Chapter 736 I Have Called You So Many Times, but You Didn't Wake Up

"There is another matter which makes me more confused."

Wendy held her chin with her arm and looked at Gavin with her beautiful almond-shaped eyes filled with curiosity.

"Well." Gavin motioned for Wendy to continue, "What are you talking about?"

"Brother Wesley-ah, forget it. I'd better call him Boss Hayes," Wendy said, "What Boss Hayes wanted to say just now is obviously related to me. Why didn't he say it in front of me but asked you to send me back?"

"..." Gavin thought for a moment and finally came up with a reasonable excuse for Wesley. "He wasn't sure if his friend would be able to cure your hand. So he probably doesn't want to let you down in the future."

Wendy shook her head and said with an expression which implied, Im not so gullible, Boss Hayes-didnt seem to care about my opinion of him.

"..." Seeing that the trick had failed, Gavin could only tell her the truth. "Yuna has had quite a great impact on Wesley. Wesley basically doesn't ask women to do things for him now. And he even rarely talks with any female subordinates."

"Oh." Wendy was a bit surprised. "Yuna hurt Boss Hayes this much?"

Gavin reminded her, "Wesley won't like you calling him like that."

"It's his choice to like it or not. But it's up to me to choose the way to call him." Wendy blinked her eyes and smiled as if she had bad intentions. "Gavin, can I cause such a great impact on you?"

Obviously, it was a tough question to answer.

Gavin encircled Wendy's waist with his arms and said calmly, "Call me brother like Yuna does, and I'll tell you the answer."

As expected, Wendy turned her head. She didn't want to talk to Gavin at all, not to mention doing what he requested.

Gavin resolved a crisis just like that and smoothly brought the topic back to the right track. "About Wesley introducing a doctor to you, Do you have anything to say?"

"Of course," Wendy said with a smile, "the next time I see Boss Hayes, I will definitely say thank you to him!"

In terms of the ability to change the topic, Wendy was second to none.

Gavin had to emphasize, "I mean, it can be hope. Don't you have any expectations on this doctor's medical skills?"

Wendy raised her head and looked at Gavin for a moment. "To be honest, I don't."

"Hmm?" Gavin was quite curious. "Why?"

"Because as long as I don't hold any expectations, I will never be disappointed." Wendy said with a calm face, "If Boss Hayes's friend can help me recover, I will thank him for the rest of my life. If he can't, it means that I'd better cut off the expectation. It doesn't matter. I have accepted this possibility, and I won't be sad again. So, it's not that I'm not hopeful, but I'm open to any kind of possibility."

"..." Gavin looked at Wendy and didn't know what to say for a while.

Wendy tilted her head and asked with a smile, "Don't you think it's a wonderful way of viewing it?"

Gavin held Wendy's face and kissed her gently on the lips. After quite a long while, he let go of her and said,

"No matter what the result is, I will face it with you."

"Thank you." Wendy took the initiative to kiss Gavin's lips. After a pause, she added, "Actually, I do believe that miracles can happen."

"What miracle?"

Gavin really wanted to hear what kind of strange logic Wendy would tell this time.

Wendy counted one by one with her fingers.

"A year ago, I was pissed at my mom and said yes to the dean's offer to come to Arlington for exchange. I used to think it wouldn't go well, but I met you here."

"Then, you pretended to be in a relationship with Blake and bought a proposal ring. I thought that that was the end between us, so I wanted to destroy her. However, it somehow ended up tormenting me, but in the end, I got you.

"Now, Dr. Zhang and the other experts all said that my hope of recovery is very slim. But, Boss Hayes brought us a hope-this time, maybe a miracle will appear again!"

Her eyes were shining, and the optimistic look of her expectation for the future made her whole person shine.

Gavin touched her head with a smile. "Wendy, can you always be so optimistic?"

If she could, he would no longer have anything to worry about.

"I can as long as you can always be with me."

Wendy smiled. She seemed to be joking but also looked serious.

In fact, there was no one in the world who could be optimistic when faced with anything.

It was all because of love.

Perhaps it was because she had dear family and friends, or maybe it was because she had someone she deeply loved. They were always by her side, and they were her source of power. That was why she was always optimistic.

Wendy's secret of optimism was Gavin.

"Okay." Gavin looked into Wendy's eyes as if he was committing to her. "As long as I'm alive, I'll always stay by your side."

Wendy didn't understand the profound meaning behind Gavin's words. She excitedly stretched out her finger and said, "Pinky swear!"

A pinky swear was a childish trick. Gavin hadn't tried it after he turned seven. However, looking at Wendy's excited look, he still hooked her white and slender fingers with his and made a seal with her.

Wendy looked at Gavin attentively, and her almond-shaped eyes were full of smiles. "I think there should be another procedure to make the promise."

Gavin asked in confusion, "What procedure?"

Wendy raised her head and kissed Gavin's lips.

Although they had kissed many times, the kisses had always been initiated by Gavin. Wendy's kissing skills could be said to be at the kindergarten level. It was rare for her to take the initiative, and she just stuck her lips on Gavin's.

However, that was enough for Gavin.

Gavin moved his lips, held Wendy's lips, and naturally deepened the kiss.

"Oh..."

Wendy took a clumsy breath, looking for an opportunity to respond to Gavin. Although her movements were rough, she still made Gavin crazy.

By the time Wendy was almost out of breath, Gavin finally let go of her reluctantly. He leaned against her forehead and asked, "Shall I take you to take a shower?"

Wendy licked her lips sweetly and said, "Okay."

After washing up, they cuddled and lay on the bed. Gavin told her, "Don't go down alone again."

Wendy looked at Gavin with a smile. "Are you afraid that I'll run into Blake again?"

"I'm terrified that Blake may hurt you," Gavin said, "What if she rushes toward you like today when you are by yourself?"

"So stupid." Wendy poked Gavin's forehead. "Just tell the security department of the hospital to stop Blake from entering the hospital again. Isn't that enough?"

"Good idea." Gavin kissed Wendy's eyes. "Go to sleep."

Wendy closed her eyes and soon fell into a sweet dream.

The fact that there was little hope for her right hand to recover did not affect her much.

It was because, in her mind, since she had lost the fitness of her right hand, if she didn't sleep well, she would lose more.

Besides, she firmly believed that after hearing the bad news from the doctor, since Boss Hayes brought her the good news, there should be a miracle!

The next day, Wendy woke up early. Seeing that Gavin was still asleep, she pursed her lips and lay quietly on his chest. Her breath was full of his unique scent, which made her feel at ease.

But it didn't take long for her to feel the hunger.

"After all, we've slept for eight hours. It should be okay to wake up Gavin, shouldn't it?"

While thinking, Wendy had already taken action. She patted Gavin on the shoulder and said, "Gavin."

"..." Gavin didn't respond at all.

Wendy didn't overthink. She just thought that Gavin was immersed in his sleep. She used her hair to sweep over his face, but he still didn't respond.

This was strange. Most people would react. Could it be that her movement was too light?

Wendy slowed down her movement unwillingly and shouted in a loud voice, "Gavin!"

After a while, Gavin slowly opened his eyes.

Everything was blurred in Gavin's eyes. His brain seemed to have been emptied of memory. For a moment, he couldn't remember or recall anything. It took him quite a while to come to his senses.

It was one of the symptoms of his illness.

Henry once said that he might leave the world in one of his dreams.

If Wendy hadn't woken him up today...

Gavin didn't dare to continue to imagine.

He held aside Wendy's hair and hugged her. "Morning."

"Morning." Wendy's eyes were full of doubts. "Are you very tired? I've called you so many times, but you haven't woken up the whole time..."

"A little bit." Gavin pretended to be relaxed. "Recently, I've been competing with the Zhong Group for a project. I've been working all day long every day. I've been really busy. So my sleep is heavy."

Wendy had something else to say, but before she could say anything, Gavin had already caught her lips and blocked all her words.

After a deep kiss, Wendy was so trapped in the kiss that she couldn't remember anything. She could only gasp and stare at Gavin in a daze.

She had just woken up, and her face, which had not been adorned with makeup, was clean and charming. Her almond-shaped eyes were blurred, which inadvertently touched his nerves.

Gavin clearly felt something stirring in the depths of his body, but his reason kept warning him-no, he couldn't do anything that might hurt Wendy.

Wendy only noticed that there was a change in Gavin's gaze. She looked at him and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing." Gavin tried to hide it and sat up naturally. "What do you want to eat? I can ask someone to deliver the breakfast."

"Let's have breakfast at the hospital today," Wendy said, "We can go to the diner. I don't want to eat in the ward anymore."

Naturally, Gavin had no objection. He held up Wendy and said, "Go brush your teeth first."

After breakfast, Dr. Zhang came to find Gavin and told him that Wendy should be transferred to the rehabilitation department.

Wendy asked nervously, "Doctor Zhang, what will happen to me after I'm transferred to the rehabilitation department?"

"It's hard to say." Dr. Zhang seemed to be in a dilemma. "Our hospital has the best rehabilitation doctor in the world, but he is not very confident about your situation. It depends on your recovery condition."

"Thank you, I see."

Although Wendy tried her best to maintain courtesy, it was hard to hide the disappointment in her tone.

Gavin went to the company after finishing the formalities for Wendy. He didn't seem to be reassured before leaving, so Wendy had to make a promise to him. "Don't forget what I said yesterday. I won't let my imagination run wild."

Gavin kissed Wendy and then went to the company with peace of mind.

Although Wendy said so, she still couldn't help worrying. In the afternoon, she simply asked the nurse to push her downstairs to feel the breeze while waiting for Gavin to come back.

Before long, Wendy saw Gavin coming back. She was about to call him, but an old foreign doctor in a white coat called out Gavin's English name first...
