Chapter 78 It Was A Sweet Thing To Have A Wife

"Maya, the chief secretary to your brother." Brian was somewhat surprised. "Don't you know her?"

"... I have visited my brother's company for only a few times, but not so many. I know nobody except his assistant Jack, not to mention the fact that he also changes his secretary often."

While talking, Joanne tilted her head all of a sudden and studied Brian with amusement, "But the capitalists of your type all like seeking for secretaries who are that beautiful, don't you?"

Brian raised the corner of his lip and said, "You would find out if you follow me to my company tomorrow, wouldn't you?"

Joanne replied with a "Huh" and followed Brian getting on the electric vehicle for sightseeing.

"Mr. Brian, morning." Maya Parker greeted Brian gracefully and politely, and then nodded towards Joanne, "Miss Scott, hello, I am Maya Parker and I am the secretary of Boss Scott."

Joanne gave Chris a look and saw that he seemed to have no intention of introducing Maya to her at all.

But it was not a surprise. Chris had been changing his girlfriends one after another over these years. Even she had come across him and his girlfriend dating, he had not bothered to introduce his girlfriend to her, let alone telling his girlfriend that she was his sister.

Whether it was Chris had taken her relationship with Freya into consideration or he had thought that there was no need for him to do the introduction, Joanne had no idea at all.

But, she would be more at ease with Chris doing so. Because it at least had illustrated that-there were no possibilities existing for the women dating with Chris currently to be her sister-in-law.

When it came to this Maya, the atmosphere between her and Chris was not intimate, but also not strange. Based on her understanding of Chris, the relationship between him and Maya was probably more than the simple relation of being a boss and his secretary. However, she had no idea about whether they had crossed the final boundary or not.

She smiled politely yet distantly. "Miss Parker, hello, you can call me Joanne."

The electric vehicle for sightseeing kicked off and drove towards the outdoor playground.

The air on the top of the mountain was clean and refreshing which seemed to have been washed over by the water. When looking from a distant place, people could see the verdant mountain range was of ups and downs amid the dimness; while among the surroundings, there were tall trees which were so green and so flourishing.

The electric vehicle drove through the green shadow shedding on the traffic lane. Once in a while, a few gleams of light golden sunlight swept their faces. The breeze blowing over was already without the coldness of the late spring. There finally came the breath of summer in this city.

The outdoor playground was very spacious. The ones who had arrived early sat under the sun umbrella and chat casually.

They were Gavin, Wesley, the General Manager of HC, and his female companion. Then the others were... Travis and Freya.

The electric vehicle stopped over the entrance of the tennis court. The two gentlemen got down the vehicle at first and supported their respective female mates with their hands in a pretty gentleman way. Joanne held Brian's hands and signalled at him to hold on for a minute.

She intended to have a look at how Chris would react if he saw Freya and Travis together.

Chris saw at a glance that Freya and Travis were sitting opposite each other. It was unknown what Travis had said. Freya laughed a hearty laugh in front of him, patted on Travis's shoulder hard in the end and whispered intimately beside his ears. These two looked like no ordinary friends at all.

Chris had heard long since that Norris Group and Clark Enterprise were seeking for cooperation and their two respective heirs were trying to get into touch with each other to lay the relationship base for their future union.

And now he saw that with his own eyes. There was nothing but contempt in his eyes.

Maya smiled then. "It seems that the Young Master of Clark Enterprise and Miss Norris have good chemistry with each other."

There was an ambiguous radian raising in the corner of Chris's lips. He did not reply straightly. Instead, he directly averted his eyes as if he were not interested in this thing at all and entered the tennis court.

Joanne felt puzzled and she unconsciously held Brian's hands. "What does my brother mean... by doing so?"

Chris had asked for a favor from Brian personally to send Freya into Lambert Group Media, which was to help her fulfill her dream of modeling. Was not that an act of his caring about Freya? However, why did he not respond at all when he saw Freya and Travis having a hearty talk with each other.

Brian raised the corner of his lip a bit and said, "For people like your brother, even he does not have any response on the surface, that does not mean that he has no reaction at all deep inside his heart, do you get my point?"

Joanne looked at Brian confusedly, nodded, and then shook her head. "I do not get your point fully."

Brian let out a sigh. "You will get my point fully in the future."

Joanne shrugged her shoulder indifferently and followed Brian into the tennis court. It did not matter whether she had understood Brian's point or not, Chris would not listen to her advice anyway.

While in the tennis court, when Freya saw Chris and Maya coming together, she was only surprised that he had come here too. She continued joking and chatting with Travis freely. It seemed that she had not given the fact that Chris had been with a new female mate a damn at all. She even did not give Chris a look.

If in previous times, she would have definitely seized the opportunity and gone up to sabotage.

Travis felt pretty confused over this. He smiled, pretending to be joking. Then he said in low voice, "Do you know who the one Chris had brought here was?-His new chief secretary. Hmm, she is pretty good-looking."

Freya replied with a whispering sound and peeled a pistache. "I even do not bother to look at her. For the girlfriends he had been changing over and over again, they were all of this type. They're like the suits he has been wearing because they were all of the same brands. He changes the bottle without changing the wine inside, which is not exciting at all."

Travis laughed out involuntarily.

Freya said then, "As a matter of fact, Chris can't beat you when it comes to hitting on girls. You have been hitting on various girls, from the innocent Lolita type to the mature married woman, from the nurse to the flight attendant, from the cute girl to the super sister. The way you use to hit on the girls are colorful and various. While for the girls Chris has been hitting on, he only loves the career woman who knows how to play the coquetry. From your perspective, will he not get bored if he always likes the strong taste?"

Travis peeled a pistache and handed it over to Freya. "Don't judge other people. He is of high efficiency via doing so-the career woman who knows how to play the coquetry have got both the characters of cute girls and career woman. If he were in association with one career woman, then it would be equal to tasting multiple tastes at the same time. Then, the woman could also be his secretary. Tut, tut, tut, he can kill so many birds with just one stone. He's actually pretty good at making business. As expected, he is a role who can be well matched with Brian among the young generations."

Freya uttered out a "cracking" sound, chewed the pistachio and lifted up her face to look towards other places. It seemed that she actually had not given it a damn at all.

As a matter of fact, Freyaci would nearly be able to accomplish the state of being negligent of Chris. Over these more than ten years, Chris had got the woman replaced one after another, among every one of whom she had almost met. If she had been heart-broken every time when he changed his girlfriend, then there would exist no place in her heart anymore to endure the new wounds.

Seeing that everyone had been here, Gavin stood up and stretched his legs a bit, "Let's play the tennis."

Joanne pulled at Brian's clothing and said, "Could you arrange Freya and my brother to play against each other?"

Brian knew what she was thinking about and said, "I have heard that the secretary to your brother is good at playing the tennis."

"Hum, then it will look much more awesome." Joanne smiled. "Freya was also good at playing tennis. The competition situation of they playing against each other will definitely be wonderful! Freya will not let Maya off easily."

Brian made a small arrangement then. Joanne and he together would play against Gavin and Wesley first.

Gavin got the racket and gave Joanne a glimpse. "Being two great men, is it somewhat unfair of we two to play against you who is a couple?"

Joanne nodded innocently. "Yes, it is extremely unfair."

"Yes." Gavin replied reluctantly. "Actually, I..."

Joanne patted on Gavin's shoulder and interrupted him. Gavin had thought that she would say it was OK. However, she said, "Then I have no choice but to say sorry."

She ran away smilingly upon finishing that. After having been confused for a while, then Gavin realized-what Joanne had meant was that it would be unfair to Wesley and him!

fuck, just have a look at that physique of Wesley. Where had she got the courage!

Joanne handed Brian a racket and had a discussion with him about the areas they would mainly be in charge of later. Surprisingly, Brian had no objection at all and replied. "I will accept your arrangement."

"Do you actually believe in me?" Joanne said half seriously and half-jokingly, "What if my strategies had some errors?"

"It does not matter even there are some errors in your strategies," Brian said lightly, "I have pretty enough strength."

Joanne was speechless. What was called as being proud and arrogant? This was exactly what it was!

The whistling blew off and the tennis competition began. The tennis balls of olive green color marked out the lines of para-curve one after another over the sky. Anyone would have thought that the two great men, Gavin and Wesley, they would definitely beat the young couple who were Brian and Joanne. However, not long after the tennis competition had started, they all found out the winner was actually hard to guess.

Because Brian and Joanne coordinated with each other extremely well.

Though Wesley and Gavin had advantages over both physical strength and strength, Brian was not weak at all and actually, he somewhat surpassed them regarding the playing skill. In order to ensure fairness, they did not throw the ball towards the side of Joanne forcibly. But it happened that Joanne's playing skill was not weaker than those of them at all. Moreover, her physical strength was pretty much better than that of those ordinary girls. There also existed an explicable understanding between Brian and her.

After having been playing for more than half an hour, the two of them were in charge of all the sides respectively. When the ball was partially in the center place, sometimes it was Brian who caught the ball and sometimes it was Joanne who did that. They had never snatched at the ball with each other. It seemed that they had already known that their relative counterpart would catch the ball before the ball finally came over.

In contrast, Wesley and Gavin had caught all the balls no matter how tricky Brian and Joanne's balls were. However, they always snatched at the ball with each other. In the end, usually, neither of them were able to catch the ball and lose one point in the end.

When the first half ended, the male team lost. They threw the rackets to the ball boy, bent over and held their knees, gasping heavily. While on Brian's side, they were at ease instead.

"Are you tired?" Brian took the racket handed over by Joanne and gave it to the ball boy. It happened that someone had sent the mineral water over. He opened one bottle and handed it to Joanne. "Mrs. Lambert, your tennis playing skill is pretty beyond my expectation."

"Mr. Lambert, in Mrs. Lambert's opinion, you also played well." Joanne smiled and drank some water. Then she glimpsed the sweat sliding from the forehead of Brian and said, "You are sweating."

She fetched the towel and wiped the sweat off for Brian naturally.

The small square-shaped towel was pressed against his forehead and sucked the sweat away. She was doing this in a natural way as if she had been doing it for thousands of times. Brian was at a loss and stared at her earnest look. A kind of subtle sense rather than the helplessness crept into his heart.

Gavin on the opposite side mourned grievously. "My opponents have done enormous harm to me! You have won the competition, and you're now even publicly displaying affection right in front of my face!"

Chris who was sitting in the rest area also let out a sigh. "As expected, girls are more outgoing. Even though having been playing tennis with me for so many times, he did not even bother to wipe off the sweat for me."

Only Joanne was not aware that how intimate she and Brian was at all when seen from the appearance. She wiped off the sweat for him attentively and put the towel back. "Let's begin the second half."

Brian fetched the racket and signaled Wesley on the opposite side to change the field. When he was walking with Joanne to the other field, he received Gavin's look which was filled with jealousy and admiration.

He raised the corner of his mouth-What was the use of admiring and being jealousy?

A wife could not be obtained via being jealous and holding admiration.

In the second half, there finally existed a bit of understanding between Wesley and Gavin. They would not snatch at the ball with each other frequently. But Joanne and Brian were of a better mutual understanding and their eyes even met from time to time, which continuously did harm to Gavin. In the end, these two men who were covered with scratch were defeated.

"Have we won?" Joanne looked at Brian incredulously. "Have we really won?"

The best result she had thought over was a tie. However, in the end, they actually beat two men who were of strong physique? Really?

Brian stroked her head and gave her an affirmative answer. "Yes, we did win really."

Joanne made a swoop at Brian excitedly and hugged him. Brian was confused for a while and then smiled, clinging to the one who was extremely happy in his arms.

"Ouch." Gavin closed his eyes. "I would rather die than playing with these two people."

"From my perspective, something is wrong." Wesley stared at Joanne up and down, "Does she look like only being married to Brian on the basis of agreement? If she really treated Brian in such an innocent way, then my Hotpot branch in A City would only cater to her in the future."

"If you had not mentioned it, I would have forgotten to ask you about it. How did it occur to you that you would open your branch in A City? G City was where your family business lies. You had said that you did not count on this to make money early." Gavin was extremely confused.

"What did it have something to do with making money? I would definitely have a deficit." Wesley sneered. "It was only due to the fact that his wife had said she liked eating Hotpot, then someone demanded me to open a branch in A City. He was the one who had decided on the store location and he was also the one who would bear the loss."

"Stop it and talk no further." Gavin put his hand to his forehead. "If you would talk further, then my blood grove would be empty then!"
