Chapter 679 This is My Girlfriend

Wendy knew that Connell was making fun of her.

She smiled, and there was a touch of seriousness in her red eyes. "If it can work, I will really do that."

Connell was stunned and suddenly felt that this joke couldn't go on anymore.

Wendy's persistence to Gavin was beyond his expectation.

Gavin's response to Wendy's feelings was even more shocking to him.

Connell once thought that if he exposed Wendy's secret and let Gavin know that Wendy liked him, he could at least make Gavin worried.

According to Gavin's style, he might come to Wendy and confess his feelings to her.

Coincidentally, Gavin and Wendy might even have a chance.

However, why didn't Gavin do what he had expected? Instead, he found a girlfriend in such a short period?

"The person Gavin likes is obviously Wendy. Did he find that girlfriend to cut off his own thoughts, or is he just trying to make Wendy give up on him?"

No matter what Gavin's purpose was, it was not in line with his usual style.

Connell's intuition told him that there must be something else he didn't know.

The apartment was not far from the hospital. In less than half an hour, the cool sports car was parked in front of the hospital, causing the medical staff and patients who were going in and out of the hospital to look back.

Wendy placed half of her face against the cold window of the car blown by the air conditioner. After a while, she realized that she had arrived at the hospital. She came to her senses and said "thank you" to Connell and was about to get out of the car.

"Call me before you get off work," Connell said, "I'll pick you up."

Wendy was stunned. "... Why?"

Young Master Wesley was so angry that he wanted to hit her. "What other reasons can there be? How can I rest assured when you look so down? If I don't come to pick you up, I wonder if you can find the way home!"

Wendy almost suspected herself by Connell's roar. She nodded foolishly and said, "...Okay."

She still wanted to say something, but Connell raised his hand and interrupted her. "Don't thank me. It's me who told you that Gavin has a girlfriend. I have to be responsible for you!"

In fact, it was not that serious to speak of responsibility. He was just worried about her.

Wendy also knew that, but she couldn't repay his concern. She could only pretend to laugh aloud. She pushed the door open and walked straight to the hospital.

No matter how funny Connell was, he couldn't make her forget that Gavin had a girlfriend now.

It was so sudden that it made her suspect what was the point of her life?

"Doctor Xiao, you're finally here!" A woman in her early fifties took Wendy's hand and looked very excited.

It took Wendy some effort to understand what was happening. "Aunt Helen, what's wrong?"

Aunt Helen was the family of one of Dr. Oliver's patients. Dr. Oliver was very busy, and Wendy did most of the work for the patients after the operation. With time, she had already become very familiar with Aunt Helen.

"My husband can be discharged from the hospital today!" Aunt Helen was so excited that her face turned red. "Thanks for your care during this period!"

Wendy hurriedly said, "Dr. Oliver is the doctor in charge of Mr. He's illness. The person toward whom you should be most grateful is Dr. Oliver."

"Silly girl, I've seen it all. You did all the work after the surgery." The auntie passed a fruit basket into Wendy's hand. "This is a little token of my appreciation. You have to accept it!"

There was a rule in the hospital that the medical staff could not accept anything from the patients except for verbal appreciation.

Wendy hurriedly pushed the fruit basket back. She refused to accept no matter what, but the aunt was really enthusiastic. In the end, she had to take a fresh and full peach from the fruit basket.

After returning to the office, Wendy washed the peach and took a bite. It was as sweet as candy.

In fact, love didn't mean everything in life. Her life was not completely meaningless, was it?

Although she couldn't be with Gavin, she could help many couples like Mr. He and Aunt Helen become hale and hearty.

Wendy thought that she would break down, but unexpectedly, she didn't make any mistakes during the day's work. Dr. Oliver even praised her. "I finally see the Wendy who had just started the internship again."

It was really rare that she could get off work on time today.

All her colleagues had noticed that something was wrong with Wendy's condition recently, so they didn't dare to tease her. They just quietly watched her get in Connell's sports car.

Connell handed her a bottle of mineral water whose cap had just been removed and asked, "How was your day?"

"Just like before." Wendy pursed her lips and said as if nothing had happened, "There's no difference."

"Then, I'm relieved!" After a pause, Young Master Wesley added, "For the sake of your good performance, I'll give you a reward. What do you want to eat tonight? Where do you want to eat? Just tell me. I'll treat you!"

"Let's go eat Thai cuisine! But-" Wendy changed her tone. "I want to treat you!"

During this period, Connell had helped her a lot. She wanted to thank him with practical actions. And it was obviously a good choice to invite him for dinner.

Connell probably knew what Wendy was thinking, so he didn't refuse. He hit on the accelerator and said, "Then I won't save the trouble for you."

There was a Thai restaurant on Little Zhou Road that had been opening for five years. Its evaluation on the delicacy website was quite high, but its average cost was not particularly high. Therefore, it was very popular among white-collar workers and young people.

Connell chose this restaurant. It wouldn't be disgraceful, nor would it make Wendy spend much money on it.

When going out for dinner, they liked to sit near the window or in the corner, just like everyone else.

As soon as she entered the restaurant, Wendy found a table of four in the corner. Its privacy was relatively better, and the field of vision was expansive. She could enjoy the delicious food while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the city.

However, the waiter told her, "Miss, I'm sorry, the table has been reserved."

Connell saw that Wendy really liked it, so he negotiated with the waiter, but it didn't work. The waiter tactfully revealed that the man who had booked the table was not ordinary, and they didn't dare to make a decision to change his table.

"It doesn't matter. We can sit nearby." Wendy smiled. "We're here for dinner, not for the table."

As long as the food was delicious, Wendy didn't care much about where she sat, so she was not disappointed.

After the affair with Gavin, she already knew that there were some things that couldn't be forced. The appropriate compromise was a kind of leniency for herself.

After ordering the dishes, Wendy rested her chin on her hands and looked out of the window. She watched the sunlight on the tall buildings fade away little by little. The twilight slowly fell over the city. She silently celebrated to herself that she had lived through a day smoothly again

"Mr. Qin, Miss Moore, the shrimp soup you ordered is ready."

The waiter came again with hot soup. Wendy was about to say thank you when she saw a familiar car coming from the corner of her eyes.

It was a white, limited edition Land Rover.

It was Gavin's car!

Wendy's breath suddenly froze, and her heart beat faster. Her eyes seemed to be glued to the car, and she couldn't move her eyes away from the car despite the presence of delicious food.

She thought that the car would drive along, but out of her expectation, the car turned around and entered the parking lot.

Why did Gavin park the car here?

Wendy's brain was in a mess. At that moment, the door of the Land Rover opened.

Not only the door of the driver's seat, but the door of the passenger's seat was also opened.

Wendy subconsciously turned her eyes to the passenger seat and saw a slender long-haired girl getting out of the car with a smile.

Joanne, Freya, and all of their friends were all extremely beautiful. Wendy had seen too many of them and thought that she was tired of the beauties. However, when she looked at the girl outside the window, she was still amazed.

She was slim but not weak. Her thinness was exactly the type that could arouse people's desire for protection.

Her long black hair looked like a masterpiece from God, soft and natural, making her look gentle and soothing.

The girl's facial features were not as amazing as Freya's, nor were they as delicate and perfect as Joanne's. However, the pair of clean and bright eyes, pale pink cherry lips, as well as the delicate nose seemed to have been measured by God for her temperament. They were just right, so beautiful and gorgeous.

Before Wendy could recover from the shock, she saw Gavin getting out of the car-he walked to the other side of the car and put his arms around the girl's waist.

The girl smiled softly and followed Gavin into the restaurant.

"Does it have to be so coincidental?" Young Master Wesley was very confused. "The table you like best can't have been reserved by Gavin?"

Wendy's soul seemed to be struck down by something, and she almost couldn't maintain her normal voice. "Is that girl Gavin's new girlfriend?"

"Yes," Connell said, "I have heard from others that the two of them have known each other for a while. They only confirmed their relationship a few days ago."

Wendy remembered that on the day when Gavin ate noodles with her, he suddenly said that he wanted to settle down. And then she started wondering if Gavin had a suitable girlfriend.

Now it seemed that her suspicion was right.

However, that girl did look like... a person suitable for marriage, so she couldn't even suspect anything.

Wendy lowered her head. "That girl..."

She didn't continue, but Connell completely knew what she wanted to ask. He replied, "She's not some rich young lady. I heard that she came from a well-off family in a second-tier city nearby. She went to school in a well-behaved manner and graduated. She had many pursuers from her school, and some of them were rich second generations, but they were all rejected by her. This girl has a good reputation and a good character. Gavin's taste is good..."

Wendy knocked on the table and looked at Connell with a depressed look. "Young Master Wesley, no matter how excellent a girl is, never praise her too much in front of another girl, okay?"

Connell smiled and said, "Are you jealous?"

"No." Wendy looked at the glamorous couple who walked into the restaurant slowly and said sincerely, "I'm just envious of her, almost to the extent of jealousy."

Connell cleared his throat and said, "Do you want me to..."

"No," Wendy said, "I can't bear to see such a good girl getting hurt."

As soon as she finished speaking, Gavin came over with his arms around his girlfriend's waist. To his surprise, he found that Connell and Wendy were also here.

The girl followed Gavin and stopped. She looked at him in confusion. "What's wrong?"

"I met acquaintances." Gavin pointed to Wendy and Connell. "This is my sister and her boyfriend."

"What a coincidence!" The girl's surprised expression was adorable. When she smiled, she looked like a blooming flower. "Hello, my name is Blake Nicholas."

Gavin turned his head to look at Blake with a gentle smile in his eyes.

Then, he put his arm around her shoulder and introduced her solemnly, "This is my girlfriend, Blake."
