Chapter 572 Handsome Boys are Scarce Resources, It's Better to Store Some in Advance

Gavin pursed his lips and ruffled Wendy's hair with a smile. "Stupid girl."

Wendy pretended to refuse and patted Gavin's hand. "One's hair can be cut off, but can't be messed. Take your hand away!"

"You can consider this as a hairstyle?" Gavin did not hesitate to hit Wendy's hair hard. "At most it's just a straw nest!"

Wendy glared at Gavin and reluctantly retaliated, "Yours is a pig's nest!" Then she fiddled with her black and straight hair a few times, "Don't you understand that the best style is a natural one? Perhaps there will be a lot of handsome men to talk to me later!"

Gavin made a tut-tut sound and subconsciously wanted to pat Wendy's head, but suddenly realized that he was in no position to be angry.

Wendy was a person who had the personal freedom. She would meet a man who was in love with her someday. There would be someone holding her hand and walking into the wedding auditorium. There would be someone who would promise her a lifetime and give her a warm home.

As for Gavin, in the whole process, he could only act as a medium who would bestow his blessings on Wendy.

Thinking about it, Gavin took back his hand, and the smile at the bottom of his eyes was somewhat obscure. "You came here today to get to know the handsome men?"

"It seems that you are not here for a romantic encounter." Wendy looked as if she had seen through Gavin and complained, "If you can pick up a girl, why can't I get to know a few handsome men?"

"Yes, you can." Gavin raised his eyebrows and restored his usual elegant and confident appearance. "But I advise you not to hold too much hope. I am the only one here who is so handsome."

"..." Wendy really wanted to complain, but... what Gavin said seemed to be right. So she could only look at Gavin ignorantly and unwillingly.

Gavin was very satisfied with Wendy's reaction. He lifted the corner of his mouth and patted Wendy's head. Then he walked out of the room.

He and Wendy could no longer stand shoulder by shoulder. There was always a person who had to go first.

When the door was about to close, Gavin looked back at Wendy's back. His eyes were deep and sharp, but he could not see anything from Wendy's back.

However, he still felt that something was wrong.

Before Gavin could figure out anything, the black door of the private room had closed silently, blocking his sight away.

Gavin no longer thought about it, continuing the plan he had made a long time ago-turning around and integrating into a group of men and women who were reveling in the carnival.

In the private room-

Even though she knew that the door had been closed, and Gavin could not see her, Wendy still stood in the same place, motionless.

Looking at Gavin's appearance, he should have believed in her words. Even if Dolly announced Gavin's identity in public, they wouldn't be so embarrassed in the future.

This was exactly what she wanted, but why did it make her unhappy after she had reached her goal?

This time, it was really impossible for her and Gavin to be together again. For the rest of their lives, they could only call each other brother and sister.

Wendy's eyes were filled with a feeling of gloominess, and she could only close her eyes hard and force herself to draw back her tears.

She did a good job in the act just now and successfully fooled Gavin. If she cried now, all her previous efforts would be in vain.

Wendy bit her red lips, clenched her hands into fists, and took enough courage to push open the door of the private room and went out.

It would be best to forget it temporarily by getting out and veering her attention to something else.

But Wendy never thought that Connell was just outside the door of the private room.

She was afraid that she would accidentally reveal her feelings and she subconsciously wanted to wipe the corner of her eyes, But then suddenly she reacted and thought, "If I wipe the corner of my eyes, it will be an obvious hint!"

Connell was doing market promotion, so he was much more sensitive to details than ordinary people. He saw that there was something wrong with Wendy at a glance and approached her. "You..." He intended to speak but stopped on the second thought.

In order to not expose her emotions, Wendy met Connell's gaze and looked at him carefully. Suddenly, she said, "Hey, I found that you are good-looking!"

"You've just discovered it until now?" Connell's face was filled with regret. "You're just too insensible! However, it's not too late!"

"It's really not late." Wendy compressed her lips and smiled. "Introduce a few handsome guys to me!"

"... How could a doctor be so short-sighted!" Connell poked Wendy's head, "The most handsome man is standing in front of you, and he likes you very much. Who else do you want to know?"

Wendy naturally ignored what Connell said in the middle and blinked her eyes, "Handsome man is a rare resource. I can get to know more of them as a backup!"

"Ha, you're pretty good at Mandarin." Connell narrowed his eyes and stared at Wendy. Just from her facial features alone, Wendy was still the same Wendy of the past, without any changes. However, she was clearly different somewhere.

Connell couldn't think of a reason. He shook his head and said, "Today... you and Gavin are weird."

Hearing Gavin's name, Wendy subconsciously wanted to ask about more about him.

Fortunately, at the last moment, Wendy realized that she couldn't be like this anymore. She forcibly suppressed the impulse, and hummed softly, "Even if you don't help me, I can make it by myself!" After that, she left Connell a chic back and disappeared into the noisy crowd in a blink of an eye.

Connell remembered that two hours ago, Gavin suddenly appeared in the bar.

He once thought that Gavin would no longer join in this kind of fun, so he teased, "Why are you here? Aren't you afraid that your girlfriend will be angry?"

Gavin looked at him and said, "Make a phone call and ask Wendy to come over."

Connell thought he had misheard him, "You... want me to contact Wendy?"

Gavin twisted his eyebrows and said with some impatience and danger in his tone, "Is there something wrong with your hearing, or that I didn't make it clear enough?"

From the time he knew Gavin till now, Connell had felt that Gavin was a person who was good at controlling emotions. He never expressed his emotions on his face easily, so it was astounding of him to show his dissatisfaction directly like this to Connell.

With a mentality of watching a play, Connell readily agreed to Gavin's request. But, Gavin added, "Don't tell her that I am here, and don't let her know that I asked you to call her here."

"You're in conflict with each other!" Connell was firm and happy to hear that. "That is to say, I can take advantage of it!"

Unexpectedly, Gavin did not use a dangerous look to attack Connell. He just glanced at Connell and then walked towards the direction of the bar.

Then, Connell called Wendy and lured her over.

However, things were a little out of Connell's expectations.

Gavin and Wendy had just begun. He should regard Wendy as the only one, but he flirted with others in the bar. And Wendy, who should have been angry while witnessing the scene, did not show any sign of anger, and she could even be considered as calm and quiet.

Things should not develop like this. According to Gavin's character, the prey that was targeted by him, either would be conquered by him or would automatically get into his arms. It shouldn't be like the current peaceful state between him and Wendy.

"It's so weird!"

Connell's curiosity burst forth and he found Wendy in the crowd. She was having a good time with several groomsmen and bridesmaids from Chris's wedding.

They were all in the same circle. When they saw Connell, they reached out to greet him. "Connell, come over. This game is very interesting."

Connell waved his hand, indicating that he was not interested, and then he asked Wendy alone, "Are you okay?"

In fact, what Connell wanted to ask was, "Are you both alright?" But the relationship between Wendy and Gavin was unclear for now. He thought about it and concluded that it was better not to make it so clear, so that it wouldn't embarrass Wendy.

Wendy did not understand and looked at Connell with a strange expression, "Do I look like something is wrong?"

"No." Connell crossed his arms over his chest, but his eyes were extremely sharp. "But it doesn't look like it's all right. Tell me, did anything happen?"

"..."

Wendy looked eagerly at Gavin, and she was almost about to speak.

She really needed someone to talk about all her grievances and worries. Otherwise, the truth of being siblings with Gavin would ferment in the bottom of her heart and cause a big disaster one day.

However, it was obvious that Connell wasn't the right person to have a talk with.

Connell saw the struggle in Wendy's eyes and softly coaxed her, "We are all comrades-in-arms in the same trench anyway, what else do you have to hide from me?"

Wendy did not fall for it and revealed a bright smile,"Why do you still ask? Do I really look like something is wrong?"

Connell pointed at a group of people who were playing games not far away and said, "I know that you are not on the same path as them. But today, why do you suddenly want to play with them?"

"It sounds like I've suddenly changed genetically." Wendy spread out her hands lightly. "Recently, several patients have been accepted in the department. Ranging from chief physicians to intern doctors like us, everyone is under a lot of pressure. The family's expectation is too high, but no one can guarantee that the patients can recover and leave the hospital. I just found a way to let myself relax. Is there any problem?"

Her words were impeccable, and there were no loopholes in her expression. Connell had no choice but to admit, "There's nothing wrong."

"There is no problem all the time. It's just that you think too much." Wendy shrugged her shoulders and said, "Also, I just didn't want to play before."

Connell replied with an "oh" and said, "So you want to play now?"

"Yes!" Wendy nodded, and her beautiful eyes sparkled, "The youth deserves to be enjoyed. If one can live her life happily, why not!"

After saying that, she turned back to the game and returned to the crowd with a bright smile on her face.

Right at this moment, Gavin came over with a girl in his arms and said hello to Connell, "I'll go first."

"Are you leaving now?" Connell looked at the girl in Gavin's arms and said meaningfully, "Okay, I won't stop you. Go as you wish."

Gavin smiled, holding the girl with slender waist and long legs, and left the bar without looking back.

If someone paid attention to Gavin's back, he could see him talking to the girl in his arms from time to time when he was walking out. The girl smiled and gently beat his chest, and he seized the girl's hand. Both of them looked like they were enjoying themselves...
