In the villa next door.
Wendy was still teasing Romy.
She liked to hear the little girl's clear and ringing laughter as if it contained the happiness of the whole world.
Martha couldn't help saying, "When Romy grows up, she must be the happiest angel."
"Also the most beloved little princess." Wendy lightly poked Romy's face and said, "Little girl, you just grow up happily. No matter what happens in the future, your father can help you settle it!"
"Wendy!" Yuna pushed the door open and came in. When she saw the smile on Wendy's face, she bit her words back.
She didn't want to send bad news to Wendy.
Wendy looked at the doorway and wanted to ask why Emily still hadnt returned, only to see Yuna show a complicated look of embarrassment and sympathy.
She suddenly realized something, stood up, and rushed out of the room, happening to meet the club manager and the doctors.
Her slender body suddenly had a burst of breathtaking power. She ran ahead of these men who were more than half a head taller than her, rushed into the villa, and appeared in the study on the second floor in the blink of an eye.
Gavin was lying on the carpet, and his face was pale as if he had lost all his vitality.
Wendy burst into tears and rushed to him desperately. "Gavin!"
She hugged Gavin, and her tears fell on his face, but he did not wake up to wipe her tears.
"Wendy, Gavin's life is not in danger. Don't panic." Joanne tried her best to comfort Wendy. "The doctor has arrived. Let's send Gavin back to the hospital first."
"Okay."
Wendy said in a trembling voice and helped the doctors carry Gavin on the first aid stretcher.
The manager hung up the phone and said, "The helicopter is ready. Let's take Special Assistant Gavin downstairs first, and drive him to the heliport."
The ambulance of the private hospital was parked at the door. When they got downstairs, the doctors ordered to carry Gavin to the ambulance. Then the ambulance drove quickly to the heliport.
After they arrived at the heliport, Gavin was soon successfully placed on the helicopter, and the doctors helped him put on an oxygen mask.
A few minutes later, the helicopter took off and flew to the private hospital.
Joanne used the communication equipment on the helicopter to contact the private hospital and told Henry about Gavin's situation.
Henry replied, "As long as Gavin still has vitality, you don't have to be too afraid. The most important thing now is to bring him back here immediately."
"We are on the way back to the hospital." Although Joanne was worried, she could think and speak calmly. "Please get ready at the helipad on the hospital roof."
"I see."
After Henry ended the call, Joanne also hung up the phone and returned to the rear cabin.
The doctors were taking some basic first aid measures on Gavin and measuring his heart rate and blood pressure. Wendy sat aside with tears in her eyes and held Gavin's hand tightly.
She was no longer as panicked as she had been when she saw Gavin faint for the first time.
On the contrary, she was much calmer and could even assist the doctors in the first aid treatment.
Wendy seemed to be carefree, but in fact, she knew better than anyone else that she would face such an emergency, and she should have been long prepared for that.
Joanne walked over and put one hand on Wendy's shoulder. "I've contacted Henry. He asked us not to worry too much."
"I know. He still has vitality, and he won't leave us like this." Wendy wiped the corners of her eyes, and no one knew whether she was comforting Joanne or herself.
Joanne could only accompany Wendy silently.
In less than twenty minutes, the helicopter landed on the helipad on the roof of the private hospital. The cabin door opened, and Henry came up together with a team of experts. They pushed Gavin into the elevator and went straight to the emergency room.
Along the way, Wendy had been holding Gavin's hand while running as fast as the emergency bed.
At the door of the emergency room, the nurse stopped Wendy. "Please stay outside."
Wendy really wanted to follow in and accompany Gavin, but she couldn't make such a request to the nurse right now. This would only delay Gavin's treatment.
She released Gavin's hand and watched the door of the emergency room close.
Joanne walked over while gasping. "Wendy."
Wendy's nose twitched, and she burst into tears instantly. She turned around and buried her head on Joanne's shoulder. "Cousin, I'm afraid."
"Don't be afraid." Joanne put her arms around Wendy's shoulders, "Henry said that Gavin's life wouldn't be in danger."
"But I don't know when such a thing will happen again." Wendy cried. "Cousin, if something bad happens to Gavin, I won't know how to live."
Joanne held Wendy in her arms and said, "Henry and Dr. Sanchez will find a way. Don't think too much. Just stay with Gavin. Wendy, you are the motivation for Gavin to live. You must be strong."
Wendy nodded. Hearing Joanne's phone ringing, she could only wipe away her tears and leave Joanne, who was her temporary harbor.
Joanne took out her phone from the pocket of her coat, and seeing that it was Brian, she stepped aside to answer the phone.
"Have you arrived at the hospital?" Brian asked.
"Yeah, Gavin is in the emergency room." After a pause, Joanne realized that Brian should be very worried about Gavin, so she continued, "Gavin just suddenly fainted. Henry said that his life would not be in danger, so don't worry too much."
Brian was clearly relieved. "How is Wendy?"
"She burst into tears as soon as Gavin entered the emergency room." Joanne looked at Wendy from a distance. "Don't worry. I will accompany her."
"Fine," said Brian. "I'll be at the hospital soon."
Joanne hung up the phone and went back to tell Wendy, "Your cousin-in-law is coming."
She hoped that Brian's arrival could at least make Wendy feel at ease.
Wendy just nodded and then looked at the emergency room.
After a long while, Wendy suddenly said, "Cousin, I often dream of this scene, where I stay outside the emergency room and wait for Gavin to come out for a long time, but he doesn't appear. I'm afraid that one day, he really won't come out."
"Don't think nonsense." Joanne looked at Wendy firmly. "You and Gavin have experienced a lot before being together. Gavin won't leave you easily."
Wendy nodded with tears in her eyes.
Now, other than believing in Gavin and accepting Joanne's comfort, she had no other choice.
Not long after, Brian arrived at the hospital, followed by Connell.
Wendy was surprised to see Connell. She quickly wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes.
"Well, you don't have to wipe tears." Connell mercilessly exposed Wendy. "It's not like I haven't seen you cry."
Wendy burst into laughter. "When did you come back?"
If she remembered correctly, after she was with Gavin, Connell went abroad. Freya said that Connell would not come back soon.
"I came back after straightening out my idea. I planned to have a talk with Brother Brian when I heard about Gavin's illness." Connell looked at the emergency room. "It turns out to be the real reason."
Back then, he deliberately told Gavin that Wendy loved him.
Gavin also loved Wendy. He thought that Gavin would take the initiative to expose his feelings.
However, he didn't expect that Gavin would ask Blake to be his nominal girlfriend and give Wendy a fatal blow.
Connell had once felt that Gavin must be crazy.
Only now did he realize that Gavin was severely ill.
When Wendy confessed her love to him, Gavin refused her mercilessly, just for fear that Wendy would be sad in the future, right?
He only saw what was before him at that moment, but he didn't know that Gavin had considered Wendy's future.
Wendy didn't quite understand what Connell was talking about, and she followed his gaze and looked at the emergency room.
Not long after, the door of the emergency room opened, and a nurse came out first. She took off her mask and said, "Special Assistant Gavin woke up."
Wendy's face finally showed a hint of joy. She rushed over and called, "Gavin!"
Gavin grabbed her hand and forced a smile. "I'm fine."
Wendy burst into tears, and her tears fell on the back of her hand.
Gavin held her hand and kissed the back of her hand, kissing away the drops of salty tears.
Henry patted Wendy on the shoulder and signaled for her to be at ease. "Take Gavin back to the ward for rest first. He needs to rest now."
Wendy nodded, and she was about to let go of Gavin's hand when she felt that Gavin had tightened his grip on her fingers.
She was stunned and looked at Gavin. Then she smiled, took his hand, and went back to the ward.
Connell stood aside and saw the scene.
On the way here, he was worried about Wendy, for fear that Gavin's illness would affect her mood.
It seemed that his worries were completely unnecessary. For Wendy, it was the happiest thing to be with Gavin, whether he was ill or healthy.
Brian and Joanne did not follow them back to the ward but went to Henry's office.
Brian asked directly, "Henry, how's Gavin?"
Henry's face darkened. "He is getting worse."
This was the last answer that Brian wanted to hear.
But that was the truth.
Henry added, "We carried out a checkup and found that Gavin's current physical condition is very poor. Because he suddenly fainted, we should give him treatment immediately. But his body may not be able to bear it, so we can only give up."
"Then what should we do?" Joanne asked.
"Let Doctor Sanchez help him recuperate for a while first," said Henry. "When Gavin's physical condition is better, he needs to be treated immediately. If the result of this treatment is not satisfactory, he has to have an operation immediately. However, the operation may fail. Once it fails, we will lose Gavin forever."
"..." After a long time, Joanne squeezed out a sentence with difficulty, "Henry, how much is the success rate of the operation?"
"Very low," said Henry. "Mrs. Lambert, the number is chillingly low. So, you'd better not know."
Joanne looked at Brian almost subconsciously. "What should we do?"
At this time, the only person who she could ask for help was Brian.
"Although the success rate of the operation is low, it can at least give Gavin a chance to survive." Brian said, "If Gavin doesn't have an operation, he will definitely leave us."
Joanne understood.
This time, they had to gamble.
