Chapter 684 I'll Be Willful Just This Time

The uneasiness in Wendy's eyes finally faded away, but she still did not let go of Gavin's hand.

She couldn't hide her dependence on Gavin now.

Gavin had no choice but to hold Wendy's hand so as to make her feel at ease.

Dui Fang suddenly felt that he was a third wheel. He understood it was time for him to leave. Before leaving, he didn't forget to say to Gavin, "If you need me to do anything, contact me at any time."

Gavin replied with a "Hmm" and took Wendy upstairs.

Wendy was still in shock and followed Gavin upstairs. It wasn't until Gavin pressed her to sit on the sofa that she managed to come to her senses. "Who... were those people just now?"

"I'm not sure yet," Gavin said, "I'll find it out."

Wendy nodded mechanically.

She didn't really want to know who those people were.

Now, she was more eager to know if Gavin would at least spend the night with her.

Gavin poured a glass of warm water for Wendy. He asked, "Are you hungry? Do you want the restaurant to send the food, or do you want the chef to cook here?"

Wendy looked up at Gavin and asked, "Will you eat with me?"

"..."

"It shouldn't be a big deal to have a meal."

Gavin nodded. "Yeah, I will."

Finally, there was a trace of vigor in Wendy's eyes. She said, "Let the hotel deliver the food here. I want spicy crayfish-from Ruby Palace!"

Ruby Palace was a hotel as famous as the Moonlit Dine. The food there was of a strong flavor, and spicy crayfish was its specialty dish. When the crayfish was in season, its spicy crayfish was always in short supply.

Gavin sent a message to Dui Fang while teasing Wendy. "You haven't been staying in Arlington for a long time, but you're already familiar with the specialties of every restaurant."

"I didn't know before. Connell asked them to send some here once. It tasted good. I've always wanted to eat it again..."

The spicy crayfish that she had been desiring attracted Wendy's attention. Her voice finally returned to normal and was no longer dimly discernible because of fear.

After sending the message, Gavin put down his mobile phone. "When did you eat with Connell?"

Wendy thought about it and mentioned a date.

Coincidentally, Gavin had a deep impression of that date-on the morning of the next day, he saw Connell go out from here.

Gavin asked while looking sullen, "How many crayfish did you order? Did Connell have to eat them here and leave on the next morning?"

"We..." While replying, Wendy suddenly realized that something was wrong. She stared at Gavin and asked, "How did you know that Connell left on the next day?"

"..." Only then did Gavin realize that he was too impulsive. He avoided Wendy's gaze and did not answer.

Wendy remembered that she had seen Gavin's car that morning and thought she had gotten crazy because she missed Gavin too much.

Now it seemed that she was not crazy. Gavin really showed up that day.

She pursed her lips and smiled. "You wanted to see me that morning, didn't you?" Before Gavin could say anything, she added, "It's useless to deny it. In fact, I saw your car from the balcony that day, but I wasn't sure until today."

Since it was useless to deny it, Gavin simply admitted it. "I did want to see you that day but never mind. Now, are you going to tell me why Connell stayed overnight at your house?"

Wendy just did not answer. Instead, she asked Gavin, "Why are you so concerned about this?"

Gavin glanced at Wendy and said coldly, "I'm afraid you'll suffer losses with your IQ."

"Actually, you're just concerned about me." The smile on Wendy's face became more brilliant. "That day, we ate crayfish and a lot of crabs, and we also drank two dozen beers. Drunk driving is illegal, so Connell slept on my sofa for one night."

It seemed that she did not take it seriously at all.

She overestimated the nature of men and was not aware of any potential risks in doing so.

Gavin was irritated by Wendy's attitude and continued to ask, "There are many ways to avoid drunk driving. You could have just called a designated driver. Why did you keep Connell here?"

Wendy shrugged her shoulders and said indifferently, "I was drunk, so I didn't have time to care whether Connell wanted to call a designated driver or sleep on the sofa."

Gavin got angry instantly. "You were drunk?!"

"Yes!" Wendy admitted frankly. "I still need to build up my tolerance level of alcohol!"

"..." Wicked girl!

Gavin was so angry that he wanted to knock her.

"Brother." Wendy looked at Gavin with a big smile. "What are you worried about?"

"Don't think that I won't teach you a lesson if you call me brother." Gavin pinched Wendy's ear. "Didn't you learn the phrase "having a reserved manner" when you learned Mandarin?"

"Why do you still ask since you know that I haven't learned it?" Wendy grabbed Gavin's hand and said, "My teacher only taught the basic daily language. What does that phrase mean?"

Gavin was so angry that he had no choice but gave Wendy a hard knock on her head. "Next time, Connell is not allowed to stay overnight here. Nor is he allowed to sleep on the sofa!"

"Why?" Wendy massaged the part where she had been hit by Gavin. "Since you and Blake can be a very intimate couple, why can't I be intimate to Connell? I'm not a teenage girl. We're both grown-ups!"

"It's not about age, but we're in different situations," Gavin said, "There are some things that you still need to think about seriously."

"Are you serious?" Wendy suddenly asked, "Do you really like Blake and really want to date her?"

"Why do you have such doubts?" Gavin didn't answer. Instead, he looked at Wendy as if Wendy was unreasonable. "Do you think I will hate such a girl as Blake?"

"... It also makes sense." Wendy hesitated for a moment before nodding.

Blake was a quiet and gentle girl who was simply a perfect combination of ancient gentleness and modern elegance. Even as a rival in love, she couldn't hate Blake. How could a visual animal like Gavin hate Blake?

Wendy even started to breathe cautiously. "Then... do you have any plans for your future with her?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Wendy's heart began to beat wildly.

She had wanted to ask Gavin this question since she saw Blake.

But she was afraid that if her question was too abrupt, her secret would be exposed. Moreover, she was afraid that his answer would be what she had guessed.

She was still afraid now, but at least this was a good opportunity.

This time, Gavin said without hesitation, "Yeah, I'm planning."

In other words, he had a plan, but he hadn't made up his mind yet.

It was somewhat different from what Wendy had expected, but it still stung her heart.

Gavin had dated so many girls, but he had never been so serious.

"How much does he like Blake?"

Wendy was estimating it when the doorbell rang. She knew that she should go to open the door, but she couldn't react in time.

Gavin pretended not to notice Wendy's distraction and went out to open the door. He asked the hotel waiter to place dinner and crayfish on the table.

After that, he called Wendy as if nothing had happened. "Okay, come and eat."

The dishes were all placed in food-grade plastic boxes, and except for the boiled green vegetable, all other dishes had a strong flavor.

This was exactly what Wendy wanted right now. She sat down, put on the gloves, and skillfully peeled the crayfish.

It was because she was so skillful that the hard shell accidentally cut the plastic gloves and her thumb. Soon, the glove was dyed red by the blood.

"..."

Looking at her accidentally injured finger, Wendy was dumbfounded.

"Shit, I haven't eaten my crayfish yet!"

Gavin took Wendy's hand, took off the gloves, and let her press the wound to stop the bleeding. He asked, "Where's the first aid kit?"

"The left lowermost part of the TV cabinet."

Gavin quickly brought the first aid kit, skillfully cleaned the wound, and bandaged the wound after applying the medicine.

Wendy shook her tightly wrapped thumb and looked at Gavin pitifully. "Brother, I can't peel the crayfish..."

Gavin put a peeled crayfish on the plate in front of Wendy and said angrily, "You just eat, okay?"

"Okay!" Wendy pretended to be a good sister after being served by him and enjoyed the delicious crayfish meat with a very obedient look.

Gavin shook his head and was willing to be enslaved by Wendy. The shells in front of him quickly piled up into a small hill, and then his cell phone aside rang.

Wendy had good eyesight and saw the name "Blake" on the screen.

Gavin took off his gloves and went toward the balcony to answer the phone.

When answering Blake's phone call, he didn't look as serious and stiff as he did when he answered the work phones. His voice and look became very gentle. Wendy couldn't hear clearly what he had said to Blake, but she was very sure that she rarely saw such a look on Gavin's face.

Not long after, Gavin hung up the phone and came back. Wendy was in low spirits and took off her gloves.

Gavin pretended not to know anything and asked in surprise, "Are you not going to eat crayfish?"

Wendy opened the plastic bowl with rice. "I'll eat first."

"Okay." Gavin looked at the time and pretended to say unintentionally, "It's almost time for me to go back after you finish dinner."

All of a sudden, Wendy's heart sank.

"Is he going to go back after he answered the phone call from Blake?"

Others would forget their friends when they saw their women, but he forgot his sister when he heard her beauty.

Perhaps because she had eaten some crayfish, or for other reasons, Wendy didn't have much appetite for the meal. Gavin didn't ask why. After the meal, he said, "I have to go first. Can you manage to stay alone?"

Wendy bit her lip and lowered her head, without saying anything for a long time.

Gavin stared at her and asked, "What's wrong?"

"... I can't." Wendy raised her head and looked at Gavin with tears in her eyes. "Can you stay here for a while?"

"..." Seeing Wendy be tearful, Gavin couldn't say no.

"Gavin." This was probably the first time that Wendy had begged Gavin. "Don't leave me alone. I'm scared."

She was really afraid.

"I will only be willful this time. In the future, I'll never pester Gavin like this again."
