The more Wendy ate, the more depressed she felt. She soon felt that the crayfish was no longer delicious or spicy.
Gavin looked careless, but in fact, he hadn't moved his attention away from Wendy for a moment.
Naturally, he soon noticed that Wendy was bored.
He put on the gloves, skillfully peeled a crayfish, and placed it on the plate in front of Wendy. "You don't like it?"
"..."
Wendy didn't say anything. Gavin thought she had acquiesced, so he asked tentatively, "Should I ask the chef to change the way of cooking and make another dish for you?"
Only then did Wendy realize that Gavin was talking to her. She quickly shook her head and said, "No, it's delicious."
"Let the chef change the way of cooking... It probably won't work. I need someone to enlighten my mood."
However, no one could do it.
Gavin stared at Wendy and bluntly said, "It's hard for me to believe that crayfish is delicious from your current state."
Wendy pursed her lips. "I'm just thinking about something. Why not?"
Gavin shrugged. "Of course. But you have to tell me, why did you go to the bar with Connell? You didn't like that kind of place before, did you?"
"I'm bored," Wendy said casually, "I don't know how to spend the time after work, so I followed him there."
"There are plenty of ways to kill time for a girl." Gavin was both serious and joking. "If I find out that you're fooling around in a bar with Connell next time, I'll report it to your cousin."
Wendy made a face without fear. "Don't scare me. My cousin won't scold me!"
She was already an adult. If she went to the bar, as long as she did not do anything excessive, Joanne would not blame her.
"..." Gavin felt a headache and changed the subject. "Aren't you going to take the postgraduate entrance exam? Why don't you know how to pass the time after work?"
"The postgraduate entrance examination will be held in January of next year. Besides, I don't need to prepare much for it!"
She was confident but not pretentious. There was a lively look in her eyes and brows. She looked so attractive.
Gavin suddenly felt that such a little girl was not bad to be his younger sister.
Of course, it would be better if she was not his younger sister.
Seeing Gavin lost in thought but looking as if he hadn't thought about anything, Wendy couldn't help waving her hand in front of his eyes and said, "Don't you believe that I can get the master's degree?"
Gavin smiled and said, "I do believe! I believe in you as much as I believe in the cooking skills of the chefs here." Then he peeled another crayfish and put it on Wendy's plate. "Eat it."
Wendy picked up the beautifully-peeled crayfish meat, thought for a moment, and put it down. Then she stared at Gavin in confusion and said, "By the way, how did you know that Connell and I were in MiTime?"
"Not to mention he just took you to MiTime, I'll find you as long as I wish to even if he takes you to Mars." After a pause, Gavin suddenly smiled. "However, in the next three months, he won't come to you again."
Wendy suddenly had a bad feeling. "What did you do to Connell?"
Gavin didn't answer. Instead, he asked, "Why do you care so much about Connell?"
Wendy resisted the urge to roll her eyes at Gavin and said, "I'm just afraid that you may break the law!"
There was a smile on Gavin's handsome face. He said, "Oh, so you are worrying about me."
Wendy didn't know what to say. "..." "damn, how could he think about it in such a way!"
Seeing Wendy almost broken down, Gavin finally told her that he just made a bet with Connell and didn't do anything to him.
"It turns out that your bet is that who failed can't contact me in three months." Wendy said with interest, "You are really bored."
"Anyway, I won." Gavin raised his eyebrows proudly, as if he had won an arduous battle.
Wendy couldn't help the desire to discourage him. "What... what if I want to contact Connell?"
Gavin frowned his eyebrows, and his face became stiff because of unhappiness. "What are you going to find Connell for?"
"Connell is fun." Wendy counted Connell's advantages as if she had long been familiar with them. "Firstly, he is handsome and has classic taste. The key is that he knows where there's delicious food and where there's fun! What's more amazing is that he knows a lot of interesting people!"
"..."
Gavin looked disdainful.
As for what Wendy had said, he did every one of those better than Connell. Not to mention that he was much more handsome. Connell was way worse in appearance when compared with him.
However, there were not many people in the world who were as excellent as him. If Wendy looked for a boyfriend in the standard of him, she might be single until the next life.
Speaking of that, Han Qiu seemed not too bad.
What if once he stopped Wendy from looking for Connell, she dated a worse man?
Gavin smiled and said, "Connell is actually fine among the younger generation." He gave Wendy a positive look and said, "You have a pretty good taste."
Wendy just let out a hollow laugh and couldn't become happy.
If she had known that this was the result of testing Gavin, she might as well not try it.
However, even if the result of the test was what she wanted, so what? They were brother and sister, and it was impossible to change the fact just because of her test.
On the contrary, Gavin's behavior would make her give up.
So, for her at the moment, the bad result was the best.
Thinking of this, Wendy snorted. "Of course, everyone I favor is great in character!"
She was not bragging. She was quite good at judging people.
The only accident was that she hated Gavin at first, but in the end, she couldn't help falling in love with him.
This was the biggest mistake she had made in judging people... in her life.
After dinner, the two of them left the restaurant. It was getting late.
Gavin opened the door of the car and motioned for Wendy to get in the car. "I'll offer you a ride back home."
Wendy was hesitating about whether to reduce contact with Gavin when he walked over and pushed her to the passenger's seat.
Gavin said, "Don't hesitate. It's not easy to get a taxi here."
Wendy complained while fastening her seat belt, "Maybe I want to call someone to pick me up?"
Gavin looked at the time and laughed. "At this time, you can't find your cousin or Joanne. Your classmates and colleagues don't have cars yet, and you are too embarrassed to call them over. Connell-is your only choice."
Wendy widened her eyes. "Can't Connell come?"
Gavin put down the seat belt and reached out his hand to knock Wendy's head. "A girl should be reserved!"
Wendy touched her head and said, "Oh."
She had never intended to be reserved. However, if being reserved could change the blood relations between her and Gavin, she could appear reserved.
Thinking about this impossible thing, Wendy tilted her head and fell asleep in the passenger seat.
Gavin soon found that Wendy had stopped moving. He turned over and found that she was sleeping like a child.
He stopped the car by the roadside, took the coat that he had casually put aside, and covered Wendy with it.
When she was awake, she always looked fierce and aggressive. It was not until she fell asleep that her expression became calm and satisfied, and her breathing became light and gentle that she still looked childish.
However, the person who could take care of her childish side was not him.
He really hoped that the one who would take care of in the future would know her deepest thoughts.
The private restaurant was not far from Wendy's apartment. Gavin's car quickly returned to the apartment downstairs, but Wendy was still sleeping soundly.
Gavin didn't wake Wendy. He just sat in the passenger seat and looked at her.
He didn't know his future, so he didn't have much chance to look at Wendy. What's more, he originally didn't have many opportunities to look at her quietly.
Wendy didn't sleep too deep. Maybe she sensed that the car had stopped, so she slowly opened her eyes. However, when she saw Gavin's eyes, she couldn't help but be stunned.
Gavin smiled. "I was just about to wake you up."
Wendy sat up straight and found that she was covered with Gavin's coat. She was confused and asked, "How long has the car been parked here?"
"We just arrived," Gavin raised his eyebrows and said, "If we have been here for a long time, do you think I wouldn't wake you up?"
"That's right." Wendy stretched herself. "It's good enough that you didn't kick me down. How could you wait here for me to wake up?"
Gavin gave Wendy a look of appreciation. "That's right, you know me."
Wendy snorted. "Who knows? I just know very well how ungracious you are!" Then she lifted the coat. "But, thank you."
"You're welcome," Gavin said, "I'm not gentlemanly, but you know that I'm a good person."
Wendy rolled her eyes at Gavin, opened the door, and got out. She waved to him without looking back. "Goodbye."
Gavin sat in the car, watching Wendy's back without moving. He couldn't help smiling.
"Good night, idiot."
After whispering the sentence that Wendy couldn't hear it, Gavin started the car and drove back to his apartment.
Back at the apartment, Gavin didn't feel sleepy for a while. He simply turned on the computer, took out the list given by Wendy, searched everyone's information one by one, and sent the list to one person after making sure that everyone was a real expert.
The person on the other side soon replied with a message.
"Special Assistant Gavin, you have been contacting me frequently recently. I'm so flattered."
Gavin was too lazy to type word by word. He picked up the phone and replied with a voice message, "Cut the crap. I want these people's contact information and their latest schedule."
"Got it." The person said, "I'll give it to you in half an hour."
Half an hour was just enough for Gavin to wash up. When he returned from the bathroom in a bathrobe, a notification that suggested he had received a new email was shown in the lower right corner of the computer.
He clicked on it and looked at the schedules of the experts whom Wendy had chosen. Then he contacted the two who were working in the United States.
After telling them that it was an invitation from the president of Lambert Group, it was not so difficult anymore. Both of the professors agreed to come to the country.
But things were not that simple. Gavin emphasized on the phone,
"Professor, we are very grateful for what you do, so we will offer you adequate compensation. Our only condition is that you need to sign a confidentiality agreement. There are some things that need to be kept secret, including who you will diagnose, the result of your consultation, and the condition of the child."
"I understand." The man promised in fluent English. "Don't worry, I will never break the confidentiality agreement."
