Wendy strolled through the garden covered with sunshine.
In the past half month, she had practiced walking just for recovery, and she had been overwhelmed by suffering and sweat. She had no time to enjoy the joy of standing on her feet.
Now, the damn suffering had finally disappeared!
Her every step was unrestrained, allowing her to walk amid the beautiful scenery of the garden.
This kind of feeling was simply fabulous!
Wendy spread her hands and happily spun around under the sun. Then she rushed into the house and threw herself at Joanne.
"Cousin, I'm coming!"
Joanne was shocked by Wendy. She quickly held Wendy's hands and said, "Be careful of your wound."
Wendy did a few jumps on the spot, took an apple from the fruit tray, and said while eating, "Cousin, my hands and feet are fine!"
"You've just recovered but are far away from being fine," Joanne said worriedly. "Be careful. If anything happens to you, your plan tonight will be ruined."
"Don't worry!" Wendy sat cross-legged on the sofa, held her chin with both hands, and said, "I'm a doctor. I know what I'm doing."
Her almond-shaped eyes were shining appealingly as if they were filled with expectations for tonight.
Joanne smiled helplessly. "What would you like to eat for lunch?"
She took a big bite of the apple and jumped up from the sofa. "I'll go and see what food there is in the refrigerator."
While Wendy was "making an investigation" in the kitchen, Freya arrived.
Freya put on a pair of comfortable home shoes and walked into the living room. "Where is Wendy?"
"She is studying what we are going to eat at noon in the kitchen." Joanne's tone was full of helplessness and love. "Having just recovered, she seems to be in the mood to celebrate."
"She's just excited, isn't she?" Freya sat down and said with a sigh, "I'm excited, let alone Wendy. By the way, Joanne, if I had played this trick on your brother, do you think Chris would have agreed earlier?"
Joanne thought for a moment and said, "It depends on the time. If it was in the early stage, it's difficult for my brother to agree. But when it comes to the later stage, you don't need to propose at all."
"What do you mean?"
Freya didn't understand at all. She held a piece of grapefruit in her mouth and didn't know whether to swallow it or spit it out.
Joanne smiled and said, "What I mean is that the same trick does not necessarily apply to everyone. You and my brother are having a very good time now, which is enough. As for other things, think about it just for fun, and don't take it too seriously."
Freya nodded in agreement. Just at this time, Wendy ran out of the kitchen.
Seeing Freya, Wendy's eyes lit up. She ran straight over and said, "Cousin-in-law, you're here!"
"Yeah." Looking at the bright smile on Wendy's face, Freya's mood also improved. She asked curiously, "What did you order?"
"I ordered some for you, some for my cousin, and the others for myself!" Wendy felt very good about herself. "I've taken into account everyone's taste. I did a good job, didn't I?"
Freya smiled and nodded. "It seems that you have really recovered."
When lunch was about to be served, Martha came downstairs and said that Romy had woken up.
Joanne got up from the sofa. "I'll go upstairs and carry her down."
"Hey, let me go instead. I haven't hugged Romy for a long time!"
Wendy rushed upstairs ahead of Joanne. After entering the baby room, she slowed down. She saw that Romy was rolling her black grape-like eyes on the baby bed while clenching her white and tender hand into a fist near her mouth. She looked very cute.
"Romy, sweetheart, let me give you a hug, okay?"
Wendy clapped her hands in front of Romy, but she did it gently because she was afraid that it would wake Aiden up.
Martha asked with concern, "Cousin, the wound on your hand..."
"It's all right." Wendy motioned for Martha to rest assured. "If it's not all right, I don't dare to hug our little baby."
Even so, Wendy's right hand hadn't fully recovered yet. It didn't take long for her to feel sore in her arms. When they went downstairs, she quickly handed the little baby to Joanne.
Romy seemed to realize that Joanne was her mother after staring at her for a short while. She waved her little hands and feet and got into her mother's arms, nestling against her while humming.
"Nice girl, Romy."
Joanne coaxed her daughter with an incredibly gentle look. The little girl obediently rested in her mother's arms. Occasionally, she smiled, which made people suspect that she was an angel who had descended to the human world.
Wendy looked at Joanne and suddenly had a yearning to give birth to such a cute little girl as Romy with Gavin in the future.
Freya touched Wendy's elbow. "Did you start anticipating your future life?"
Wendy nodded. "Yes."
"I'm also influenced by Joanne." Freya said, "Your cousin always wanted a child, but to be honest, this idea never came to my mind until Romy and Aiden were born. Seeing what Joanne and Mr. Brian look like after they had children, I suddenly felt that maybe giving birth to a child was not bad."
Wendy looked at Freya's lower abdomen and smiled meaningfully. "Then, you're pregnant with this little guy, aren't you?"
In terms of meaningful hints, how could Wendy be a match for Freya?
Freya winked and said meaningfully, "After tonight, you will possibly be."
Wendy blushed and coughed. "Right now, I just want to finish the marriage proposal..."
After lunch, Joanne stayed at home and took care of the two little babies. Freya and Wendy left for a membership-based beauty club and asked for a comprehensive package of beauty care for Wendy.
Wendy lay on the beauty bed at the mercy of the service staff, while Freya just sat aside and ate fruit. Wendy couldn't help being curious. "Cousin-in-law, I thought you liked this the most."
"In the past, I did." Freya stroked her belly that had not yet risen. "However, because of this little guy, I have rarely used skincare products."
Once, skincare was Freya's daily routine, but the doctor told her that those products could no longer be used because they would have an impact on the fetus.
Freya had thought that she could not accept it. But, in consideration of the baby's health, she decisively put away the bottles and cans on the dresser and gave away all the reserved products that had not been unwrapped.
She once felt that giving birth to a child was a horrible and bloody thing.
But now, she felt that she had enormous strength and courage. No matter how horrible and bloody the process was, she could accept it as long as the little baby in her belly came to this world in good health.
"Cousin-in-law," Wendy turned around and lay on the beauty bed, looking at Freya curiously, "what were you thinking just now? I think I saw my cousin's image from you."
Freya thought she had heard it wrong.
How could there be an impression of Joanne from her?
Or was it because mothers' love in the world was the same?
Freya avoided the question and teased Wendy, "Are you telling a supernatural story? Don't scare your little nephew."
Wendy uttered a "woo" and cooperated with Freya. "Cousin-in-law, it's my fault..."
The two of them made fun of each other until the beauty care was done.
It was already five o'clock when they went back to Prime Villas.
Wendy was in a hurry. "Cousin, will it be too late?"
"No," Joanne said, "you came back just in time. The stylists have arrived, but the makeup artists are still on the way. You can go upstairs first."
After entering the dressing room, Freya let out a cry of "ouch". "Wendy, Joanne did her best to help you. They're the stylists hired by her and those first-line female stars."
Wendy gave Joanne a hug and said, "Thank you, Cousin."
"I did so not only for you, but also for Gavin." Joanne touched Wendy's head. "You don't have to thank me. You get your hair done first."
"Okay!"
Wendy sat at the dresser excitedly and let the few artists dress her up.
At the same time, Gavin had just finished his work and was ready to get off work.
Daisy teased him. "Special Assistant Gavin, since you revealed your romance, you've been smiling after work every day. Are you in a good mood?"
"Of course." Gavin turned off the computer and glanced at Daisy. "You have never been in love before, so you won't understand how it feels to be expectant."
A single person was pitiful, and a single person who had never been in love was even more pitiful. Gavin undoubtedly gave Daisy a hard blow.
Daisy angrily tossed a stack of documents down. "I wish you work overtime today!"
Gavin smiled. Just as he was about to say that it was impossible, the indicator light of the fixed phone flashed. Then, Brian's voice came out. "Gavin, come to my office."
Gavin suddenly had a very bad feeling.
When he entered Brian's office, sure enough, he was asked to work overtime.
"I refuse." Gavin said reasonably, "These things are not urgent. There's no need to work overtime. I'm going home to see Wendy."
"It's a temporary condition. These documents need to be done today," Brian said as if he was telling the truth.
Gavin asked doubtfully, "What happened temporarily?"
Brian avoided the question and asked instead, "Wendy is slowly recovering. She can take good care of herself. Also, Noah is downstairs. What are you worried about?"
"Don't mention Noah." Gavin said in a bad tone, "He is Wendy's type."
Brian said with a smile, "So you're worried about Noah."
"Don't put on such a mean smile." Gavin complained, "I don't believe that you can stay calm if Joanne's type lives next door to you."
Brian raised his eyebrows. "Joanne is only obsessed with me."
"..." Gavin really wanted to roll his eyes ten thousand times at Brian.
Brian looked at the time, opened the document, and said slowly, "If you hurry up, you can get these documents done in an hour and a half."
Although Gavin was reluctant, Brian generally wouldn't joke about work. He called Wendy, and the little girl repeatedly promised that she could stay at home alone. Then he hung up the phone, picked up the documents, and went back to the office.
After watching Gavin leave, Brian leisurely closed the documents and sent a message to Joanne-
"Gavin has started working overtime. Don't forget what you promised me."
When Joanne received the message, she was helping Wendy put on the dress.
When she saw the last sentence, the scenes of last night flashed through her mind. She blushed and hurriedly threw her mobile phone into the pocket of her coat, pretending that she didn't see anything...
