Chapter 868 Did Not Expect that Brian Was Such a Person

When Joanne came out of the kitchen with the salt shrimps she had just made, she saw Yuna coming in and suddenly felt guilty.

Less than half a minute later, Wesley walked in.

This made Joanne completely nervous.

"Why didn't they come in together?

"Was I more of a hindrance than a help?"

Thinking of this, Joanne broke out in a sweat. "Why hasn't Brian come back yet?" she thought aloud.

She needed her husband to help her!

Wesley didn't notice that Joanne's was in a panic, and said, "Brian is outside."

These words were like the life-saving straw for Joanne. She put down the plate, saying, "I'll go find him!"

Then she rushed off and happened to bump into Brian.

Brian had never seen her in such a hurry after she conceived. He caught her, stroked her messy hair, and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Joanne patted her chest. "I'm just afraid that Wesley..."

"What's going on with Wesley?" Brian frowned and asked.

Joanne told Brian about her giving false information about Yuna's physical condition. In the end, she added, "Wesley and Yuna came in one after the other just now. I'm afraid that they might have quarreled with each other because of my mistake. Will Wesley blame me?"

She had heard that anyone who offended Wesley would come to bad ends.

Being silent for a moment, Brian comforted her with a smile. "Don't worry. In fact, Wesley should thank you."

Joanne shook her head and said, "No need for that."

If she really caused a quarrel between them, she only wished that Wesley didn't punish her. How could she dare to ask for his appreciation?

Brian told her, "Yuna has agreed to marry Wesley."

Joanne was shaken. "Really?" she asked unbelievably.

"Wesley told me in person," Brian said, "just now."

Stunned for a while, Joanne finally realized that there was no contradiction between Wesley and Yuna. He came in late just because he wanted to tell Brian this news.

She actually contributed to their marriage!

Joanne breathed a sigh of relief and suddenly felt proud of herself.

She let go of Brian and smoothed her hair, saying, "When Wesley thanks me, how should I respond? Just tell him 'you are welcome, and you owe me a favor'?"

Brian raised his eyebrow and joked, "That's too polite. You can ask for more."

Joanne was speechless. She did not expect that her husband was such a person.

But she liked it!

"Joanne," Brian suddenly asked, "why did you accept my proposal back then?"

"Why do you ask this?" Joanne was curious, and she soon answered him, "It seemed like I was forced. But in fact, it was because I liked you."

Brian's lips curled up slightly. "If you didn't like me, would you have married me?" He gave another question.

"No," Joanne shook her head without hesitation. "I would have protected myself in other ways. I think... I would never marry someone I don't like."

Brian took it as Joanne's confession of love. He held her in his arms, kissed her forehead, and whispered, " Tell this to Wesley if there is any chance."

Joanne asked in wonder, "Why tell him?"

"He just said that you were forced to marry me," Brian said seriously, "I think it's necessary to let him know the truth."

Joanne was speechless.

She didn't know why the two men would discuss the reason why she married Brian.

However, his serious and childish look was so cute now that she couldn't help smiling.

Brian pulled Joanne closer to him and asked in a low voice, "What's so funny?"

But Joanne just kissed his lips and said, "Let's go in."

The dinner was all served, and everyone was sitting at the table, except Chris.

While Joanne was hesitating whether to wait for him, Freya interrupted her thought and said, "Let's eat. Chris has a social engagement tonight, so we don't need to wait for him."

Freya always believed Chris. Even if he came back early in the morning, she would never ask more. She just filled her belly and waited for him to come back.

After she got pregnant, Chris would usually ask his secretary to reject some unimportant social activities. This was probably why she trusted him so much.

After dinner, it was getting late. Aunt Helen took Emily back to take a shower. Brian and Wesley went upstairs to the study to discuss something. Only Joanne, Yuna, and Freya were left in the living room.

Joanne opened her computer to continue writing about the wedding plan for Gavin and Wendy.

Yuna suddenly said, "Joanne, it's Emily's birthday the day after tomorrow."

Joanne put down the computer and looked at Yuna in confusion, asking, "Why didn't you say that when we were having dinner?" She could tell that Yuna waited until now on purpose.

"In fact, Emily hasn't celebrated any of his birthdays before," Yuna said.

"Why?" Joanne was puzzled. "Emily will be five years old after this birthday. How could he have never had a birthday party?"

After all, she had already planned to celebrate Aiden and Romy's first to eighteenth birthdays before they were born.

How come no one cared about Emily's birthday?

"It is because nobody would help." Yuna tried not to make things serious. "As soon as his mommy passed away, Rowdy sent him to the America. He doesn't remember his son's birthday at all. The nanny took care of Emily only for money and would never put any effort into his birthday."

Joanne got her intention. "So you want to give him a surprise?"

Yuna nodded. "This may be the last thing I can do for him."

Joanne closed the computer and said, "Okay, let's talk about Emily's birthday party first. There's still some time before Wendy and Gavin's wedding. There's no rush."

Yuna knew that Joanne would agree, but she was still moved when she heard what Joanne said. "Thank you, Joanne," she said, feeling touched.

After all, Emily was Rowdy's son. But Joanne could forget about the feud between Brian and Rowdy and celebrate Emily's birthday. Other than thanking her, she did not know what else to say.

"You don't have to thank me." Joanne smiled. "Emily is different from Rowdy. I like him very much. Besides, being Rowdy's son is not his choice. This time, let's celebrate his birthday together just as... a farewell."

Yuna nodded and discussed with Joanne about the cake and decoration. She wrote a memo to note the details that were easily forgotten.

It was ten o'clock by the time Yuna and Joanne had planned everything.

They went through some details, and Yuna rechecked the plan. "Okay, it's all settled," she said.

As soon as she finished speaking, Wesley appeared on the first floor and asked Yuna to return home.

So she got up and said goodbye to Joanne smilingly.

Wesley held Yuna's hand and took her out.

Walking through the garden, Yuna suddenly stopped and said, "I'm a little hungry."

Without saying anything, Wesley took her straight to the club because he didn't want to inconvenience Aunt Helen, who was already asleep.

The club's restaurant was open 24 hours a day. The chef could make whatever Yuna wanted to eat.

The peak time had already passed, so there were only a few guests in the restaurant. Wesley and Yuna sat down by the window.

He ordered many dishes without looking at the menu, and each one of them was what Yuna liked.

The corner of Yuna's mouth twitched. She said, "It's too much. How can I finish it?"

Wesley responded, "Choose what you want."

But Yuna didn't know which one to pick. "I... I like every single one of them."

"Then take a bite of each one of them," Wesley said.

Yuna didn't know what else to say.

The snacks and porridge were quickly served. Wesley passed the chopsticks to Yuna and asked, "What were you talking about with Joanne back then?"

Wesley had seen them discussing heatedly as if they were making some important plans when he was on the stairs.

"The day after tomorrow is Emily's birthday," Yuna answered, "We are going to hold a special birthday party for him."

Wesley looked at Yuna for a moment and then said, "After the party, I will send him back. We have already reached an agreement on it. You can't go back on your words."

This time, Wesley didn't give Yuna any room for negotiation.

Yuna's heart suddenly sank. Her reluctance to part with Emily was like a vine wrapping her heart.

However, Emily had to go back eventually. In the future, the little guy would have to go on his life journey alone.

She could not take care of him for the rest of her life.

Yuna nodded and said, "Okay." She didn't say anything more and immersed herself in eating. While swallowing food, she swallowed her tears, too.

Looking at her, Wesley frowned slightly-that little guy was too important in Yuna's heart.

Wesley was not happy, but he couldn't be jealous of Emily, either.

He could only admit that Rowdy had a son who was more adorable than anyone had imagined.

Perhaps it was because she ate too fast, Yuna was soon full, leaving more than half of the snacks on the table.

But she had been taught that wasting food was shameful since childhood.

Noticing that Yuna was indecisive, Wesley asked the waiter to take the food away and said to her, "Let's go home."

Back at the villa, Yuna simply took a shower and drank a glass of milk before she went to bed.

After she came here, she slept very well every night, as if she had gone back to her carefree childhood.

She thought that this night would be no different. But not long after she fell asleep, the nightmare entangled her and twisted her throat like a viper. She couldn't breathe and could only struggle in her dream...

She could never imagine that the nightmare would become a reality one day...
