Wendy drove the Panamera straight to the bar.
When Connell saw her getting out of the car, he teased and said, "Not bad."
"It's my cousin's." Wendy went round to the passenger's seat and took her bag. "Let's go in."
Connell stood still. "I don't really want to go in..."
"Hmm?" Wendy was confused. "You called yourself the 'Prince of MiTime', and you also said that this is your favorite place. Why don't you want to go in now?"
Young Master Wesley replied aggrievedly, "I can guess what you're going to tell me..."
He did not want to face it, so he avoided it. The reason was so simple.
"..."
Wendy was stunned, and the smile on her face faded away. She looked at Connell with embarrassment and said, "Connell, don't do this..."
She already felt guilty over Connell.
Connell's response would put her even more at a loss for words.
Connell smiled and tapped Wendy's forehead. "I'm just kidding. Let's go in."
The two of them sat down in the same seats as usual. Connell ordered two cups of juice and took the initiative to lead Wendy to speak. "You have to say it sooner or later. Why don't you spit it out now?"
Wendy held her chin in distress and stared at the juice on the table. "Connell, I... I failed to hold myself back."
Connell thought about it and knew what Wendy was talking about.
He whistled and asked with interest, "What's Gavin's response?"
"He has a girlfriend." Wendy smiled bitterly. "Now that I've confessed my love to him, he even wants to get engaged to his girlfriend and live with her."
Connell tutted and shook his head. "So cruel."
He had already told Gavin that Wendy liked him. And Gavin also liked Wendy.
Connell had thought that Gavin would lose control and be with Wendy at all costs.
Now, it seemed that he had underestimated Gavin's reason and overestimated his courage.
Connell patted Wendy on the shoulder and comforted her. "Don't be sad. Your seemingly omnipotent brother is just a coward!"
Before this, Wendy had scolded Gavin more than 10,000 times, even more fiercely than Connell had done.
However, her scolding was her business, but Connell was not allowed to scold Gavin!
"You're not allowed to scold him!" Wendy looked at Connell unhappily, a protective look on her face.
Connell was so angry that he wanted to laugh. "He treated you in this way, but you are still protecting him?"
"It's my business!" Wendy said angrily, "anyway, you are not allowed to scold him!"
"Okay, okay, okay, I'll tell you a secret." Just as Connell was about to tell the truth, he suddenly thought of something and held it in suspense. "This secret is very big. I can't tell you for nothing. What benefits can you give me?"
Wendy stared at Connell for a while before casting him a look of disdain. "Say it or not."
Young Master Wesley was speechless and told Wendy. "Gavin has long known that you like him!"
Wendy thought that she had heard wrong, so she stared at Connell and asked, "What's going on? Speak clearly!"
"Well, only after I told Gavin that you liked him did he make Blake his girlfriend. Gavin had been not in a romantic relationship for more than half a year before he started going out with Blake. It could be said that he suddenly started dating her," Connell said meaningfully, "you can think about whether there is something fishy there or not."
Wendy knew what Connell meant. He was hinting that Gavin and Blake's relationship was fake.
Was Gavin bored and idle enough to pretend to date someone?
Or did he just want to take advantage of Blake and make her give up?
If Gavin didn't like Blake, didn't that mean that she had a chance?
Wendy was just like a drowning person who had caught a piece of driftwood. She stared at Connell and said, "You..."
"Don't ask me." Connell raised his hand and motioned for Wendy to stop. "I'm just guessing. As for what the truth is, you have to go verify it yourself."
"You're so great to have guessed it!" Wendy excitedly patted Connell on his shoulder. "It's an act of brotherhood! Thank you!"
"Uh-huh," Connell said proudly, "what else can I get apart from your thanks?"
"It is not sincere enough for you to thank me with only words. Wendy is such a sensible girl that she understands she should take practical action, isn't she?"
Wendy smiled and said, "Also, let's... break up."
Connell's breath got stuck in his chest, almost leading to a myocardial infarction.
He pretended to show a fierce look and glared at Wendy. "Who would want to listen to this?"
"I don't care if you want to hear it or not. I still have to thank you," Wendy said with a sincere look, "Connell, thanks so much for your help during this period of time."
When Wendy was being mischievous, Connell couldn't do anything to her.
And when she became serious, Connell's heart softened.
He couldn't help sighing in his heart that Wendy was probably the worst mistake of his life.
He gently patted Wendy on the head and said, "You don't have to thank me. I'm very willing to help you. If you still need me in the future, you can come to me at any time. No gratitude necessary."
Wendy was both moved and distressed. If she didn't say thank you, what else could she say?
"You don't have to say anything." Connell identified Wendy's dilemma at a glance. "What do you want to do now? Just go ahead."
Wendy nodded, walked out of MiTime, and dialed Gavin's number.
The phone was quickly answered, but Gavin's voice was cold enough. "What's the matter?"
Wendy could not help laughing. "Gavin, are you off work?"
They had been quarreling for the past few days, and their relationship could not have become stiffer. Wendy was in a good mood as soon as she called. Intuition told Gavin that something was wrong.
"Not yet," Gavin said lightly, "I won't return today."
"I don't believe it!" Wendy snorted. "Also, I already told you in the morning. If you don't come back today, I'll come and find you."
"I'm at the company." Gavin's tone was threatening. "Go ahead and try."
Before Wendy even had time to say anything, the phone was hung up.
Full of unwillingness, she shouted into the phone. "Okay. I'll go!"
She got in the car and drove the Panamera straight to Lambert Group.
Before she got out of the car, Wendy saw Gavin get into the driver's car, so she had to follow him.
Gavin's driver was sharp-eyed. He soon noticed that there was a car following them, but it didn't look as if it had bad intentions. Who would drive a Porsche Panamera to do something evil?
After a moment of hesitation, the driver asked, "Special Assistant Gavin, is the car behind...?"
"Don't worry about her," Gavin said, "ask her to follow us. Let's go to the hotel."
"All right." The driver restrained the urge to speed up and kept the car running at a normal pace so that the average driver of the Panamera could follow them.
The more Wendy drove, the more she felt that something was wrong. That was not the way back to the apartment. Did Gavin really not intend to go back?
No matter where Gavin went, she would certainly follow him!
She had to ask clearly whether Gavin and Blake were acting or not.
While she was thinking, Wendy found that Gavin's car was turning, so she quickly turned on the cornering lamp. Looking up, she saw the gate of the Garden Hotel.
That wasn't the point.
More importantly, Blake was standing in front of the hotel.
Seeing Gavin's car, a gentle smile appeared on Blake's beautiful face. Wendy, who was a girl, was even tempted by Lin when she looked at her from a distance.
Gavin quickly got out of the car, intimately put his arm around Blake's waist, and walked into the hotel with her.
Wendy felt cold from head to toe, as if she had experienced an ice bucket challenge.
Even if Gavin's original intention of dating Blake was to make her give up, in the face of Blake's beauty, could Gavin really stay calm?
Wendy thought of the plot on TV. The hero and heroine had planned to pretend, but they couldn't help taking the con seriously and falling in love, and then they lived happily ever after...
Wendy felt that it would be a tragedy for her if Gavin's and Blake's story went on so dramatically.
"Pardon? Maybe she was the heroine?"
She was the younger sister of the hero. How could she become the heroine?
It was very likely that she would become a willful and annoying sister who would separate the hero and heroine.
Wendy took a few deep breaths. Instead of parking the car, she drove straight passing by the hotel gate.
She didn't want Gavin and Blake to be together, but she couldn't rush to separate them.
In the end, Wendy went back to her own apartment and fell asleep with the help of sleeping pills.
Since she still couldn't wait for the arrival of Gavin tonight, why did she have to go to his apartment?
It would be better to come back than to stay at his big, empty apartment. In this way, she could pretend that Gavin and Blake might just meet at the hotel, and that he would not stay with Blake all night, and that he would come back to the apartment later...
Actually, Wendy was right.
After watching her car drive away, Gavin sent Blake home and they went back to the apartment.
He hadn't guessed wrong. Sure enough, Wendy really didn't want to come over.
However, without Wendy, why had the apartment become emptier than before?
It was clear that it had restored to be what it had been, but for some reason, Gavin felt that there was something missing in the familiar apartment.
Gavin sat on the sofa. He had already reacted, but he did not dare to admit to it.
He hoped that Wendy was in the apartment. It would make him satisfied. How could he dare to admit it?
For the first time, Gavin felt that he was ill, seriously ill.
Wendy was a medicine that he couldn't touch.
The next day, Gavin went to the company early. He hadn't expected Wendy to also be on the way to Lambert Group.
To make matters worse, Wendy had arrived earlier than him.
Wendy left the car directly at the gate of Lambert Group and rushed into the company building.
Since she couldn't find Gavin, she had to be able to wait for him in his office!
"Miss Moore, what are you doing here?"
A familiar voice stopped Wendy.
Wendy was stunned. She looked back only to see the previous security guard of the apartment wearing the uniform of a Lambert Group' security guard.
She opened her eyes wide. "You..."
"Mr. Gavin said that the treatment here was better. He asked me if I was willing to work here," the security guard said with a smile, "of course I was willing, so I resigned from my job with the apartments and came here. Didn't Mr. Gavin tell you that?"
Wendy shook her head, and a smile spread across her face.
Gavin hadn't complained, nor had he asked the property company to fire the security guard.
On the contrary, he had provided him with a better job.
"Why did Gavin lie to me?
"If he'd lie over such a small thing to me, does it mean that his 'love' for Blake is also a lie?"
Wendy felt like she could see a glimmer of hope. She smiled and said, "Gavin told me. By the way, don't tell him that I'm coming. I'll go upstairs, wait for him and make it a surprise."
"Okay." The security guard waved his hand. "Go upstairs."
Wendy rushed into the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor.
She wanted to hear Gavin's explanation for all of this.
