Chapter 543 She Didn't Get a Grassland for the Wild Horse She Loved

Gavin had met Brian before he was 20 years old. Still, he had much more love experiences than Brian and Wesley combined.

Unexpectedly, Brian had never seen Gavin worried about his relationships.

Gavin had always wooed all the girls he was interested in without hesitation like Freya usually did. The two both thought that it was natural to pursue what they liked.

The difference was that Freya had been infatuated with Chris for over 10 years, while Gavin's passion for a girl had never lasted for more than 100 days.

He had always ended his relationships without hesitation and bought enough luxuries to comfort the girl after he had lost interest.

Once, a girl went to Gavin in tears, saying that she wanted to get back together with him because she couldn't forget him.

Gavin simply said, "I bought a limited edition Chanel bag and the latest edition Givenchy bag for you. What else do you want? Just tell me."

The girl froze for a moment, and then she cried even louder, "I've long wanted a set of La Mer!"

Gavin had what she wanted sent to her within 30 minutes and warned her in a cold voice, "Never again. Keep yourself out of my sight."

There had been girls who were sincere to Gavin over the years.

After all, Gavin said that he was most afraid of the sincere girls who didn't want any luxuries or expensive cosmetic products over him.

He had always said to them with confusion, "There is only one Gavin in the world. How could I give myself to you?"

Those girls couldn't understand Gavin's point at all, and they even thought that his words made sense. In the end, they warned him that he would receive retribution sooner or later and left him in despair.

Now it seemed that Gavin's retribution had come.

He became hesitant instead of unrestrained. He began to wonder whether this beloved girl adored him or not, nor was he sure if they would have a happy ending.

He still wanted to seek confirmation from Brian, although he knew that he would be ridiculed-"Does Wendy also like me?"

Brian didn't answer him at once. He slowly opened a document and read a few lines before he said, "She has always liked you."

Gavin was stunned. "What?"

Brian said again, "Wendy has always liked you."

Gavin realized that he hadn't been mistaken.

"So, the damned girl likes me," he thought.

He felt like he could burst with joy.

It was like a firework lighting up the night sky all of a sudden. He felt as if his world had been filled up with extraordinary radiance.

Gavin couldn't help laughing. He looked up and saw the bright sunshine outside, the colorful light of which bounced off the glass, looking rather dazzling.

It turned out that life was beautiful, and so was the world.

Everything in the world was extremely cute in Gavin's eyes at that moment. He would have laughed out loud if he weren't in Brian's office.

After a time, Gavin gradually calmed himself down. He solemnly cleared his throat and asked, "How do you know?"

Brian snorted, "More than that, it was known to all the people who know you and Wendy."

"Is that so?" Gavin asked with disbelief, "Then why didn't I know?"

Brian said leisurely, "The onlooker sees most of the game..."

"Oh, yes, I've involved myself with a damned girl!" Gavin couldn't hold back his smile. He thought for a while and stared at Brian in bewilderment. "Now that all of you knew about it, why didn't anyone tell me? I'm your friend!"

"Damn it! Brian and the others must have seen how hesitant I've been these days. Why didn't they give me a hint?" he thought to himself.

"Then I wouldn't have been trapped in it!"

Brian kneaded his temples. It seemed that he was either disappointed or having a headache. "I'm sorry, we overestimated your IQ."

Gavin was silent.

There were two things Gavin hated to hear: his appearance being belittled, and being questioned about his IQ.

However, he didn't seem to be angry when Brian spoke bluntly. Unexpectedly, he gave a more brilliant smile.

In the end, he didn't mind being questioned about his IQ because he finally knew that Wendy adored him. He thought that there was no point in arguing about his IQ since facts spoke louder than words.

"I'll say, how could there be a girl in the world who wouldn't like me, right?" he thought.

Gavin had always been a dedicated and professional man in the company, although he looked completely different when he was off duty. It was the first time that Brian had seen this kind of relieved and satisfied expression on his face. He suddenly realized that Gavin had fallen in love.

Nonetheless, he was lucky to fall in love with Wendy.

Brian asked, "What are you going to do next?"

"Tell her that I love her," Gavin said without hesitation as he pictured the scene. "By the way, I've never done that to a girl. Could you please give me some advice?"

Brian said with a helpless look, "Wendy is unlike Joanne."

"I'm different from you." Gavin asked, "You made Joanne so angry that she left in a huff before you could confess your love to her, didn't you?"

Back then, Joanne went to a small town in City Z that was far away from him. She was even trapped on a mountain because of a typhoon and almost lost her life.

Upon hearing the last thing he wanted to talk about, Brian made a sour face. "Do you think that you will get along well?"

Gavin was silent again.

He was facing a harsh reality-he had angered Wendy.

After thinking for a while, Gavin said, "I want to give Wendy a surprise that she will never forget! I think she'll forgive me if I do that."

Brian calmly handed a document to Gavin, "You'll have to reach a deal with the MR Group before you do that. Miley and Yuan Xun will come here for a meeting tomorrow."

"Speaking of Miley," Gavin asked with curiosity, "Did you ask Joanne about it after you went home last night?"

"Do you remember that the other day I sent her back to the hotel after she got drunk at the party?" Brian asked, "Someone took photos of us and sent them to Joanne the next day."

Gavin thought for a while and found that it had been a long time. He asked in bewilderment, "Didn't Joanne quarrel with you when she saw those photos?"

"Do you think that Joanne is as silly as you?" After a pause, Brian said, "She thought that someone had sent those photos to her on purpose."

Gavin nodded, "I agree with the second half of your words. And then?"

"And I'd like you to find out who sent the photos to Joanne," Brian gave Gavin a task with ease.

Gavin was speechless. "Damn!"

"In return, I'll ask Joanne to keep an eye on Wendy so that you can take your time and figure out a plan," Brian said, "What do you think?"

It wasn't a good deal. It wouldn't be easy for him to find out who had sent Joanne those photos because it had been a long time since she had received them.

Yet, no one could help Gavin to know about Wendy's whereabouts other than Joanne.

After pondering over it for a while, Gavin agreed to the unfair deal and took the document away.

Brian picked up his cellphone and called home after his office door was closed. Joanne answered the call.

He rarely called home at that time of day. Joanne asked in surprise, "What's wrong? Did you forget anything at home?"

"No, it's about Gavin and Wendy." Brian told Joanne about what Gavin had told him in detail.

Joanne was surprised as he finished his words. She laughed and said, "I can't believe that Wendy dared to question Gavin. She is much braver than I thought."

"Actually, she's braver than you." Brian smiled. "Why didn't you question me?" He had forced kisses on Joanne many times before.

Joanne said leisurely, "Oh, I thought you were trying to feel me up!"

Brian was quiet.

Joanne was more interested in Gavin and Wendy, so she asked with curiosity, "And what? What's Gavin going to do?"

Brian thought for a while and decided not to tell Joanne about it. He simply said, "Gavin said that he had plans. You only need to keep an eye on Wendy for the next few days."

"She must be very sad now." Joanne thought for a while and said, "That's it. I'm going to call her."

She hung up before Brian could say anything more. He looked at his cellphone with a helpless smile, and then laid it down to continue his work.

In the Lambert Family villa, Joanne found Wendy's number and called her.

Wendy was still in the taxi at that time.

The taxi inched its way through the morning rush hour traffic. All the vehicles on the road seemed to have broken down, repeatedly honking wildly.

Wendy leaned her head against the window, uninterested in anything around her, let alone the traffic jam.

It was the first time that she had fallen in love with a man.

She didn't regret it, however, she hoped if only it weren't Gavin. In that case, she would have enjoyed the romantic moments like having meals, going shopping, and watching movies with him, which were what normal couples usually did in a relationship.

However, she felt as if she had fallen in love with a wild horse, but she wasn't able to get a grassland for it.

"How unlucky I am," she thought to herself.

Her cellphone rang before Wendy burst into tears.

It was Joanne calling.

Wendy rubbed her eyes as she said, "Hello, Cousin."

"Wendy, you're off work, aren't you?" Joanne said in a gentle voice, "Come to my house for breakfast. The chef made your favorite soup dumplings."
