared at Gavin. "Call Brian and ask him to handle his subordinate!" He was sure that Brian would severely punish Gavin for disrespecting him.

Zhong Lue immediately got his father's point and called Brian as Old Master Zhong told him to.

Wendy walked behind Gavin and gave him a confused look.

She didn't want Gavin to be punished because of that.

She thought that Gavin didn't deserve to be punished because he had stood up for her when she tried to stop Zhong Lue from molesting the hotel waitress.

Gavin motioned for Wendy not to worry.

He knew Brian better than Old Master Zhong since he had worked for Brian for many years.

The waitress arrived with Gavin's other friends before Zhong Lue could get through to Brian.

Gavin had always visited the hotel because of business reasons, and he had sometimes called to get rooms arranged for his friends, who were known to the waiters there as time passed, and his friends had often been well treated as a result.

A large group of people gathered as soon as the waitress told them that Gavin was fighting with Zhong Lue.

However, they hadn't expected that Old Master Zhong would show up.

They had originally decided to teach Zhong Lue a lesson since he had gone to the wedding alone.

They thought that they would only get a criminal record after solving the problem between them and the Lopez Family according to the law, which was the least of their worries since they had always been detained because of car racing.

As for Chris, they thought that he wouldn't do anything to them if they tried their best to apologize since Gavin was the assistant of his brother-in-law.

However, things had become complicated because Old Master Zhong was there.

Old Master Zhong was honored as a father figure in the business circles, so they would never dare to beat his son up in front of him, no matter how bold they were.

Gavin simply motioned for them to calm down when his friends cast a helpless look at him.

"Who is it?" There came Brian's low voice from Zhong Lue's cellphone at that very moment.

"Brian, it's me," said Old Master Zhong.

"Old Master Zhong?" Brian was surprised, but soon he asked in a calm voice, "What's the matter?"

"Some private matter," Old Master Zhong said crossly, "Your assistant called a group of men to beat my son up. You know how to deal with it."

Brian thought for a while and said, "Old Master Zhong, it's not what you think, is it?"

"What do you mean by that?" asked Old Master Zhong in an angry voice.

"I want to say that Gavin isn't an unreasonable person," Brian said slowly, "Tell me the details first if you want me to solve the problem."

"I will tell you!" The waitress stepped forward and shouted on the cellphone, "Mr. Brian, I'm a waitress working in the hotel. It's all because of me. No one knows the whole thing better than me!"

Old Master Zhong could tell what had happened when he saw the waitress since he knew his son well. He gave Zhong Lue a stare with tough love. Zhong Lue felt guilty and decided to hang up.

"Manager Zhong, could you please put the waitress on the phone?"

Brian's words had stopped Zhong Lue from hanging up in time.

Zhong Lue had no choice but to hand the phone to the waitress.

"Mr. Brian, here's the thing. Mr. Zhong was drunk just now. I stopped him when he was about to enter the powder room. But he said he would double my salary and force me to go to the room upstairs with him. Miss Moore helped me and pushed him away. She asked me to call for help and I did, although I don't know what happened here in the meantime."

"Wendy? Did Zhong Lue do anything to you?" asked Brian in a cold and serious voice.

Wendy cast a glimpse at Zhong Lue and saw the fear in his eyes.

"Haha," she thought to herself.

"I must play act now that Zhong Lue is cowering. His fear deserves my acting, doesn't it?"
