Chapter 716 I Will Think of It as a Signal

Gavin was a jerk-Wendy knew it better than anyone else.

However, after imagining the scene of Gavin getting beaten up, she found that she was still unable to bear it.

No matter how Gavin treated her, she still hoped that Gavin would always be high-spirited, unrestrained, and sound.

Joanne took out two tissues and wanted to wipe away Wendy's tears. But she burst out laughing upon seeing that Wendy was looking as aggrieved as Romy when she was crying.

Freya also couldn't help laughing. She took a tissue from Joanne's hand and wiped Wendy's tears while scolding, "Coward!"

Wendy pursed her lips and was about to cry again. Freya decisively covered her mouth. "If you cry again, you will be a girl like Romy."

When it came to Romy, Wendy remembered that Joanne still had to take care of two little guys. But Brian and Joanne were both here, leaving the two little guys to be taken care of by nannies.

Aiden was okay with it, but Romy was very attached to Brian and Joanne. If her parents didn't keep her company at home so late at night, the little girl would cry more fiercely than she did.

Wendy wiped away her tears and said, "Cousin, you go back."

Freya thought for a moment and said, "Joanne and Brian can go back. Shall I stay with you?"

Wendy shook her head and said, "You can't sleep well here. You all go back. I can do it alone."

Chris flew back to Arlington in the early morning, and knowing that Freya was here, he would definitely come straight over instead of going home to rest. Freya did not want him to be very busy, so she nodded and said, "Then we will come to see you tomorrow."

Wendy tried to force a smile. "Okay."

Before leaving, Brian said to Wendy, "Take good care of yourself. We will deal with other things."

Wendy replied with a "hmm" in a crying voice. She subconsciously wanted to wave goodbye to them, only to find that she could not move her right hand at all.

She was shocked, and her heart sank to the bottom. "Cousin, I..."

"It's just a fracture," Joanne said to reassure Wendy, "and the doctor said that as long as you cooperated with the medical staff, you will recover after some time. Don't worry too much."

Wendy breathed a sigh of relief, and her heart finally returned to its original position. "Oh, then I'll go to sleep."

"Good night." Joanne smiled and closed the door for Wendy.

In the elevator, Freya asked, "Why didn't you tell Wendy the truth?"

"I'm afraid that she can't bear it now." Joanne added, "Let's help her solve the problem of the red packet first. As for her right hand... I'll see how it goes before telling her the truth."

Freya thought about it and nodded in agreement. "Okay."

The three of them went to the parking lot, and their drivers had made the cars ready. Freya looked back at the brightly lit inpatient department and asked, "Can Wendy really do everything alone?"

Brian looked at the white Land Rover parked nearby and said meaningfully, "There is someone who is more worried than us."

Noticing Gavin's car, Freya suddenly remembered something and asked with a rigid expression, "Have you found it?"

Joanne replied with a "hmm" and shook her head, indicating Freya not to say it out.

It was a big deal. However, Wendy did not want to ask them for help because it involved Blake, and Gavin admitted that he trusted Blake, so he did not help Wendy.

Neither of them told the truth. They probably wanted to guard the secrets so that they wouldn't be embarrassed in the future.

In this case, they'd better pretend that they knew nothing.

Freya understood and said with a shrug, "Then I will go back now and have a good sleep. There is still a big thing to do tomorrow."

After watching Freya's car drive away, Brian and Joanne also got in the car.

Joanne rested her head on Brian's shoulder. "I'm a little worried."

Brian held Joanne in his arms, kept her in a comfortable position, and said, "Gavin will handle it well."

"I'm not worried about the red packet," Joanne said in a low voice, "I'm worried about Gavin and Wendy. They..."

Brian's eyes darkened, and he just said, "After this incident, Gavin will not let Wendy get hurt again."

The implication was that Joanne did not have to worry about Wendy.

Joanne knew what it felt like to crazily fall in love with someone, and she also knew what it felt like to be hopeless. Gavin could protect Wendy from harm in the future, but that didn't mean Wendy would be happy.

If she was alone, she could hold an umbrella to shelter herself from the wind and rain, and she could also concentrate on dealing with all the challenges in life.

But once she fell in love with someone else, she would become greedy. She would be eager to stay with and rely on that person.

When these desires were unable to be satisfied, happiness would become a luxury.

Joanne hoped that Wendy would not be hurt, and more precisely, she hoped that Wendy and Gavin could both be happy.

However, the god of destiny made a joke of them...

Joanne sighed softly and got into Brian's arms. "No matter what choice Wendy and Gavin will make in the end, I'll support them."

If they chose to keep their secrets and find their respective happiness, Joanne would pretend that she had known nothing.

If they made the other choice, she would help them get rid of the difficulties and criticisms on their way ahead.

When it came to this kind of thing, Brian had always been in line with Joanne regarding her attitude. President Lambert, who was always assertive and decisive, didn't even bother to consider at this moment. He just said, "Whatever you support is right."

That was to say, what Joanne supported was the truth, and he would also support it.

When they returned to Prime Villas, it was already late at night. Joanne took off her high heels and quietly walked into the children's room.

With the company of Martha, Aiden and Romy were sleeping soundly on the baby's bed.

Seeing Joanne coming back, Martha smiled and said, "Aiden and Romy fell asleep early today. They were quiet and peaceful as if they knew you were not at home."

Joanne felt relieved and kissed the two little girls on their tender faces. When she went back to the room, Brian had already gotten out of the shower. She asked casually, "Where are my clothes?"

Brian paused quietly for half a second and said with a calm look, "I've prepared them for you."

Joanne believed it and went to wash herself in the bathroom, without noticing Brian slightly raise his lips.

Brian helped Joanne close the bathroom door and then went to the children's room to see the two little guys. He counted the time for returning to the room. As expected, as soon as he walked to the door of the bathroom, Joanne's angry voice came from inside. "Brian!"

Ever since she was pregnant, Joanne rarely called Brian by his name in this manner. She would occasionally call him by his name, and most of the time, she would call him honey intimately.

Brian was not surprised that Joanne suddenly called him by his full name. He leaned against the door and asked leisurely, "What's wrong?"

"You're still asking?" Joanne opened the door and walked out. She looked at Brian angrily but helplessly. "Did you do it on purpose?"

After taking a shower, she found that there were no clothes prepared for her in the bathroom, and she could only wrap herself in a bath towel.

Brian looked at Joanne up and down. Her hair on the forehead was stained with small drops of water, while her delicate and beautiful face was like a freshly cooked and shelled egg, plump and tender, which was particularly attractive.

He put his arms around her slim waist and took her into his arms. "Yes, I did it on purpose."

The calm look on his face showed that he was sure that Joanne couldn't do anything to him.

Joanne became angry, really angry. She threatened, "Aren't you afraid that I won't prepare clothes for you next time?"

Brian raised his eyebrows. "No, I'll take it as a signal..."

Joanne understood Brian's meaning instantly and then blushed. Before she could say anything, Brian had kissed her lips and blocked all her protests and dissatisfaction.

Brian was too familiar with her sensitive spots. So he held her in his arms and attacked them one by one.

Not long after, Joanne leaned softly against Brian's chest as if her strength had been drained, allowing him to enjoy whatever he wanted.

He entwined her lips and tongue with hers, and their breathing became audible to each other. They kissed each other passionately, which seemed to have been done with all their might as if they were making an everlasting vow.

Joanne's heart moved slightly, and she unconsciously called Brian, "Honey."

Brian deeply exchanged his breath with hers and absorbed every bit of her sweetness. "Hmm?" After a moment, he calmly said in a magnetic voice with a rising tone, as if he was going to suck people's souls away.

Joanne was in a daze. Other than hugging Brian tightly and responding to him, she had no idea what else she could do.

Brian slightly moved his long fingers of clear joints and undid the bath towel on Joanne. It fell to the ground and rolled into a small heap beside her smooth and white feet.

"Well..."

Joanne's body only felt a chill. She exclaimed and the next second, he picked her up with a pair of hot hands and put her on the familiar queen-size bed. In a daze, she saw the face that made her heart flutter getting closer and closer to her. Finally, two warm and thin lips touched the tip of her nose.

"Joanne..."

Brian called out the name that had been engraved in the bottom of his heart since his adolescence. His deep and husky voice was filled with adoration and pampering.

Having been married for so long and having experienced so much, he still felt extremely lucky when he woke up and saw Joanne's sleeping face every day.

He felt lucky that he had met her. Especially that he had agreed to marry her.

Otherwise, he was unable to imagine what kind of life he would be living now.

Brian's heart moved slightly, and his heart suddenly became soft. He kissed Joanne's lips and said, "I love you."

Joanne opened her eyes slightly, and in a daze, she saw the tenderness that was about to overflow Brian's eyes.

She smiled, put her arms around his neck, and pecked him on the lips. Before she could say anything, Brian took the chance to contain her lips in his mouth, grabbed the initiative, and deepen the kiss recklessly.

Naturally, the two of them were in complete harmony and explored the secret happiness of the other world together.

The night was gentle, quiet and beautiful for some people.

But for Gavin, it was the worst night of his life, worse than the night when Dolly told him about his family background.

Wendy did not want to see him, so he had disappeared from her sight, but he did not leave the hospital. When Brian left, he just came out of Wendy's attending doctor's office, and the situation he had learned didn't allow him to be so optimistic.

The doctor said that even the best orthopedic doctor and the best rehabilitation doctor were unable to cure Wendy's right hand.

If Wendy knew that her right hand would be permanently injured, she would probably... never want to see him again in this life.
