Chapter 715 I Don't Want to See Him. Ask Him Out

Whether Gavin was lying or not, and what the truth was, became secondary at this moment.

Joanne and Freya were more concerned about Wendy's injury.

But Gavin acted faster than them-

He rushed to the doctor in a single step. "How is Wendy?"

"There's no big problem with her body," the doctor sighed and continued, "except for a few fractures. Especially... the fracture of her right hand is the most serious one."

"..."

All of them understood why the doctor sighed.

Wendy was a surgeon who needed to use the scalpels in the operating room. She must have a pair of healthy hands to do her job.

Otherwise, no matter how solid her theoretical knowledge was, it would still be useless.

But this car accident might ruin her hands and her career.

Gavin grabbed the doctor's hand all of a sudden. "Can her hand recover?"

"Now, it seems that it's not impossible. You can rest assured." The doctor said, "However, it depends on how the patient recovers in the future."

Gavin stared at the doctor and wanted to order him to cure Wendy's hand, but in his heart, he knew that no matter how loud the order was, it was in vain.

He let go of the doctor's hand. Suddenly, his temples stung, and he felt as if his head had been pricked by 10,000 needles.

He could only close his eyes and endure the pain quietly.

Everyone was here, so he couldn't reveal himself. He didn't want to be pitied.

Joanne and Freya's attention were all on Wendy. No one noticed Gavin's abnormality, except Brian, who came over and said, "Let's go to the smoking area."

Gavin looked at Wendy who was lying asleep on the bed, nodded, and followed Brian.

The smoking area was especially used for smoking, and there was a lighter left alone on the cabinet. Gavin lit a cigarette with it and put it back in the original spot.

Joanne did not like the smell of cigarettes. Over time, Brian also gradually rejected this smell, but he did not stop Gavin. He even watched Gavin take several puffs before he asked, "Joanne guessed right, didn't she?"

Joanne just wanted to ask something, but before she could finish, she was interrupted by Gavin's denial,

Freya didn't understand, but Brian did. Joanne wanted to ask Gavin if Wendy had fallen in love with him.

If Wendy liked Gavin, then her love for Connell, as well as her happiness these days, were all fake.

Wendy kept the secret of liking Gavin and pretended to be in love with Connell so as to make others rest assured. Gavin interrupted Joanne, for he wanted to keep this secret for her.

However, in front of Brian, Gavin did not need to hide it anymore.

He took a deep puff on his cigarette and asked in a self-mocking tone, "Is it ironic?"

His question indirectly admitted Wendy's love for him.

But Brian was not surprised at all.

Thus, everything could be explained.

Even if Blake was Gavin's "girlfriend", she was definitely not as important as Wendy in his mind. Gavin would not be so stupid to suspect Wendy because of her.

He probably just wanted to take advantage of this matter to let Wendy give up on him, but he did not expect Wendy to hurt herself.

As for whether it's ironic or not...

It was indeed ironic that the ones who liked each other could not be together.

Brian did not ask Gavin what he intended to do and just said, "I will ask the best doctor to treat Wendy's injury. We will leave the rest to you."

At present, Gavin was most worried that Wendy's right hand could not recover, but Brian would help him with that.

As for the other things, he had to deal with them by himself.

Gavin put out the cigarette. "Thanks."

Brian put his hand on Gavin's shoulder and said, "Let's go back and see Wendy."

Wendy was settled in a single ward. It couldn't match the ward of a private hospital, but it was clean and comfortable.

Brian and Gavin walked into the ward, and the nurse just finished hanging the drip for Wendy.

Gavin looked at Wendy and asked the nurse, "When will she wake up?"

"I'm not sure, but it should be soon." The nurse couldn't help sighing. "We all don't believe that Wendy would pocket the red packet from her family member. We wanted to help her, but we didn't expect her to be so stupid."

Freya suddenly remembered something and asked, "Who decided to fire Wendy?"

The nurse looked at Freya and recognized her as Chris's wife. Seeing Freya smile slightly and kindly, she said defenselessly, "I heard that it was our president and the director of the medical department who decided it together."

"Thank you. I got it." Freya's smile deepened. "Your medical department will get a new leader soon."

It was only then that the nurse noticed the threatening coldness in Freya's smile. Her scalp stiffened, and she hurried out of the room.

She believed that the president could start praying that the Lord and the gods bless Wendy's hands.

Otherwise, maybe the president would be replaced.

As soon as the nurse left, Wendy's eyelashes moved. Joanne saw the movement and called her, "Wendy!"

"..."

Wendy could hear Joanne's voice, but she could not open her eyes.

Her mind was in a mess as if she had fallen into an unknown world. After struggling for a long time, she finally remembered everything about the car accident and everything before it. The pain in her body was also awakened, from the headache to her feet.

She regretted it.

She didn't regret falling in love with Gavin, but her intention to hit Blake.

Since it was her impulsive intention, she rushed to finish it. In the end, she let go of Blake, but she plunged herself into the green belt and suffered the pain for nothing. She was really stupid. No wonder Gavin disliked her.

"Wendy, can you hear me?"

Joanne's voice was very anxious. Wendy suddenly thought that she had done such a stupid thing, and the people who worried about her the most should be Joanne and Freya.

Wendy tried hard to open her eyes and saw the drip and the white ceiling. She realized that she had been sent to the hospital.

"Wendy." Joanne breathed a sigh of relief, but she couldn't help feeling distressed. "Why are you so stupid?"

Wendy had been fine, but Joanne's words made her eyes turn red, and tears streamed down her cheeks.

"It's not me." Wendy choked with sobs. "Cousin, I didn't pocket Mrs. Lin's money, and I didn't go to the bank. It's really not me..."

"I know, I know everything." Joanne took out two pieces of tissues and wiped the tears on Wendy's face. "Why didn't you ask us for help?"

"I..." Wendy cried so hard that she could not finish a complete sentence. She inadvertently saw Gavin standing by the bed and suddenly lost control of her emotions. She breathed heavily but just said after a long time, "Ask Gavin out. I don't want to see him. Ask him out!"

"Wendy, you're injured. Don't move." Joanne tried to calm Wendy.

Wendy could not calm down at all. Gavin seemed to have stung her most sensitive nerves so that her whole body was out of control. She resisted, struggled, and kept repeating the same sentence. "Ask Gavin out. Ask him out!"

"Wendy." Joanne held Wendy. "Stop. Calm down."

"I don't want to see him! It's not me!" Wendy cried so hard that she couldn't speak properly. She only struggled and said, "Cousin, ask him out, ask him out..."

Joanne motioned for Gavin to go out first while comforting Wendy. "I know it's not you. The person who took the money was Blake. Wendy, we already know it. Don't move. Don't pull your wounds."

Gavin silently walked out of the room. When she could not see him, Wendy looked in the direction where he disappeared and burst into tears. Her tears wet the clothes on Joanne's shoulders.

Joanne was too familiar with Wendy's current expression. She vaguely noticed something, and her previous guess was confirmed.

She couldn't help sighing in her heart.

She and Brian liked each other, but they didn't see each other again until 14 years later, and they didn't dare to express their love for each other either. After experiencing much, they found that they had already kept each other deeply in the bottom of their hearts.

She had thought that it was fate's cruel joke, but she didn't expect what had happened to Gavin and Wendy to be fate's real cruel joke.

No wonder Wendy insisted on not asking them for help. Just like when she was at her most helpless moment, she would think of Brian. Wendy was most willing to see Gavin's hand.

But Gavin let her down.

Wendy grabbed Joanne's clothes with both hands. She stopped crying when her forehead was numb, and then she asked in a choked voice, "He doesn't believe me... Cousin, why doesn't Gavin believe me?"

Wendy understood the reason, but she did not want to admit that in Gavin's mind, Blake was more important than her.

Joanne vaguely guessed why Gavin did this, but she could not explain it on behalf of Gavin. She could only comfort Wendy for him, "We believe in you. Wendy, don't be sad. We will help you find out the truth."

Wendy knew that Joanne could help her find out the truth, but for her, the most important thing was never the truth.

She knew the truth more clearly than anyone else.

She just wanted Gavin to know the true colors of Blake, but why did Gavin not believe her? Why was he unwilling to believe half of her words?

At the end of her crying, Wendy could not make any sound, but kept sobbing. Her eyes were red and swollen, and the tip of her white and smooth nose was also red because of her rubbing. Finally, she stopped crying.

"Okay." Joanne was distressed and amused. She wiped away Wendy's tears with a tissue. "I have something to tell you. This is the hospital you used to work in."

As she had expected, Wendy said angrily and resolutely, "I want to be transferred to another hospital!"

She came here as an intern with the dream of being a doctor, but this place even deprived her of the qualification to be a doctor.

Even if she died of her injuries, she would not be treated here!

"It's too late today, and according to your current situation, it is not suitable for you to be transferred to another hospital," Joanne said softly, "I'll help you with the formalities tomorrow and transfer you to our own private hospital, okay?"

Wendy took a deep breath and nodded casually.

Freya said, "Chris is back. You take good care of yourself. Leave the rest to us. By the way, Gavin is such a bastard. Shall I beat him for you?"

Wendy was stunned. She looked at Freya and suddenly let out a sound of "woo". The tears that she had had managed to hold back with difficulty came out again.

It was like a magic trick. In an instant, she cried more fiercely than before, as if her most beloved thing had been ruined.

"..." Freya froze for three seconds and said, "I was just joking with you. Don't take it seriously! You know Gavin's force. Who dares to hurt him?"
