On the top of the mountain.
After Joanne went away, Martha and Yuna were left to take care of the two little babies.
Martha was experienced, but she couldn't deal with the two babies alone. Yuna had no experience at all, so she could only assist Martha, and occasionally she would be in a flurry.
The children's room was in a mess.
Yuna gasped and sighed in her heart, "Sure enough, no pain, no gain."
Brian and Joanne had a son and a daughter at the same time, but it was not easy for them to raise these two little babies!
"Boohoo..."
It took Yuna a lot of effort to handle Aiden. She breathed a sigh of relief, and the next breath was still stuck in her throat when she heard someone else cry.
It was not Romy, for the crying came in from the door.
Yuna looked in the direction of the cries in disbelief. It was really Emily!
She walked over and wiped away the tears on Emily's face. "Emily, what's wrong with you? Why are you crying?"
Emily, in her mind, would never cry for no reason.
"Uncle Gavin..." Emily sobbed and said intermittently, "Just now, I saw that Sister Wendy called Uncle Gavin many times... But, Uncle Gavin had been... been ignoring Sister Wendy... Boohoo... Auntie Yuna, will Uncle Gavin go to the world where my mommy lives?"
"Don't worry, it won't happen." Yuna hugged Emily and comforted him in a soft voice. "Uncle Gavin is not feeling well, so he fainted. The doctor will wake him up, and he won't leave us. Emily, you're afraid that Sister Wendy will be sad, right?"
Emily nodded and said with tears in his eyes, "If Sister Wendy is sad, I will be very sad too."
Yuna took out a wet wipe and wiped away the tears on Emily's face. "Uncle Gavin will be fine. Don't cry anymore. I have to take care of the babies. You can't make any trouble, okay?"
Emily didn't quite understand but nodded. At this time, Romy burst into tears.
Yuna patted her forehead and said, "Oh, no!"
If Aiden cried, the little boy would soon stop crying after being slightly comforted.
However, coaxing Romy was much more challenging. Except for her father and mother, there was no third person in the world who could coax her.
Yuna had no choice but to drag Emily over. Maybe a baby could coax another baby!
Emily rubbed Romy's small face and whispered to her, "Good girl, don't cry. I'll play with you."
Romy glanced at Emily as if she was considering if she would accept his comfort.
Finally, she cried even harder.
Yes, she did not accept Emily's comfort.
Emily tried to coax her again, but still failed.
He felt so distressed for the baby, which kept him from being discouraged. He looked at Yuna and said, "Let's call Auntie Joanne. The baby wants her mother." Then he saw a familiar figure coming in. He was surprised and called, "Mr. Mu!"
Wesley replied with a "hmm". The tense expression on his face disappeared when he saw Yuna staying in the children's room.
Yuna did not take advantage of this rare opportunity to escape, which was very good.
"Come and help me." Yuna held Romy in her arms and looked at Wesley helplessly. "Call Joanne and ask her how to coax this little girl. She is very sad and crying so hard."
Wesley walked over, glanced at Romy, and asked in a low voice, "Whats wrong with her?"
"Romy suddenly started crying so hard. I cannot coax her at all." Yuna said, "The little girl should be eager to see her mother."
Wesley stretched out his hands. "Give her to me."
Yuna was stunned and turned around with Romy in her arms. She looked back at Wesley warily and said, "Let me remind you, it's illegal to treat a baby violently!"
Emily tilted his head and thought for a while. Then he understood what Yuna had said. Mr. Mu was going to violently treat the baby!
He widened his eyes and rushed to Yuna. He opened his hands and stood before Yuna and Romy. "Don't bully the baby and Auntie Yuna!"
Wesley looked down at Emily and gently knocked his head. "If I wanted to bully babies, you would have long cried." After that, he lifted Emily away and ordered Yuna once again, "Give Romy to me."
Yuna tried to coax Romy again. The little girl didn't accept her comfort and cried even harder.
She had no choice but to hand the little girl over to Wesley.
At the worst, she went to contact Joanne!
When Romy was born, Wesley had held her in his arms once in the hospital. At that time, Gavin even specially searched the Internet for the right posture of carrying a baby. He still had an impression of it, so he was quite proficient in holding Romy in his arms.
Then, the miracle happened.
As soon as Romy got into Wesley's arms, she quieted down and stared at him with pure and bright eyes. After a while, she put her little fist into her mouth and bit it with relish, completely forgetting to cry.
Yuna froze when she was about to dial.
If it weren't for the layer of water in Romy's eyes, she would suspect that Romy hadn't cried at all.
She and Aunt Helen, together with Emily, couldn't handle the little girl, but Wesley could easily stop her from crying!
Yuna felt that she was dreaming, but it truly happened in front of her.
On closer inspection, it was not difficult to find that Wesley's posture of holding the baby was very standard. Romy was leaning against his chest in a very comfortable manner and seemed to be enjoying herself.
After a while, she babbled to Wesley and looked at him with a smile.
Romy's crying was earthshaking, but when she smiled, she looked like an angel.
Seeing this, Wesley felt warm in his heart and smiled at the little girl.
Instantly, Romy became excited. She danced and laughed out loud in Wesley's arms.
The little girl's laughter was ringing and clear, like angelic voices coming from a fairyland.
Yuna shook her head in disbelief. "That's impossible."
Wesley glanced at Yuna and said proudly and calmly, "That's the truth."
Emily hopped over and looked at Wesley curiously. "Mr. Mu, why doesn't the baby cry in your arms?"
Wesley said simply to Emily, "The baby likes me."
Emily was stunned for a moment. Then, as if unwilling to face the truth, he snorted and said, "I don't believe it! I have spent more time with her than you. She likes me!"
"Wesley..." Yuna obviously stood on Emily's side, asking, "Is Romy too scared to cry?"
Wesley didn't want to talk to these two losers. He held Romy with one arm and lightly touched the little girl's face with the other.
"Haha..."
Romy was very happy, and they heard her ringing and clear laugter again.
Although Yuna didn't believe it, she had to say, "I'm convinced..."
The more Emily watched, the more unwilling he became. He puffed up his cheeks and thought to himself, "One day, I can make the baby laugh!"
Wesley teased Romy a few more times, and the coldness and stiffness in his eyes had unknowingly faded away.
It turned out that newborn children were much more fun than he had imagined.
He looked forward to his own child more than ever.
Joanne and Brian rushed back. As soon as they entered the house, they went straight to the children's room on the second floor. Before they could catch their breath, they asked, "Did Aiden and Romy cry?"
"Romy cried." Yuna pointed at Wesley. "But when she was in his arms, she suddenly stopped crying. I think Wesley must have scared her!"
"Oh, no." Joanne smiled. "Romy has always liked Wesley."
Wesley had hugged Romy in the private hospital for the first time. She didn't see it, but Gavin told her that Romy hadn't cried and even stared at Wesley for a long time.
That was the only time Romy allowed a stranger to hug her.
Hearing Joanne's voice, Romy turned her head immediately and babbled to Joanne in an injured voice.
Joanne smiled and took her daughter from Wesley's arms.
As if she was reluctant to part with Wesley, Romy looked back at him and finally buried her face in Joanne's arms, acting like a spoiled child in a childish voice.
"Okay, be nice." Joanne kissed her daughter's little face. "Mom is back."
Brian walked to Aiden's crib, took the milk bottle from Martha, and fed him milk.
When Aiden saw his father, he loosened his mouth and babbled, staring at Brian with bright eyes.
Brian stroked the little boy's face with his fingers. "Good boy, drink your milk."
Aiden smiled, kicked his legs in the crib, opened his mouth, and continued to drink milk.
Seeing that, Yuna signaled Wesley to go downstairs, and Emily also followed down.
She asked Wesley, "How is Gavin?"
"The situation is getting worse." Wesley said, "He has to have an operation after another treatment."
"Mr. Mu." Emily tugged at the corner of Wesley's clothes. "Can I go to see Sister Wendy?"
Yuna said, "I also want to see Gavin."
Wesley checked the time. "Not today. Brian and I still have something to do. I'll take you there tomorrow."
Yuna nodded. "Okay"
After lunch, Wesley and Brian left the mountain top. Joanne coaxed the two little babies to sleep and went downstairs with the computer to search for information about Gavin's illness.
Just like what Henry had said, this was an extremely rare genetic disease. There was very little information on the Internet.
However, so what if she found some information?
Even those professional experts could not guarantee that Gavin's operation would succeed. It was impossible for her to do wonders just by searching for the information...
Yuna walked over and sat down beside her. "Are you worried about Gavin?"
Joanne nodded. "Wendy told me today that if something bad happened to Gavin, she wouldn't know how to live."
Yuna understood Wendy's mood, so she didn't know what to say for a while.
In silence, Joanne received a video call from Freya.
She picked up the video call with confusion. "Freya, what's wrong?"
"Hello, my friend on the top of the mountain." Freya's bright smile appeared on the computer screen.
Joanne could not help smiling. "It's pretty fun here. Would you like to live here with my brother for a few days?"
"Let's talk about it later. I want to tell you something else," Freya said with a serious look. "Just now, Wendy called me, and she told me..."
After hearing Freya's words, Joanne was stunned for three seconds.
But on second thought, that's indeed what Wendy would do.
Well, nothing surprising there!
