Chapter 760 Connell's Appearance

"Bang!"

Wendy slammed the phone upside down on the coffee table.

Although she could not see those unsightly comments, her eyelashes could not help trembling.

She curled up in the corner of the sofa, like an innocent animal being attacked. She could only hide and hug herself tightly, using her hands to protect and comfort herself.

Gavin came out after hanging up the phone in the study. He saw Wendy curl up on the sofa with her head down, shivering. She was not as optimistic as she had promised him.

In fact, there was no one in the world who was naturally optimistic.

Wendy was optimistic because she had lived in an environment full of love and kindness since she was a child. She had never suffered any misfortune or injustice. Even in the red packet incident, she had been proved to be innocent in the end.

It should be the first time she felt the malice of strangers and the first time she was attacked by so many people.

All of this was because of Gavin-

All of a sudden, Gavin's heart seemed to have been punched heavily. His whole heart was smashed into bloody pieces.

He walked over and took Wendy beside him into his arms. He comforted her and said softly, "Don't be afraid. They can't find you here. You won't get hurt."

"I know." Wendy's eyes turned red. "But... how could they say that?"

How could someone raise the banner of justice and attack others wantonly just based on his malicious speculation?

"They were all bought by Rowdy with money." Gavin hugged Wendy more tightly, trying to give her a sense of security. "Don't look at their comments. Ignore them."

Wendy raised her head and looked at Gavin uneasily. "Really?"

Were those people who scolded and attacked her bought by someone else and following his instructions instead of being unreasonable?

"Of course." Gavin tried his best to describe the world as peaceful and beautiful. "Everyone is so busy. Except for some 'professionals', who have time to fix their eyes on this kind of thing on the Internet and comment on it constantly? Just like those who were hired by the Zhong family to attack you, they were bought with money."

Wendy blinked her eyes and asked in confusion, "Why is someone willing to do such a thing?"

"Most things are born because there are a market and a demand." Gavin touched Wendy's head. "Don't think about it. This is not an indication of cardiac surgery diseases. You cannot figure it out."

Wendy was speechless.

Gavin handed Wendy a phone card. "This is my spare card. You can use it for the time being."

Wendy took the small card and asked, "Are you sure I don't have to turn on the airplane mode?"

"I'm sure," Gavin promised. "Don't worry. There won't be any harassing calls. Now, only Joanne and Chris know that you're using this number."

Wendy installed Gavin's card and soon received a call.

It was indeed not a harassing phone call but one from Joanne.

As soon as the phone got through, Joanne said directly, "Wendy, I've discussed it with your cousin-in-law. Before the matter is subsided, you and Gavin's meals will be delivered from our place. In this case, it's better for you to stay away from outsiders."

"Well, okay!" Wendy's focus was seriously diverted. "I like the soup dumplings and braised pork made by your chef the most. I want to eat them every day!"

Joanne didn't expect that Wendy was still in the mood to order. She smiled and said, "Okay. Just call and tell me what you want to eat. Also, if you need anything, just let me know. I'll ask someone to bring it over by the way."

Wendy smiled even more happily. "Thank you, cousin!"

Joanne thought for a moment and reminded her, "Don't read too many comments on the Internet. If you see something bad, don't mind it. Everything will pass."

"I know. I won't read them often!" Wendy snorted. "Gavin said that those people were trolls!"

"Trolls?"

Joanne admired Gavin's explanation from the bottom of her heart. She smiled and said, "Yes, they are all trolls. Don't care what they say."

Obediently, Wendy didn't care or respond, and Gavin refused all the calls from the media. Their "brother-sister love" had been confirmed on the Internet, and the topic continued to grow. There were more and more messages against Wendy, and all kinds of jokes mocking her being scheming appeared on the Internet one after another.

As the parties involved, Gavin and Wendy shut their door to chance visitors and enjoyed the food and drinks at home as if it was none of their business.

In the afternoon, Wendy lay in Gavin's arms and asked, "Is it really okay for us to do this?"

"Hmm?" Gavin peeled a nut and sent the nutlet to Wendy's lips. "What's not good about it?"

The cream-flavored nut was fragrant and crispy. When she ate it, her taste buds seemed to go to heaven for a tour.

Wendy instantly changed her mind. "Forget it. It's good for us to do this!"

Gavin couldn't help pursing his lips, and his smile spread on his face.

He lowered his head and kissed Wendy's lips.

He didn't know how long it would take for the storm to subside.

But he was sure that no matter what he had to bear, he would never let go of Wendy's hand again in this lifetime.

It was not until Wendy's breathing became rapid that Gavin left her lips and asked her, "Are you still afraid?"

He still remembered that Wendy curled up on the sofa in the morning, shivering.

Wendy grabbed Gavin's hand and looked at him, saying, "I'm not afraid if you accompany me like this."

Gavin held Wendy in his arms and said, "I will. Wendy, I love you. I will always be with you."

He would live up to his words as long as nothing happened to him and he could live like a normal person.

In the evening, Wendy accompanied Gavin to work.

After dealing with the business, Gavin accompanied Wendy to binge-watch and complained about the bugs in the plot with her. When the male star she was obsessed with appeared, he covered her eyes with his hands. She shouted to separate his hands, but he kissed her lips, making her full of affection for him.

Public opinions broke out like a flood on the Internet. Vicious attacks and abuse kept refreshing, but the state of Wendy and Gavin was no different from before.

It was Sunday the next day. Blake received an interview from a reporter.

Blake told the reporter that when she was dating Gavin, she could feel that he didn't care about her. On the contrary, he was more worried about his sister Wendy.

What confused her was that Wendy had always held inexplicable hostility toward her. At first, she couldn't understand why. But later, she found out Wendy's feelings for Gavin.

The reporter asked, "So, are you the first person to find out that Wendy has an affair with her brother? Is this discovery the trigger for the red packet incident?"

"Yes, I was more or less aware of it, but they are brother and sister after all, so I didn't think too much about it at first." With this, Blake sneered. "Later, I found out that they actually bought a couple's pajamas."

Then, Blake showed the sales records of pajamas of a certain brand, which clearly showed that Wendy and Gavin each bought a suit of animal-style one-piece pajamas of this brand, and the two sets were designed for couples.

The topic "Gavin, Wendy, and the couple pajamas" quickly became a hot topic, and the comments were even more unpleasant to the eye.

Some people said, "Haha, they are indeed sleeping together!"

Some people asked, "Isn't it inconvenient to take off one-piece pajamas? As expected, they are brother and sister. They are so patient and shameless. I admire them!"

Someone scolded, "These two shameless guys! They insulted the couple pajamas! Those who bought the same style will be able to "role play" in the future, haha."

Wendy couldn't help sneering after reading the news.

Blake didn't mention that she also had pajamas of the same style, but only emphasized the couple style of her and Gavin. If Blake didn't want to guide public opinions to attack her, what did she want to do?

Anyway, no matter what Blake's purpose was, she should be satisfied now-Wendy had suffered many times of insults and accusations she had suffered at that time today.

As soon as she exited the topic page, Wendy's cell phone rang, and there was no caller ID.

Wendy was wondering if she should answer the phone when Gavin woke up. She showed the phone to him and said, "I don't know who's calling."

Gavin thought for a moment and said, "Just answer it. It should be your friend."

He was so sure because there were no more than five people who knew this number. If others wanted to know this number and contact Wendy, they could only rely on Joanne or Freya.

Since Joanne and Freya were willing to give him the number, it meant that this person was safe and trustworthy.

Wendy answered the call, and Connell's roar immediately sounded. "You! What are you doing!"

"..." Wendy subconsciously took the phone away from her ear and said casually, "You should have seen it all on the Internet."

"I wanted to explode on the spot because I saw it!" Connell roared. "What's wrong with you? Why did the matter turn out like this? Don't you know how to respond? Don't you know how to fight back? Are you stupid?"

The comments that Wendy saw were as merciless and unpleasant to the eye as the content that Young Master Wesley saw.

No wonder Young Master Wesley would piss off.

Wendy sat up and said helplessly, "What's there to respond to-are we telling everyone that it's true? As for counterattack... In addition to some netizens' speculations, what's said on the Internet is mostly true. The brother-sister love between Gavin and me is a fact. We have no room to fight back."

Only then did Connell remember that Gavin and Wendy knew nothing about it.

What... fuck!

Young Master Wesley finally calmed down. "Does Aunt Yunjin know about this?"

"My mom is still in Australia. She probably doesn't know about it," Wendy said with distress, "I don't know how to explain it to her."

Connell suddenly changed the subject. "How is your hand injury? Didn't Aunt Yunjin know that you had a car accident?"

"Yeah, she didn't know." Wendy smiled. "But my hand will soon recover. It doesn't matter whether my mom knows about my injury or not."

"You can recover from your injury?" Connell pondered strangely for a moment and suddenly said in a deep voice, "I know."

Wendy blinked her eyes in confusion. "What do you know?"

"Nothing. Take good care of yourself." Connell seemed to come to his senses and said seriously, "I'll help you with what happened between you and Gavin."
