Chapter 526 You Shouldn't Be so Overbearing

Dolly came up with an idea. Then she asked Wendy, "Gavin isn't your cup of tea. So who's your type?"

"Anyone like my cousin-in-law!" Wendy blurted out without thinking.

Wendy thought that they wouldn't find the second Brian in the world since the only one they knew had already married Joanne.

"Mom won't say anything more about it, will she?"

However, no one knows a daughter better than her mother. Dolly calmly asked, "What do you like about your cousin-in-law?"

Wendy smiled and said firmly, "He's handsome!"

Dolly knew that Wendy was talking nonsense. However, she didn't want to unmask her daughter. She simply said, "Let me introduce you to a young man like him."

That was beyond Wendy's expectations. She blinked and then shook her head decisively. "No! I won't love any young men unless they're either as excellent as my cousin-in-law or better than him!"

Dolly poked Wendy in the forehead. "You spoke as if your cousin-in-law would like you."

Wendy felt embarrassed. "Am I any worse than my cousin?"

"If nothing else, you're not Joanne. That's why you'll never meet the expectations of your cousin-in-law!" Then Dolly said with a serious look, "Well, stop joking. The young man is my old friend's son. I know his family well. He has a good upbringing. You can meet him first and then try to start a relationship with him if you think he's nice. Maybe you'll want to marry him in the end."

"No!" Wendy yelled without hesitation. "In the past, you asked me not to start a relationship with anyone, and I followed your advice. Now I don't want to start a relationship with anyone, and you have to respect my choice! Ms. Su, a philosopher once said that a person shouldn't be too overbearing..."

Dolly thought for a moment, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. "Okay, I'll arrange it for you."

Wendy thought that Dolly meant more than that. She grabbed her bag and said, "I'm going back to my apartment!"

"Aren't you going to stay here with me?" asked Dolly.

Wendy snorted and said, "I'm afraid that you will introduce me to any man that passes by!" Then she stormed out with her bag in hand.

The fact was that she would do as Dolly said even if she arranged for her to have a blind date.

The main reason why she hastened to leave was that she had to help Gavin change his dressing early the next morning.

She thought it would be embarrassing if her mother knew that she would help Gavin change his dressing since she had told her mother that she didn't like him. She left early so that others wouldn't see her when she went to Gavin's house the next day.

Wendy received a call from Chris on her way back. He asked if she and Dolly had reached the hotel.

"Gavin drove us back," replied Wendy and countered with a question, "Cousin, when is your flight tomorrow?"

"At 11 o'clock in the morning." Chris asked, "What about your mom? When is she leaving for Australia?"

"She told me that she would go back as soon as your wedding is over," Wendy thought for a moment and said, "She'll leave in a few days. Take it easy and enjoy your honeymoon. Mr. Lambert will help to arrange it even if my father doesn't when my mom sets off."

"Gavin will help you even if Brian doesn't," Chris said with a meaningful smile, "I can count on him."

Wendy muttered, "What does it have to do with Gavin?"

"Don't you know?" With that, Chris hung up without waiting for Wendy's reply.

Chris and Freya were in their room at the hotel.

Upon seeing Chris lay down his cellphone, Freya walked over to him and asked, "What did Wendy say?"

"Gavin drove her and my aunt back to their hotel." Chris turned around and gazed gently at Freya.

"I just found out that-" Freya continued with a mysterious tone, "Your Marthakes Gavin very much!"

Chris said leisurely, "Wendy likes him more."

"..." Freya didn't know what to say. After a while, she said to Chris, "You won. But, will you say no if Wendy starts a relationship with Gavin?"

"No," Chris said with a calm look, "I know Gavin well. They'll live a happy life."

"Then I'm relieved." Freya then suddenly asked, "It's time for them to express their feelings for each other, isn't it?"

"It's only a matter of time." Chris gazed at Freya with deep love. "Shouldn't you care more about us for now?"

"About us?" Freya looked at Chris with confusion. Finally, she bit her lips while smiling shyly as if she had read his mind. "It's still early..."

Chris bowed his head with a graceful smile as if he were going to kiss her lips. However, he suddenly patted her head and said, "What are you thinking about? Change your dress. Mom and dad are waiting for us downstairs."

Freya felt embarrassed. She said with a serious look, "I'm not thinking about anything. Your look confused me!"

With that, she ducked into the coatroom to put on her casual clothes. After that, she went downstairs with Chris.

"Dad, Mom!" Freya ran to them as soon as she saw Mr. Norris and Mrs. Norris, who had been waiting in the hotel lobby.

Mrs. Norris looked at Freya with love while giving her a helpless look. "What a rash married girl. Be sedate, will you?"

Freya didn't take it seriously. She held Chris's hand and said, "He's sedate, and that's enough!" She thought that their lives would be like daily business meetings if she were as sedate as Chris.

Mrs. Norris decided to stop reproving Freya because she believed that Chris would tolerate her daughter. She pushed two suitcases over to them and said, "Your baggage just arrived. We're not going to drive you to the airport tomorrow. Call us to let us know you're safe after you deplane."

"Okay!" Freya nodded. Then she suddenly said, "Mr. Norris, why not take a few days off and travel with my mom?"

Mrs. Norris waved her hands before Mr. Norris could say anything. She said, "Your wedding tired us out. I need a rest to get refreshed. Enjoy your honeymoon and... bring us good news when you return."

Freya and Chris both knew what her mother meant by saying "good news".

However, Freya didn't want a baby for the time being, and Chris respected her choice. Freya had always deliberately avoided talking about having a baby, except that Mrs. Norris had occasionally mentioned it.

However, they were supposed to have a baby after they got married in the eyes of the older generation.

Freya realized that she couldn't avoid the topic for the rest of her life, even though she could temporarily avoid it.

She cast a pleading look at Chris-she thought that her mother would let her go if Chris mediated between them, since her mother had already regarded him as her son.

Chris immediately got Freya's point. He held her shoulder and said, "Dad, Mom, we... will do it as soon as possible."

Upon hearing his words, Mrs. Norris took it for granted that Chris also wanted to have a baby. She smiled with relief and said, "Have a good rest. Don't miss your flight tomorrow. I'm going back with your dad."

Freya walked Mr. Norris and her mother out of the hotel. She dropped her shoulders as they drove away, and then she turned around to enter the hotel.

Chris stopped her.

"Aren't you going back?" The confused Freya said with a teasing smile, "Are you going to stay here to add luster to the hotel?"

"Why do you want to go back?" Chris checked the time. "Gavin and the others will come here before ten o'clock tonight."

Only then did Freya realize that the last part of their wedding was waiting for them-playing in the bridal chamber.

She and Chris wouldn't be at peace in the first half of the night if they stayed in the hotel.

Freya felt as if all the cells in her body were shouting to refuse it. She looked at Chris and asked, "Where are we going?"

Chris asked someone to drive his car there, and then he told the hotel manager, "Show them our best when Gavin and the others return. It's included in my wedding expenses. However, don't tell them that Freya and I are not here."

The manager nodded, without asking where Chris and Freya would go. He silently watched their car leave.

Upon seeing their car running farther and farther away from the hotel, Freya felt both curious and confused. "Where on earth are we going?"

Chris tapped his lean fingers on the steering wheel with a mysterious smile. "You'll know when we get there."

The car ran toward a certain direction in the city and stopped at a well-known villa district after 30 minutes.

The city had been at war a hundred years in the past, and dozens of beautiful western-style houses had been built there, where many notables had lived.

At the moment, each of the western-style houses there was worth a fortune.

Freya remembered that Joanne had said that she wouldn't marry anyone if it wasn't Brian and she would buy a house there to enjoy her old age in peace.

"But I'm not so obsessed with the houses here as Joanne. Why did Chris bring me here?"

Chris saw from Freya's look that she didn't recall anything. However, he was in no hurry. He took Freya's hand and walked into one of the houses, then he leisurely asked, "Does it ring a bell?"

"Why?" Freya didn't get Chris's point at all. "By the way, when did you buy this house? How come I didn't know?"

"I bought it a few years ago," Chris said, "Joanne had yet to marry Brian at the time. She said that she liked the houses here, so I bought one."

"Then why did you buy this one?" Freya felt confused. "There are so many houses here."

Chris frowned. "Don't you remember anything?"

Freya suddenly found that some parts of it looked familiar as she glanced around the house. She thought back and finally realized-it was the place where she had met Chris for the first time.

It was where she had fallen in love with Chris, and from then on she began to pursue him.

Freya looked at Chris with disbelief. "Why did you buy it?"
