"Hmmm..."
In her sleep, Wendy groaned and kicked the quilt away. She stretched out her slender legs and pressed them against the quilt.
It was getting cold. If she didn't cover herself with the quilt, she would catch a cold tomorrow.
Gavin was inexplicably afraid, but he didn't dare to reach out his hand.
Wendy had thrown caution to the wind. He was afraid that once he got close to her, he would also lose control...
If he couldn't keep himself rational, then this matter would never be able to be reversed.
After struggling for a while, Gavin dragged the quilt and carefully tucked Wendy in. He tried his best not to touch her all the way.
Wendy seemed to feel something. She shrank into the quilt and called in a daze, "Gavin..."
Gavin thought that she had woken up. He was shocked and looked at her subconsciously. Fortunately, she was just talking in her dream.
If she woke up, she would pester him shamelessly and ask, "Why do you sneak into my room to see me in the middle of the night? Have you decided to confess your love to me?"
"..."
To be honest, Gavin didn't know how to explain what he was doing.
By the way, even in her sleep, would Wendy call out his name?
Gavin felt as if his heart had been hit hard by something. He couldn't tell whether he was happy or bitter.
He only knew that no matter how he felt, he was destined to let Wendy down.
He fiddled with the hair on Wendy's forehead, held her hand, and kissed the back of her hand lightly. Then, he left without looking back.
Sooner or later, he would leave her. It was meaningless for him to be gentle and attached to her.
It would be better to turn around and leave so that she could find the person who could really make her happy as soon as possible.
The following day.
Unknowingly, the morning light had already filled the room.
Wendy gradually restored her consciousness. For some reason, she could feel that Gavin seemed to be by her side.
This feeling was actually very real.
Alas, she didn't want to wake up.
She didn't want to see Gavin and Blake be in deep love. It was good to sleep like this till the end of time. At least she could deceive herself that Gavin was by her side.
At seven o'clock in the morning, the urgent alarm clock woke Wendy up.
She opened her eyes subconsciously and felt Gavin's smell first. Then, what had happened last night rushed into her mind...
She was stunned and bounced up like a frightened spring. She was indeed in Gavin's room.
In other words, she had really confessed her love to Gavin!!!
Wendy was not shocked, doubtful, or regretful. She just felt excited.
She kicked the quilt away and ran out of the room. She searched everywhere in the house for Gavin while calling out his name.
"Gavin!"
Running around in the house, she found that Gavin was in the kitchen.
Wendy suddenly quieted down. She leaned forward against the door frame, popped half of her head into the kitchen, looked at Gavin fondly, and called him, "Gavin..."
Gavin turned around while holding two breakfasts in his hands. He asked in a faint tone, "What's the matter in the early morning?"
"It's okay. I'm just glad to see you." Wendy raised the corner of her mouth and focused her attention on Gavin. "What will we eat for breakfast?"
She was wearing Gavin's T-shirt. Her eyebrows and eyes narrowed into lines because of her clean and bright smile. She was particularly attractive when leaning forward against the door.
Gavin tried to hide the fact that he was amazed and tempted. He glanced at Wendy and said, "Take a look yourself."
Wendy reluctantly looked away from Gavin and saw that there were boiled eggs, toast, and a fruit salad on the plate.
She pursed her lips in dissatisfaction. "Why are they all the food that I don't like?"
Gavin looked indifferent. "You don't have to eat."
"I want to eat!" Wendy smiled and didn't hide her infatuation at all. "If I eat with you, any food tasting terrible will become delicious."
Gavin put the breakfasts on the table and stared at Wendy coldly. "You were not like this before."
"Oh." Wendy held her chin and looked at Gavin leisurely. "What was I like before?"
Gavin cut open the boiled eggs neatly. "If I remember correctly, you said that you hate people like me the most, that I was not your ideal, and that even if all the men in the world died, you would not consider me."
Wendy indeed said those words. She could only blame herself for not seeing through her heart at that time.
If she revealed the truth, she would be despised by Gavin, wouldn't she?
Wendy gave a hard cough and said, "There is a saying: When a girl says that she doesn't want it, and you think that she really doesn't want it, you can prepare to consider another girl."
Gavin raised his eyebrow, asking, "What do you mean?"
"I mean that girls will say something opposite to what they really want to say. It's the same when it comes to the person they like," Wendy said as if she was reasonable with a straight face. "I said that I didn't like you because I like you. You're stupid, so you don't understand!"
Or it may be because she couldn't believe that she liked Gavin, so she lied to herself.
Wendy admitted that she was slow and heavy-headed.
If she hadn't been so slow, she would have discovered earlier her feelings for Gavin and expressed her love for him before she knew that he was her brother.
In that case, at least, she and Gavin could have a pure relationship for a few days.
While Wendy was imagining, Gavin suddenly spoke and pulled her back to reality. "Let's have a talk."
"..."
Wendy didn't say anything. She felt that it was necessary for her to emphasize that she didn't like Gavin's negotiating tone.
What was worse, she felt that Gavin would sentence her to death after the negotiation.
"What else is there to talk about?" Wendy avoided Gavin's stare. "Didn't I make it clear last night?"
Gavin ignored Wendy's resistance and said coldly, "After breakfast, you can leave. I will pretend that nothing happened last night."
"..."
Apart from pretending that nothing had happened, Gavin wouldn't do anything else, would he?
Wendy was completely furious. She put down the knife and fork and accidentally poked the egg yolk. She felt it was a pity, so she ate the bread with the egg yolk. After swallowing it, she shouted at Gavin, "Pardon? I didn't hear you clearly."
"Let's end this farce," Gavin said, "if you stop now, we can still get along with each other like before."
Suddenly, Wendy calmed down.
She put down the knife and fork and looked at Gavin. "Do you think I can ask myself to stop when it comes to love? Do you think I haven't tried it? I even forced myself, and I have thought about the worst consequences! But, Gavin, I can't stop falling in love with you..."
"..." Gavin didn't speak.
Wendy smiled and said, "I'm sorry. I said I liked you again. What should you do? Can you forget what happened this morning and pretend that nothing happened?"
Gavin pushed the plate away. "What do you want from me?"
"I don't allow you to propose to Blake," Wendy said in an arrogant and overbearing manner. "Otherwise, I will really die."
She would really die of sadness.
"Wendy, you can't be so willful," Gavin said in a colder voice.
"You said I was willful. So, do you think I'll still care about whether I can be willful or not?" Wendy looked at Gavin firmly. "My standpoint is very clear. Gavin, I'll stick to you!"
"I'm also very clear about my standpoint." Gavin ordered word by word. "After breakfast, you don't need to be here anymore!"
Before Wendy had time to say anything, Gavin had already gotten up and left.
When Gavin walked out of the apartment, the driver had already started the car and was waiting for him beside the door.
He opened the door and directly got in. "Go to the company."
The driver had already figured out Gavin's temperament after working for him for so long. Gavin had never been so unhappy so early in the morning.
The driver could not help asking, "Special Assistant Gavin, what's wrong?"
Gavin couldn't figure out what was wrong with himself.
He had already made up his mind and shown no mercy to Wendy.
However, Wendy was more difficult to deal with than all the opponents he had ever met. No matter how cold-blooded he was to her, he couldn't hurt her at all.
Wendy really threw all caution to the wind. His reason was also facing the biggest challenge.
He was facing the biggest problem in his life, and no one could help him.
"Nothing. I'm just thinking about something about the company." Gavin rubbed his throbbing temples. "Give me today's newspaper."
"OK," the driver answered and handed the financial and economic newspaper to Gavin.
Gavin flipped through it to barely divert his attention.
Wendy was still staying in the apartment.
After Gavin left, the apartment suddenly became empty. All the satisfaction and joy she had felt when she awoke was gone.
"After breakfast, you don't need to be here anymore."
Gavin's cold voice kept echoing in Wendy's mind. She pursed her lips and tried so hard to restrain herself from crying, but her eyes still turned red.
She had already thrown caution to the wind, but Gavin was still indifferent and even warned her not to appear again.
"So, who does he want here?
"Blake?"
"Asshole!"
Wendy poked the toast on the plate and lost her appetite. She threw away the knife and fork and went to the balcony for clothes.
After taking the shower yesterday, she had washed and dried her clothes. After hanging them a whole night, she was ready to wear them.
Before leaving, Wendy looked back at the spacious and bright apartment.
"Gavin doesn't want me to appear again, does he?
"I'll definitely not satisfy him!"
Since Gavin didn't like her, she would pester him. At worst, she would make him hate her even more!
Anyway, she would never allow him to get engaged to Blake!
When she went downstairs, Wendy greeted the security guard and then left. She stopped a taxi, went home to change clothes, and hurried to the hospital.
She didn't expect to coincidentally meet Blake again.
Blake reminded her gently. "Wendy, you're going to be late."
"Oh, no, there are still 10 minutes left." Wendy had already calmed down, and her smile was light and flawless. "I got up late today."
After that, she swiftly ran into the elevator and soon disappeared.
The smile on Blake's face gradually disappeared.
After eating with Gavin that day, she was in so much pain that she even started to doubt herself.
Why could Wendy, who had caused her to encounter such a situation, smile so happily?
She worked in the medical department and it wouldn't be too difficult if she wanted Wendy to get into trouble so that the smile on her face disappeared...
