Chapter 710 Gavin, You Can't Be That Selfish (2)

Wendy had lived for more than 20 years. The biggest difficulty she had encountered was Dolly's disagreement with her when she chose her major.

At that time, all she could think about was how to defend her favorite profession, so she didn't feel tired at all.

She had never experienced being ridiculed and despised in two or three places she consecutively visited in a single day, like it happened this day.

She seemed to understand what it meant to be wronged.

However, she couldn't cry. She couldn't admit defeat to Blake!

After she got in the car, Dr. Torres called to ask how things were going.

"I ignored the fact that I needed to wait," Wendy said, "only when the police come forward can I see the bank's surveillance video. But there are still many cases ahead of me. It'll take at least one day for the police to deal with my request."

Dr. Torres said, "Come back to the hospital first."

After returning to the hospital, Wendy realized that things were getting worse.

This day, Mr. Lin went through another episode, and his situation was not very optimistic. Dr. Torres had informed his family that Mr. Lin was in a critical condition.

Ms. Lin kept on shouting, insisting that she had spent too much money to cure Mr. Lin's disease to no avail, so he had to be a quack!

"I don't want my 2,000 dollars back anymore!" Ms. Lin made a mess in the president's office and shouted, "Fire the intern! Now!"

Wendy heard those words said against her as soon as she arrived at the president's office.

She walked into the office and said, "Ms. Lin."

"How shameless of you to stand before me!" The woman rushed to Wendy with a grim face. "It's all your fault. It's you who led to my father's current situation!"

Wendy flexibly avoided the woman who pounced her way. She frowned and asked, "Why?"

Ms. Lin roared angrily, as if she was treating Wendy as a punching bag, "I just asked you to hand a red packet to the doctor, but you couldn't even handle such a small thing. You're just a good-for-nothing!"

Wendy felt that all her claims were ridiculous, and countered all of Ms. Lin's accusations one by one.

"I'm a doctor. I'm only responsible for treating Mr. Lin's illness, not for running errands for you. So, I'm not obliged to help you hand the red packet to others. Finally, I'm clearly telling you that I would have given the money to Dr. Torres on your behalf, if I had known there was cash in the file bag."

In the end, she firmly and forcefully articulated each word and a strong aura was condensed in the bottom of her eyes. For a moment, Ms. Lin was frightened by her momentum.

After a while, Ms. Lin came to her senses and said with a chuckle, "You didn't know there was cash in the file bag?"

Wendy said coldly and lightly, "You clearly told me that there was information in the bag."

"Ha... How funny," Ms. Lin looked at Wendy sarcastically and said, "Stop pretending. I don't believe you didn't know there was cash inside."

Wendy was about to argue, but Ms. Lin had already turned to the president.

"I've spent so much money, but my father is still in a coma. And your intern dared to pocket my money!" Ms. Lin was so angry that her face was almost deformed. "I won't order you to cure my father immediately, but you must fire this intern right now!"

"Dr. Moore..." the president looked at Wendy and said, "the time we agreed upon has come. You said that you could prove your innocence. Can you show me the evidence now?"

"President, I still need two more days..."

This was Wendy's last hope. She was about to ask the president to give her more time, but the latter interrupted her coldly, "Well, don't struggle in vain. I'll notify the medical department to release your punishment. Go back to the office and pack up your things. Just go."

Wendy shook her head and said, "President, you can't do this."

"I can only do this," said the president in a loud voice with a stern look. "Now the clamor against you on the Internet is too loud. And the patient's family member has the most strident opposition towards you. This matter can't be settled if I don't fire you!"

"..." Wendy suddenly calmed down and looked at the president. "You can fire me without finding out the truth, just to settle the matter, right?"

"..."

The president didn't reply, but his silence clearly led to sacrificing Wendy.

Wendy wanted to laugh, but she felt so sad that she couldn't. The only thing left to do was to return to the office.

It was probably the feeling of being bitterly disappointed.

In order to reduce the impact received by the hospital and appease the family members, the hospital was willing to sacrifice her reputation and future.

Even if the president didn't fire her, she would not stay in such a hospital any longer.

Back in the office, one of her colleagues told her, "The medical department has released the news on the Internet that you have been fired."

Another colleague said indignantly, "The staff of the medical department are always slow in dealing with affairs, but they release the news on the Internet rather quickly. Wendy, are you really going to leave?"

Wendy nodded and said, "Yeah."

Several colleagues were very surprised. Wendy was still fully confident the day prior, insisting that she wanted to prove her innocence.

"I'm indeed leaving, but I won't simply admit it," Wendy replied to put her colleagues at ease. "I will investigate the matter and prove that I never took the money."

The colleagues who knew Wendy a little understood her plan and asked with regret, "Wendy, don't you want to work as an intern here anymore?"

If Wendy still wanted to stay there, she wouldn't be that ready to leave.

She pursed her lips and said, "I will miss you."

She didn't have many things in the hospital. A small cardboard box was big enough. She found a large group of media reporters gathering in front of the building when she went downstairs.

The reporters rushed up as soon as they saw her.

"Miss Moore, you are said to be the cousin of the Everbridge Group's president. Can you explain why you did this?"

Wendy had planned to ignore the reporters, but she suddenly stopped when she heard this question. She stared at the reporter and replied, "No."

"Why?" the journalist asked excitedly, "Can you tell me the reason?"

"Because I didn't take that sum of money at all," Wendy said, "I didn't have the need for it either."

"Since you're innocent, why would the hospital expel you?"

The reporters were reluctant to give up, but Wendy didn't want to respond anymore. She kept saying, "Excuse me," then she went to the parking lot and drove away from the hospital.

It was rumored on the Internet that Wendy was driving a Porsche Panamera. The reporters saw that she was driving such a car, so they pointed their cameras at the car and took a lot of photos.

Wendy sped up after getting rid of the reporters. She was about to arrive at the apartment when she suddenly received a message from Blake-

"I'm at a cafe on Anhua Road. Could we meet?"

Wendy didn't reply. She turned the car and drove straight to Anhua Road.

There was only one cafe on the whole road and it was decorated elegantly. Wendy walked in and saw Blake.

Wendy was worked up, while Blake still looked gentle and harmless. She smiled and waved hello from a sofa.

Wendy walked over. As soon as she stopped in front of her, she heard Blake announcing, "I won."

Blake kept smiling, and she said it in a particularly gentle voice, as if she weren't announcing her victory, but simply greeting Wendy.

Wendy felt it was incredible.

How excellent her acting skills were, to be able to perfectly wear a fake smile?

"What's wrong?" Blake looked at Wendy with great concern and asked, "Aren't you happy that you've lost your favorite job?"

Speaking of job, Wendy unconsciously clenched her fists and said, "Blake, you haven't won as long as I don't give up. Don't be happy too early."

"I don't think so." Blake arrogantly looked at Wendy as a winner. "Let me put it this way... Even if you can prove your innocence, you still lose, because-Gavin won't like you."

The implication was that Wendy had lost on the matter of fighting for Gavin, which meant that she would be the winner in the end.

"It's simply because Gavin didn't see your true colors clearly." Wendy bent down and stared at Blake. "And what you really are happens to be the kind of person he hates the most. Blake, you'd better keep up your act perfectly and never expose yourself. Gavin can hold you up in the sky with his own hands, and he can also let you fall into hell. You should pray for yourself when there's no one around you."

"Ha-" Blake chuckled with a touch of malice and chill in her eyes. "You'd better worry about yourself. Wendy. What's the difference between you and someone with a ruined reputation now?"

"The truth will be revealed sooner or later, and you won't be happy for long," Wendy countered fearlessly. "Blake, I promise that you'll be in a worse situation than I am now."

After that, she left the cafe and drove straight to Gavin's apartment.

To her surprise, Gavin had already gotten off work and returned to his apartment.

She went straight to pack up her things without greeting Gavin.

She was going to leave that place. But before she proved her innocence, she didn't want to see Gavin again.

Gavin, who was sitting on the sofa, said suddenly, "What's your plan?"

"I'll keep on investigating. The whole thing is full of loopholes; I don't believe that I can't find out the truth." After a pause, Wendy lightly added, "If Blake can really hide the truth from the masses, so that I have no way to prove my innocence; at worst, I'll just die with her."

Gavin's temples throbbed, and he suddenly stood up. "Why did you tell Freya that I was investigating this matter for you? Why didn't you ask Chris for help?"

"Because you're a bastard. You actually believed that I would frame Blake!" Wendy was extremely angry. She then said, "Gavin, I will personally take off Blake's mask to prove that she's not worthy of your love, at all."

After a few tough words, she turned around and was about to leave.

Gavin strode over quickly and grabbed Wendy.

He had a vague feeling that Wendy's reason had been exhausted. Maybe she didn't know what she would do next.

Gavin was suddenly afraid. He was afraid that if she left this day, he would lose her forever.

"Wendy," Gavin said with an indifferent and merciless look as a warning, "you'd better not be impulsive."

"Don't worry," Wendy smiled and said word for word, "I will definitely not let Blake go."

Gavin made up his mind and warned her in a gloomy voice, "I won't allow you to hurt Blake."

"..."

As she looked at his eager and protective look, Wendy wanted to lose her temper, to roar, and to rush and bite him.

But finally, all her impulses turned into sneers.

She looked into Gavin's eyes. "Are you afraid? Are you afraid that I'll hurt Blake, or are you afraid that I'll ruin her perfect image?"

Before Gavin could say anything, she violently shook off his hand and shouted with red eyes, "Gavin, it's okay if you don't believe me. It's also okay that you think that I want to frame Blake, but you can't stop me from proving my innocence. You like Blake, and you think she is perfect, but you can't let her smear me so as to protect her perfect image. You can't be this selfish!"
