At 10 o'clock in the evening, Dolly's flight landed at the international airport in Arlington. She didn't even have time to claim her luggage. She hurried out of the airport and took a taxi to the private hospital.
"Sir, please drive faster."
Along the way, Dolly kept repeating this statement to the driver.
She was more anxious than a cat on hot bricks.
Before coming back from Australia, Dolly had been keeping in touch with Gavin, who had clearly told her that since he had been treated by Noah, the incidence of attacks from his illness had decreased a lot, and that his physical condition was much better than before.
She had thought that Gavin was on the road to recovery, and she even thought that it was lucky that Gavin would possibly get better before Wendy found out about his illness. This meant that Wendy did not have to worry too much about Gavin like what she had experienced more than 20 years ago.
However, this morning, she received a call from Joanne, saying that Gavin had suddenly fainted yesterday-in front of everyone.
The thing that she dreaded most finally happened.
The duration of the more-than-ten-hour flight was the most grueling time for Dolly in over two decades. After finally getting off the plane, she could only keep urging the driver to hurry.
When she arrived at the hospital, Dolly directly gave the driver a few 50-pound notes. She didn't even have time to get the change, and then hurriedly asked the nurse to take her to Gavin's ward.
The atmosphere in the ward was surprisingly relaxed.
Gavin was reclining on the bed, while Wendy was sitting on the chair beside the bed. Her feet was placed on top of Gavin's quilt, and she held a magazine in her hand. Gavin was talking to her, but most of her attention was on the magazine, and she was just answering Gavin absent-mindedly.
Gavin was probably not used to being ignored, so he was angry. He grabbed the magazine and looked at Wendy dangerously. "Do I look better or does the magazine look better? Huh?"
Wendy had always known how to please Gavin. She knew all too well how to answer such a question.
But she hesitated this time.
Gavin took a look at the magazine. Sure enough, there were some western male models with more-than-one-meter-long legs and six-packs.
Wendy bit her finger in her dilemma and asked innocently, "Can I say that you're as good-looking as the models in the magazine?"
Gavin crooked his fingers and pretended to knock Wendy's head. Wendy's shoulders shrank back in fear. In the end, he couldn't bear to do so. He just touched her head gently and said, "You damned girl!"
At that moment, Dolly called, "Gavin, Wendy."
Wendy was stunned and turned around. Sure enough, it was Dolly. She bounced over happily and said, "Mom!"
"You've just recovered. Be careful." Dolly held Wendy. "Does the wound still hurt?"
"It doesn't hurt anymore!" Wendy shook her head and smiled brightly. "Mom, I'm all right now!"
"You've just recovered, but you are still far from being all right!" Dolly helplessly tapped Wendy's forehead. "You'd better be careful."
Wendy saluted her in a mischievous manner and said, "Yes, madam!"
Dolly walked close to the bed, and her helplessness gradually turned into concern. "Gavin, how are you?"
"It's not a big deal actually." Gavin said lightly, "It's the first time that they saw signs of my illness. They were just frightened."
Seeing Gavin looking quite well, Dolly felt a little relieved and said, "I'll go and ask Henry for more information about your condition."
"Henry has gone back to rest." Gavin said, "I'm really fine. You can go back to your apartment."
How could Dolly feel relieved?
"I'll stay and take care of you." Dolly said, "If anything happens, I can contact Henry as soon as possible."
"Mom, it's not necessary." Wendy hurried over and said, "You've been on the plane for a day and you must be very tired. Go back and have a good rest. I can just stay here with Gavin."
Dolly was also worried about Wendy. "You've just recovered. Are you up to it?"
"Of course!" Wendy raised her chin solemnly. "I just got injured, instead of being sick. Since I've recovered, I'm all right, and there's no recovery phase. Mom, you don't have to worry about me!"
Wendy's appearance showed that she had indeed recovered. Besides, it was more appropriate for her to stay with Gavin.
Dolly no longer had any objection to it, and she just gave some advice to Gavin and Wendy. Finally, she took out a small red embroidered bag from her bag and handed it to Wendy.
It was the first time for Wendy to see such a unique little item. She asked curiously, "What's this? It seems sort of old."
"It should be called a Fortune Bag. It contains the amulet your parents kept for you." Dolly said, "Wendy, this is what your parents put on you after the car accident."
Wendy was in a daze for a moment before she took it.
After seeing Dolly off, she looked at the old fortune bag and had mixed feelings about it. She didn't raise her head for a long time.
"Wendy," Gavin waved at Wendy and said, "Come here."
Grasping the fortune bag, Wendy walked over and sat down beside Gavin, with her head down.
Gavin held her in his arms and asked softly, "Why are you so engrossed in your thoughts?"
"I was wondering why my biological parents put this thing on me after the car accident." Wendy smiled. "They wanted me to be safe and sound for the rest of my life, didn't they?"
Although she didn't have any impression of her biological parents, the blood relationship was marvelous.
Looking at the fortune bag, Wendy seemed to be in a trance and could actually feel the struggle and reluctance of her biological parents in the car accident.
It was evident from the photos that the car accident was very serious. The reason why she survived was because her biological parents had shielded her from any harm with their bodies.
At that time, they must have been in great pain, right?
Gavin knew that the little girl felt distressed. He held her in his arms and did not say anything. As expected, she soon buried her face in his arms, like a little ostrich who finally found a safe harbor.
After coming to terms with her sadness, Wendy raised her head and forced a smile at Gavin. "I'm okay."
Gavin stroked her head and said, "Put it away."
The fortune bag was the only connection between Wendy and her biological parents. If she lost it, the little girl would definitely break down.
Wendy put the small bag into her handbag and accidentally felt something hard inside, but she didn't think too much about it. She zipped up her handbag and hung it in the closet in the corner.
When she came back, she looked around and found that the magazine she was reading a moment ago was gone. She looked at Gavin in confusion and asked, "Where is my magazine?"
Gavin said lightly, "It fell to the ground."
Wendy walked to the window and looked down at the ground. She vaguely saw a magazine lying on the grass. She didn't know whether to laugh or cry and poked Gavin. "It's just a magazine. Did you have to do that?"
Gavin raised his eyebrows. "As long as there are males in the magazine, I have to do so."
"..." Wendy turned her head away speechlessly. "You're so boring. Go to sleep!"
Gavin patted the vacant space beside him and said, "Come up."
Wendy snorted and said, "Who said that I was going to sleep with you?"
There was no room for caretakers in this suite. If Wendy was not going to sleep with Gavin, she could only sleep on the floor or on the sofa.
But in such weather, the two choices were obviously not appropriate.
Therefore, Wendy felt a fit of anger.
Gavin didn't talk any more with Wendy. He got out of bed, directly picked her up and put her on the bed.
Wendy was so surprised that she forgot to scream. She looked at Gavin blankly and asked, "How is it... still have the strength to carry me?" "Isn't he sick?"
Since his strength for carrying his girlfriend was being questioned, it would totally be a lie if Gavin, as a man, was not angry.
Gavin had planned to loosen his grip on Wendy, but Wendy's words made him hold her even tighter.
Wendy had a vague premonition of danger. She forced a smile and pulled up the quilt. "Let's sleep."
"Wendy," Gavin turned a deaf ear to Wendy's words, and pressed against her with his body, saying, "I'm wearing a hospital gown, but it doesn't mean that I'm unable to do something."
"Do..."
Wendy held her breath and her almond-shaped eyes blinked rapidly in her panic. "What, what are you talking about?"
Gavin had just planned to tease Wendy, but when she blushed so vividly in her panic, she was too attractive.
He lowered his head. Before he kissed Wendy's lips, the little girl had already closed her eyes obediently, and there was a touch of expectation on her beautiful little face.
The corners of Gavin's mouth curved with satisfaction. He firmly caught Wendy's lips in his mouth, prised apart her teeth with his tongue and kissed her deeply.
Wendy gave in to Gavin's kisses, put her hands on his back, and gradually tightened her grip. In the end, she boldly hugged him and kept responding to his kisses...
Gavin had not planned to go further and he had just wanted to scare the little girl.
However, the little girl's lips really had a kind of indescribable magic. Once he touched them, he would never be able to let them go.
Gavin felt as if he had been possessed. He was reluctant to part with Wendy's lips until he suddenly remembered that they were in the hospital.
While he was still rational, Gavin let go of Wendy and kissed her on the forehead. "Okay, let's go to sleep."
Wendy opened her eyes and bit her lips hesitantly, looking at Gavin with her big clear eyes. "Gavin, I'm all right."
Last time, Gavin said that she had not recovered yet, which would affect her experience, so he stopped.
Now, she was all right. In addition, they were an unmarried couple.
Well, it would be considered... to be appropriate, right?
"Fool." Gavin stroked Wendy's face. "It is the hospital."
Wendy thought for a moment and then blinked. "It... is okay in the hospital."
She looked innocent and bright, as if she was just talking about something that was not a big deal.
Above all, there was a hint of expectation hidden in her eyes.
Gavin felt that something was being ignited. He bit Wendy's lips and said, "Wendy, stop."
Wendy tilted her head in confusion and asked, "Why?"
Gavin's voice became low and hoarse. "I will not be able to restrain myself."
Wendy stared at Gavin for a moment, then suddenly gave him a kiss and said with a smile, "I think... you can't restrain yourself anymore!"
