"Broke up?"
Blake repeated the word with a look of disbelief in her eyes.
"Yes," Wendy said indifferently, "we broke up amicably."
Blake took a long time to react, finally saying, "May I ask why?"
"I can only say that we were originally not serious." Wendy briefly explained the relationship between her and Connell, and then shifted the topic back to Gavin and Blake. "How about you and Gavin? Why are you together?"
"The reason why the two of us are together is, of course, that we like each other," Blake answered with a gentle and beautiful smile. "I like him, and he likes me, so we are together."
"Well, that sounds quite reasonable."
Wendy "inadvertently" asked, "How did you get to know Gavin? I've always been very curious about it."
Compared with Blake's tact, Wendy was more direct in asking questions, as if she had a reason to gossip.
Blake remembered Gavin's warning.
"At ordinary times, you can make up what happened between us. I will play along with you. You can even tell Wendy that I want to get engaged to you."
"We met at a party held by a friend." Blake smiled as if she was recalling the happiest thing in her life. "I flipped when I first saw Gavin. We had common friends who later told me that Gavin had a good impression of me. With the help of friends, we exchanged contact information, drank coffee together after work, and started dating just like that."
Wendy focused most of her energy on the road ahead. She did not notice Blake's subtle actions, nor did she doubt Blake's words. She nodded and said, "Tell the truth, what kind of person do you think Gavin is?"
"He..." Blake's beautiful eyes were filled with an intoxicating tenderness. "He is very gentlemanly and very considerate. He treats others politely, but he knows his bottom line very well. The most important thing is that he has a very charming aura. To put it bluntly, he is a man with his own halo, who will draw attention wherever he goes."
Wendy couldn't help sighing. "Oh, no."
Blake was confused and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Do you want to know my impression of Gavin?"
Wendy's mysterious look and faint smile had completely aroused Blake's curiosity.
Blake nodded hard and said, "Of course. Just tell me."
"As far as I know, Gavin is very domineering and sharp-tongued, and he has never been reasonable. He only pretends to be gentle and polite to outsiders in the business field. The real him is even more annoying than a bully. However, I can't deny that he has a very strong aura."
"..."
Blake had not expected Wendy to be so direct, and she did not know what to say for a moment.
"Did I scare you?" Wendy apologized. "I'm sorry. But if you keep in touch with Gavin, you will find that I am right."
"Wendy." Blake's smile gradually became a bit stiff. "Do you mean that I haven't had deep contact with Gavin yet and I don't know him?"
Wendy tilted her head and glanced at Blake.
She did say that on purpose, but she had to admit that Blake had really been raised well.
Blake was not angry at all and still had a gentle look, but it was not difficult to tell that she was hurt.
Wendy suddenly had a feeling that she deeply hurt Blake, but the latter was still treating her gently.
Ugh, why was there a sudden sense of guilt?
Before Wendy could figure out how she felt, she apologized to Blake. "Blake, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I..."
Halfway through the sentence, Wendy suddenly became speechless.
She had done it on purpose, but now she was pretending to have done it unintentionally. She couldn't go on with the explanation...
As it turned out, Blake was a very easy-going person.
Blake burst out laughing and said with a lovely smile, "I know you didn't mean it. I was just making a joke with you. Don't be nervous."
Wendy breathed a sigh of relief, but she felt even guiltier in her heart. "Blake, I'm really sorry."
Blake could feel Wendy's sincerity, and her smile became more obvious. She repeated, "It's really okay! Wendy, you're so cute."
"..."
Wendy did not know why Blake was praising her for her cuteness.
But she knew that she couldn't be cruel to Blake anymore.
Bullying such a gentle and delicate girl, she would suspect that she was crazy. She'd better focus on dealing with Gavin in the future.
Gavin was so hateful that no matter how she insulted him, she would have no sense of guilt.
After taking Blake home, Wendy thought for a while and located Gavin's apartment with the sat-nav.
At the same time, Gavin returned to the apartment.
The apartment was quiet as usual, and there was no trace of Wendy.
Gavin realized that Wendy might not come today either.
For some reason, he felt a sense of emptiness.
The apartment was filled with traces of Wendy's visit-
There were a few more sets of clothes in the cloakroom, the fragrance of her hair lingering on the pillow in the bedroom, and her toiletries placed in the bathroom...
She hadn't been there for a few days, but there were traces of her everywhere in the apartment.
Gavin sat on the sofa and felt that someone would start shouting at him in the next second. "Gavin, you jerk!"
Thinking of this, Gavin couldn't help smiling.
He treated Wendy that way. In Wendy's heart, he was already a complete jerk, wasn't he?
Why would Wendy have a passion for a jerk like him and be blind to everything else?
Before Gavin could come up with an answer, he heard the familiar sound of the door opening by the card being tapped.
Narrowing his eyes, Gavin stood up and saw Wendy coming in.
Wendy was even more surprised than Gavin. While changing her shoes, she asked, "Why are you back so early today?"
Gavin didn't answer her question, and just asked in a cold voice, "Why are you here again?"
"After being with Blake, you don't have a good memory." Wendy repeated what she had said. "I told you that I would stay at your home!"
"Wendy..."
Before Gavin could finish his words, Wendy interrupted him directly. "You repeated it so many times. I would have listened to you if I was willing. So, Gavin, don't waste your effort."
Gavin paused for a long while before asking, "Have you broken up with Connell?"
As Gavin had done, Wendy threw the question back. "Did Blake tell you that so quickly?"
"She also told me that you think I am a domineering and unreasonable person, and she asked if I bullied you," Gavin sneered. "Since I am so bad, why do you still like me?"
"Just take it as my unique taste." Wendy calmly tilted her head. "Do you have any opinion?"
"..."
Gavin not only had no opinion, he had nothing to say.
Wendy threw her bag onto the bed in the room and was surprised to find that the quilt was folded differently from how she had left it yesterday morning.
She looked at Gavin doubtfully. "Don't hesitate. Answer me quickly. Did you come back last night?"
Gavin said with a sneer, "Do you think it's possible?"
"I saw you and Blake enter the hotel with my own eyes. By rights, it is impossible for you to have come back." Wendy pointed to the quilt in the bedroom. "But, what's going on?"
Something flashed through Gavin's eyes quietly.
When he had gotten up that morning, he had made the bed. Wendy's method of folding the quilt was different to his. She did not miss this subtle detail.
"The housekeeper came here today," Gavin said, "she knew that I liked to fold up the quilt like this, so she helped me make the bed again. What's wrong? Do you have any other suggestions?"
"Well." Wendy stared at Gavin with burning eyes. "Did you really not come back last night?"
Gavin said in an impatient tone, "Do you want to check my entrance and exit record in the hotel?"
Wendy completely dispelled her doubts and said disappointedly, "No, I know you can't control yourself."
"Can't control myself?"
Gavin was both annoyed and amused. "Do you know what you're saying to me?"
"I know." Wendy blinked her eyes, and her clever, bright appearance became particularly attractive. "Gavin, do you really like Blake? If you don't like her, will you do... that kind of thing to her just because she is a very beautiful woman?"
"I am your brother," Gavin emphasized. "Do you think it's suitable for me to discuss this kind of thing with you?"
"As long as I want you to, it is. Rules are set by people. Don't be so rigid." Wendy poked Gavin. "You haven't answered my question."
"For men, it doesn't matter whether you like a woman or not. It's enough as long as she is attractive in some ways." Gavin looked at Wendy. "Are you satisfied with this answer?"
He thought that this answer would hurt Wendy, or at least disappoint her.
However, Wendy's thoughts had gone astray again.
As if she suddenly realized something, she jumped over and grabbed Gavin's hand. "Oh, you admitted that you don't like Blake, right?"
"..."
If Gavin had not dealt with so many tough opponents, he would probably have collapsed.
After Joanne and Freya, he had just witnessed the birth of the third most weird brain in the world.
Seeing that Gavin was not speaking, Wendy became more excited, and firmly announced, "I must have guessed it right!"
"Wendy, they are two different things." Gavin mercilessly poured a bucket of ice water on Wendy. "Don't think you are smart."
"Then you answer my question," Wendy then stubbornly asked, "how did you get to know Blake? How did you establish your relationship?"
She had already heard the answer from Blake. Most importantly, Blake's answer was so beautiful that it made people yearn for it.
If Gavin's answer was different, she could prove that they were not a real couple at all.
Thinking of this, Wendy got slightly excited...
