Wesley said lightly, "I'm not worried that Yuna will leave."
His tone showed that he was indeed not worried about that.
Joanne was even more curious. "Then what are you worried about?"
"..."
Wesley didn't reply. And for a long time, there was silence at the other end of the line.
Joanne had thought that there was something wrong with the communication network, but she checked her mobile phone and found that the signal was strong and that the call was still connected.
Why didn't Wesley speak?
Joanne was confused when Wesley's voice came. "Last night, Yuna had a nightmare."
Joanne still didn't quite understand Wesley's intention, so she asked further, "So?"
Wesley continued, "Most people have nightmares because they don't feel safe. I want to know why Yuna doesn't feel safe even though I am by her side."
"..." This time, it was Joanne's turn to be speechless.
Wesley asked, "Joanne, did you hear me clearly?"
"Yes..." Joanne's voice was a little low and vague. "I was just a little surprised..."
"Why?" Wesley was confused.
"I'm surprised that you know so much..." Joanne suppressed her curiosity and tried to ask in a normal tone, "You haven't had nightmares, right? How can you know the reason why most people have nightmares?"
In fact, Joanne vaguely guessed the answer.
Wesley paused and said, "I searched for it on the internet in the morning."
"Sure enough, that's the case!"
Joanne found it even more unbelievable, and her voice became lower and vaguer. After a while, she came to her senses and said, "I'll go to see Yuna now."
Yuna got up late in the morning, so she was not sleepy. She and Emily were piling up the building blocks in the living room, and they had built a small house.
Emily first saw Joanne and called politely, "Auntie Joanne"!
Yuna was aware that Joanne had something on her mind, so she asked Aunt Helen to take Emily to sleep. She put away the blocks on the carpet and motioned for Joanne to sit down. "What's the matter?"
Joanne held back her laughter and said, "Just now, Wesley called me and said that you had a nightmare last night. He was worried about you and asked me to come and look at you."
Yuna was stunned. She searched through all the vocabulary she knew and didn't know what to say.
Joanne sat down calmly and continued to throw bombs at Yuna. "Wesley also said that he had searched for the reason of nightmares on the Internet and found that it was because of the lack of security."
Yuna squeezed out one word with difficulty. "So?"
"So, your Boss Hayes is very depressed." Joanne stared at Yuna and continued, "You are obviously by his side, but why do you still feel insecure?"
Yuna quickly understood. "Is that Wesley's question?"
"Yep." Joanne finally couldn't help laughing. "I really didn't expect that Boss Hayes would be anxious about such a thing."
Yuna didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "It's just a nightmare, but Wesley made a big fuss. Besides, after waking up, I... don't even remember the contents of the nightmare."
Joanne could tell that Yuna didn't want to continue this topic, so she turned to ask, "Did you tell Emily about sending him to Wendy tomorrow?"
Yuna nodded. "I told him that we have something to do tomorrow, so I would send him to Wendy, and that he needs to stay there for a day. He agreed."
"The little guy easily believed you." Joanne smiled and said, "Well, tomorrow we will carry out our plan!"
Yuna certainly had no objection. "Okay, it's settled then."
Joanne stood up and naturally went to the previous topic. "Will you be afraid if you sleep alone? If you are afraid, you can sleep in my house."
Yuna pondered for a moment and said, "Joanne, after you go back, if Wesley calls you again, you can remind him not to forget who I used to be. I won't be afraid even if a wolf comes, let alone a nightmare."
Joanne understood what Yuna meant. After thinking for a while, she still said, "Yuna, you have to get used to it gradually. When I was pregnant, Brian also treated me as if I were a fragile object, so that I almost forgot that I was a legal medical expert. Instead, I believed that I was really vulnerable."
Yuna showed a look of understanding. "Do you mean that's what all men will do?"
Joanne shook her head and corrected her. "I mean-that's what the man who loves you will do."
Yuna was stunned. Love was really a word that could easily make people happy and satisfied.
She did not let herself laugh, but the happiness on her lips and in her eyes did not escape Joanne's notice.
Joanne seized this opportunity and added, "Yuna, you're safe here. Wesley will protect you. So, don't think too much. If you don't feel safe, the fetus in your belly can't feel safe either."
Yuna nodded and said, "I see. Go back quickly. Aiden and Romy are still at home."
"Good night."
Joanne returned to the villa next door and sent a text message to Wesley. She simply said that Yuna was fine and he didn't have to worry.
The text message was sent successfully. Before Joanne put down her mobile phone, it had rung.
She thought it was Wesley, but when she answered the phone, she heard Brian's voice.
Joanne suddenly relaxed and sat down on the sofa. "Why don't you and Wesley use your own phones?"
Brian said, "It's not convenient to turn on our phones."
Joanne didn't know why Brian and Wesley spent the whole night outside. But since it was not convenient for them to turn on their phones, they should be doing something very important, right?
She hesitated for a moment and asked, "Is everything going well?"
"It is for now," said Brian. "I'll be back tomorrow morning. Don't worry about me."
Despite Brian's words, Joanne still reminded him to be careful.
"I know." Brian's voice became a little gentler. "Joanne, I love you."
A smile showed up on Joanne's lips. "I love you too."
Brian chuckled and said, "Sleep early. I'll be back when you wake up."
"Okay."
Joanne compressed her lips, and there was clearly a touch of happiness at the corners of her mouth.
She hung up the phone and went upstairs.
Perhaps because Brian said that when she woke up, he would be back, Joanne lay down and had a deep and sound sleep.
In contrast, it was much more difficult for Yuna to fall asleep.
The last time Wesley left her for more than twelve hours was when he returned to Glasgow a few days ago.
For the whole day, she had been eating, drinking, chatting, and laughing with Joanne and others. She didn't have any special feelings about Wesley's departure.
But now, in the darkness, there was mystery and danger everywhere. Only then did Yuna realize that she didn't know where Wesley was or what he was doing.
She only knew that she was worried about Wesley, and that she missed him very much.
Yuna unconsciously reached out and stroked the position where Wesley usually lay.
She had been used to the fact that not long after she lay down, Wesley would lie there, breathe with her at the same pace, and fall asleep at the same time.
But tonight, she couldn't wait for him to be back.
She felt as if her heart were suddenly empty. If Wesley didn't come back, it could not be filled.
Wesley had become an irreplaceable part of her life.
Yuna didn't know whether it was a good thing or not. She only knew that she couldn't do anything about it.
When it was one o'clock in the morning, Yuna still couldn't fall asleep. She went downstairs and unexpectedly found Aunt Helen downstairs.
"Aunt Helen." Yuna walked over and asked, "Why didn't you sleep?"
"I don't know if I'm too old to stay calm. If Little Seven doesn't come back, I can't fall asleep." Aunt Helen shook her head with a wry smile. "What about you? Why did you come downstairs?"
"I..." Yuna stuttered and finally found an excuse. "I came downstairs to drink some water."
"You are also worried about Little Seven and cannot fall asleep, right?" Aunt Helen saw through Yuna and poured her a cup of warm water. "I was young once. You can camouflage your expression, but you cannot camouflage your tone."
Rarely, Yuna was shy. She took the water and took a sip, saying, "Aunt Helen, you don't wait. Go to bed early. Wesley won't come back tonight."
"It doesn't matter to me. But you have to have a good rest." Aunt Helen patted Yuna's hand and said, "Go to sleep. Staying up late is bad for the fetus. I'll go upstairs when I'm sleepy."
Yuna nodded and turned to go upstairs.
She tossed and turned until three o'clock in the morning, and finally fell asleep.
Not long after, Brian and Wesley arrived at the top of the mountain in the gray morning light.
After getting off the helicopter, both of them didn't speak and were anxious to return to their respective houses.
Brian's villa was closer to the helistop, so Brian arrived home first.
He went straight upstairs and pushed the door open, and saw Joanne sleeping soundly on the big soft bed.
There was still the smell of gunpowder on his body, so he didn't get close to Joanne. Instead, he took his leisurewear and went into the bathroom.
Joanne was worried about Brian, so she opened her eyes as soon as dawn broke. She subconsciously looked at the position beside her. Brian had not returned yet.
Before she became disappointed, she heard the sound of running water from the bathroom.
She was too familiar with it, which was the sound of Brian taking a shower!
The surprise came so fast, and Joanne almost jumped off the bed. She ran over and knocked on the bathroom door. "Brian, is it you?"
The sound of running water became lower, and then Brian's voice came out. "Yeah, I just came back."
Joanne smiled, and her hanging heart slowly became calm. Immediately, she felt relieved and relaxed.
"Joanne." Brian's voice came out again.
Joanne answered subconsciously, "Yep!"
"I didn't bring any clothes in," said Brian. "Fetch me a set of leisurewear."
"Okay!" Joanne opened the wardrobe, picked a suit of clothes, pushed open the bathroom door off guard, and then handed him the leisurewear. "Here you are."
At this time, Joanne did not realize that it was his scheme!
