Chapter 726 What's Wrong with Kissing You? If You Have the Ability, Kiss Me!

Before they knew it, the sun had begun to set.

For no reason, Wendy always felt that the autumn evening was bleaker, more open, painful, and elegant than the other seasons'.

Perhaps it was because of the withered yellow leaves, or because of the sunset glow which was beautiful but was about to soon vanish.

When the clock struck half past five in the afternoon, the door of the ward was knocked. Then, Chris came in.

For Chris, Freya was like a strong magnet. No matter where she was, he could always find her first, and focused on her.

Upon seeing Chris, Freya didn't say anything, but the happy smile showed in her eyes couldn't be concealed at all.

Seeing this, Wendy deliberately asked, "Cousin, why do you come here so early? Aren't you busy at the company?"

"..." After a while, Chris looked away from Freya and then said to Wendy, "It's never early to come to see you."

Wendy curled her lips and said, "Don't think I didn't see that you've been staring at my cousin-in-law since you came in. You don't care about me at all..."

After being debunked, Chris did not feel guilty. On the contrary, he looked calmer and said leisurely, "Since you've seen it, I'll tell you the truth-I'm here to pick up your cousin-in-law home."

Wendy turned her head and said, "Just go."

She was not jealous.

Yeah, she was not jealous at all.

"Are you angry?" Freya smiled and said, "We can have dinner with you before leaving."

"Have dinner...?"

Speaking of that, Wendy couldn't help thinking of Gavin and raising the corner of her mouth slightly. Obviously, she was looking forward to it.

She waved at Chris and Freya. "No need, no need. Just go now."

Chris was a little surprised by the change in her attitude. He was about to ask her when Freya touched his hand quietly. They had a tacit understanding, so he took back his question and said, "We're really leaving."

Wendy nodded with a smile. "I'm temporarily partly paralyzed, so I won't see you off."

After leaving the ward, Chris asked Freya, "Do you know why?"

"Of course I know," Freya said briefly, "after we left at noon, Gavin brought food to Wendy. I fed all the takeaway food I brought back to the stray cats."

Chris hesitated for a moment before slowly telling her his guess. "Wendy is waiting for Gavin to come?"

"It's probably like that." Freya sighed and said, "I really hope there will be a reversal."

However, the truth was completely revealed before them, and they couldn't deny it at all.

The reversal... wasn't something that would appear as long as they hoped.

Unless there was a great driven force.

After Chris and Freya left, Wendy had been staring at the clock on the wall. After the clock finally stroke six, she stared at her cell phone again.

Chris just came back from a business trip today, and yet he could get off work so early. Gavin... had no reason to get off work too late, right?

But why hadn't he come yet?

Wendy lay down, sat up, lay down, and sat up again... After repeating the motions dozens of times, she finally couldn't help sending a message to Gavin.

-"If you don't come soon, I'm going to starve to death! [Sad] [Sad]"

After the message was sent, Wendy never looked away from the phone screen. To her disappointment, Gavin didn't reply for a long time.

"Ahh!"

Wendy let out a cry as if she was venting, and put her phone on the bed with the screen facing down. After a while, she picked it up, but Gavin still did not reply.

She finally tasted the feeling of loss-in a split second, her rapid heartbeat slowed down, and she lost interest in everything. Everything in the world became boring and dull.

Gavin was the only one who could cheer her up again. But there was no news from him, no news from him...

Wendy threw the cell phone away and kept sighing like an old man, until the door of the ward was pushed open and Gavin came in with a few boxes of takeout food.

Happiness came as a surprise. Wendy blinked her eyes and confirmed that it was really Gavin. She grinned as if she were the blooming flowers in the sea of flowers, bright and lively.

Gavin couldn't help being stunned.

Sometimes, he really suspected that there was sunshine collected in Wendy's eyes. Otherwise, how could he think of "protecting" her when she smiled?

He wanted to protect her smile, her innocence and happiness, and the rest of her life.

Unfortunately, that was only his wish.

Right now, he couldn't even protect himself.

Gavin covered up all his softness and rapid heartbeat, put down the meal box, and said, "Didn't you say that you were going to starve to death? Have dinner."

Regardless of her hunger, Wendy held her chin and looked at Gavin. "What were you doing when you received my message?"

Gavin obviously didn't want to answer. He placed the portable table in front of Wendy, put the food on the table one by one, and repeated saying in a lukewarm tone, "Have dinner."

Seeing his look, Wendy was even more determined about her speculation. She forced a smile at him and said, "When the message arrived, you were already preparing the takeout food, weren't you?"

She was right.

After work, Gavin couldn't help driving to the restaurant as if he had been enchanted. He ordered a few of Wendy's favorite dishes and asked them to pack up the food.

When he left the restaurant, he received Wendy's message. He first felt incredible-why was Wendy so sure that he would send her food?

At that moment, the boxes in his hand became a kind of irony.

Wendy was right. He not only prepared dinner for her, but also specially ordered her favorite food.

Did she sense anything?

Because of this speculation, Gavin could only make himself look indifferent.

"It's because of me that you had a car accident. I should be responsible for taking care of you," Gavin said coldly, "after you recover and are discharged from the hospital, I won't look after you anymore."

Wendy blinked at him as if she hadn't heard his words. "Come here."

Gavin was caught off guard and leaned over in confusion. "What's wrong?"

"Mwah!"

Wendy suddenly kissed Gavin on the face.

Gavin only felt that something warm touched his cheek. When he reacted, Wendy's laughter had already sounded in his ear.

He looked at Wendy in a daze-she was as happy as a child who had secretly got candies. The smile on her face was even brighter than just now, which made her look more attractive.

All of a sudden, his heart softened uncontrollably.

The next second, Gavin realized that this was not the reaction he should have had.

She was going too farther and farther. If he continued to pamper her, things would only get out of control.

Soon, anger showed up on Gavin's face. He looked at Wendy gloomily, but Wendy was not scared at all. She pursed her lips and asked, "Are you angry?"

"Wendy." Gavin gnashed his teeth. "Do you think I've been too kind to you these days?"

"Are you really angry?" Wendy blinked her eyes and said to herself, "What should you do? Why don't you... give me a kiss back?"

"..." Gavin helplessly realized that he was wrong.

Wendy behaved more excessively than he had imagined. She looked as if he couldn't do anything to her.

If it went on like this, Gavin was afraid that he would get out of the control of reason.

Gavin's face clouded. Without saying anything, he turned around and walked out. Wendy stopped him in time. "Gavin, come back."

"..." Gavin didn't show any sign of turning around.

Wendy anxiously threatened. "Believe it or not, I'll cry right away!"

Gavin turned around angrily and glared at Wendy. "What on earth do you want from me?"

"I want to hear you tell the truth." Wendy calmly looked into Gavin's eyes. "You must have hidden something from me or lied to me. I'll give you a chance. Tell me the truth."

Gavin asked in amusement, "What kind of truth do you want to hear from me?"

"Tell me, do you like me or not?" Wendy said stubbornly, "remember, I want to listen to the 'truth'."

"The truth?"

For Gavin, these two words were ridiculous. He mustn't say them out.

Otherwise, everything would be out of control, and be messier and more complicated than it was now.

"The truth is-I don't like you." Before Wendy could question him, Gavin warned, "So, you'd better stop messing around."

Wendy fearlessly tilted her head. "What if I continue to 'mess around'?"

"I'll send you back to Australia." Gavin narrowed his eyes and said, "I'm not joking with you."

"All right." Wendy pretended to compromise. "Then you answer my last question-have you really loved Blake?"

Gavin avoided Wendy's gaze. "It's my business. It has nothing to do with you."

"Rogue's logic." Wendy couldn't help complaining, "If your business has nothing to do with me, then what right do you have to care about me and send me back to Australia?"

"You don't want me to care about you?" Gavin smiled and said, "Very good. Let's meet again after you're discharged from the hospital." After that, he pretended to leave.

Only then did Wendy realize that she had got herself into trouble. She quickly grabbed Gavin and said, "I allow you to care about me from time to time. I won't mess around anymore. Don't go."

Gavin was mollified finally, and he said in a still stiff tone, "Have dinner!"

Wendy suddenly had an idea. She smiled and said, "Aren't you going to care about me? Feed me!" Seeing that Gavin's face darkened, she continued, "You can't be too overbearing. If you have the right, you have to perform your duty!"

"..."

Gavin picked up the spoon and thought to himself, "One day, I'll find a way to deal with Wendy."

Wendy polished off the soup and dishes. She was very cooperative during the whole process. In the end, she stared at Gavin with a smile, as if she had other plans.

Suddenly, she raised her head, as if she were going to kiss Gavin. But the latter reacted quickly and avoided it in time.

Wendy laughed out loud. She held her chin with one hand and said leisurely, "I was trying to scare you, coward."

She didn't know why Gavin tried to avoid the question if he had been really in love with Blake, but she knew that Gavin didn't tell the truth.

It meant that Gavin probably didn't tell the truth about whether he liked her or not either.

Well, she had kissed Gavin today, and she could think of ways to go further in the future.

She didn't believe that Gavin could keep his mouth shut even if she used all her skills!

In a spirit of fighting, Wendy took out her cell phone and sharply found a report related to her. She clicked on it and felt that she had found a big secret. She couldn't help staring at Gavin...

"Hmph, I'll see how Gavin denies it this time!"
