Gavin and the other people only waited for a short while before Wesley came out of the ward.
Wesley motioned Kai to take care of the discharge formalities, and then said to the others, "Aunt Helen and I will go back to Glasgow today."
Joanne raised her hand gingerly and asked, "Can I go inside and talk to Aunt Helen?"
"..."
Wesley glanced at Joanne, and there was a trace of coldness in his eyes.
He felt that Joanne had ulterior motives for seeing Aunt Helen.
Joanne knew what Wesley was worried about, so she added solemnly, "I'm just going to have a small chat with Aunt Helen. I won't talk about anything else!"
Wesley was silenced by Joanne's words. He could only open the door and let Joanne in. "Go," he said.
Joanne slipped into the ward.
Although she told Wesley that she would just chat with Aunt Helen, Wesley would not know if she said something else to Aunt Helen.
Joanne walked directly to Aunt Helen's bed and greeted her, "Aunt Helen."
"Joanne, you've come," Aunt Helen said, "How's your mother-in-law?"
"The doctor treated her wounds. She is fine now," then Joanne changed the subject, "Aunt Helen, I want to talk to you about something else."
Aunt Helen quickly guessed and said, "It's about Yuna, right?"
Joanne nodded, "Yes."
Aunt Helen sighed and said, "I heard about it from Little Seven. I've tried to persuade him, but he insists on going back to Glasgow. Joanne, did you come to me because you found something?"
"Yes," Joanne nodded, "Aunt Helen, I think there might be some misunderstanding between them."
"What misunderstanding?" Aunt Helen sat up and looked at Joanne eagerly, "Joanne, why didn't you tell Little Seven?"
Joanne spread her hands in despair and said, "I wanted to. But he didn't want to listen to me at all. The most important thing is... it's just my idea. I can't be 100% sure that there was really a misunderstanding."
Joanne paused and then continued solemnly, "Aunt Helen, I need you to do me a favor."
"Sure," Aunt Helen nodded, "As long as I can do it, I will definitely help you."
Joanne smiled and said, "Aunt Helen, after you return to Glasgow, please help me pay more attention to Wesley and ask him from time to time about the details when Yuna took the medicine. I think this is the crux of the matter, but Wesley is unwilling to tell me anything."
Aunt Helen patted Joanne's hand and said, "Okay, I'll help you."
Aunt Helen was the person Wesley trusted most. With her help, Joanne would have a smoother investigation.
A grin spread across Joanne's face. "Thank you, Aunt Helen," she said.
"Not at all," Aunt Helen said, "in fact, I am doing it for Wesley. Joanne, you don't know how much I wish it to be just a misunderstanding."
"..." Joanne didn't quite understand and could only wait for Aunt Helen's next words.
Aunt Helen continued, "Yuna is too important to Little Seven. Now that such a thing happened, he is probably completely disappointed in Yuna. After returning to Glasgow, Little Seven will definitely revert to the person he used to be. However, I prefer what he is like now-lively and sentient."
Joanne nodded in agreement.
The Little Seven, who would laugh, cry and be jealous of Emily during this time, was such a cute person.
In comparison, the previous cold-blooded and decisive Brother Wesley... was too horrible.
"Aunt Helen, that's our deal," Joanne made a gesture of making a phone call, "let's keep in touch."
"Okay," Aunt Helen agreed happily, "We'll keep in touch."
Joanne then added, "My mother-in-law is in the ward next door. Would you like to visit her?"
When they were kidnapped by Rowdy, Aunt Helen and Iris depended on each other. They got along well with each other and could always find topics to talk about, which made those days more bearable.
Now as Aunt Helen was about to leave, it would be proper for her to say goodbye to Iris.
Joanne helped Aunt Helen sit up and get in the wheelchair, and pushed her out.
Seeing Aunt Helen coming out, Wesley asked in a hurry, "Aunt Helen, where are you going?"
"I'm going to say goodbye to Brian's mother," Aunt Helen said, "wait for me here."
Wesley glanced at Joanne again.
Joanne spread her hands innocently, saying, "I really just talked about domestic trivia with Aunt Helen. If you don't believe me, you can ask Aunt Helen."
Aunt Helen didn't say anything. Although Wesley had his doubts, he had nothing on Joanne and could only watch her push Aunt Helen into the ward.
Outside the ward, Wesley looked at Brian and said with sarcasm, "I couldn't tell that your wife would be so capable when she was still a young girl."
Brian didn't respond to Wesley's barb. He said, "I know my wife is an able person. As for you, it doesn't matter whether you can see it or not."
Wesley intended to accuse Joanne.
However, in Brian's words, Wesley was praising Joanne..
What's more, Brian said he did not need others to praise his wife.
Damn it! A hen-pecked husband really knows how to protect his wife!
After a while, Joanne pushed Aunt Helen out of Iris's ward. At this time, Kai had settled the formalities for Aunt Helen's discharge and said, "Brother Wesley, our private plane is already on standby at the parking apron on the roof."
Wesley took Aunt Helen's wheelchair and bade farewell to the others, "I'm leaving."
He was completely calm and showed no reluctance to leave.
It was as if he had experienced nothing special when he stayed at Arlington for such a long time: he had never met Yuna, nor did he know that she carried his child and killed this child with her own hands.
Aunt Helen said she didn't want to see Wesley revert to the person he used to be.
However, it seemed to Joanne that Wesley was already back to his old self.
Kai ran to press the elevator button. Soon, Wesley pushed Aunt Helen in and went to the parking apron on the roof.
The hospital had a good soundproof system in order to ensure patients got enough rest. Consequently, Joanne did not hear the private plane take off at all.
However, she knew that Wesley left Arlington and no longer missed Yuna.
Hopefully, it was a brand new beginning for Wesley and Yuna, not the end.
Wendy wiped her eyes and said, "I want to cry..."
"Why?" Joanne asked.
"Because of Boss Hayes," Wendy said in a sobbing tone, "I suddenly pity him. Yuna just left. He should be very sad, but he didn't say anything."
Yes, Wesley should be very sad.
He had thought that Yuna had finally come back to him. She carried his child and even promised to marry him.
If nothing unexpected happened, he would have a complete family soon.
But the child was gone and Yuna left and all this happened overnight.
However, there was no trace of sadness on Wesley's face.
He was sad actually. But he didn't want to show it in front of others.
After all, he was Wesley.
Gavin rubbed Wendy's head and said, "If you dare to say he is pitiful to his face, you will really cry."
Wesley would beat Wendy until she cried.
Wendy knew what Gavin meant. She snorted and said confidently, "Boss Hayes won't beat me!"
Boss Hayes always indulged her a little.
Gavin didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "I'm going to see Aunt Iris. Will you come with me?" He asked.
"Sure!" Wendy said while holding Gavin's hand.
They held each other's hands and entered Iris's ward.
Joanne said softly with a little emotion, "That's so great."
Brian raised his eyebrows and asked, "Who is great?"
"Gavin and Wendy," Joanne answered, "Gavin will receive his last treatment soon. He and Wendy should be the ones who are worried, but they are more optimistic than any of us."
Brian took Joanne's hand and said, "Let's go inside too."
Because of Wendy, the ward suddenly came alive. The girl was chirpy and made Iris laugh. But she never brought up the topic of Iris's experiences in the Kent family.
Wendy talked a lot, but she knew what to say.
She wouldn't say anything improper.
Brian left the hospital soon and went to the company to deal with some business. Gavin had to undergo some checkups.
There were only Iris, Joanne, and Wendy left in the ward.
Wendy asked, "Joanne, will you and cousin-in-law live on the top of the mountain?"
"I don't know yet," Joanne answered, "in fact, I'm tired of living there after staying for so many days. But I have to listen to Brian. If he would like to live there, we can't go home."
Wendy stuck out her tongue and said, "Fine."
Joanne looked at the time and said, "Wendy, I'll go to the supermarket. Do you want to go with me?"
"Yes!" Wendy stood up and said, "I want to buy a lot of snacks. I'm bored here."
"Joanne, why do you need to go to the supermarket?" Iris was not as excited as Wendy, and she suddenly caught the key point.
Joanne responded, "There are kitchen utensils in the suite on the top floor. I want to buy some food and cook for you."
"Don't bother," Iris said, "Aiden and Romy are left on the top of the mountain. Only Simon and Martha are taking care of them. You should go back to accompany them. The nurses here will look after me."
"Mom, don't worry about Aiden and Romy," Joanne said, "They are very well behaved these days. Even Freya can deal with them, what more for Simon and Martha."
After that, Joanne didn't give Iris a chance to say anything more. She directly pulled Wendy away.
There was a large supermarket near the hospital. After Joanne and Wendy went inside, the bodyguards who wore casual clothes also followed them in, protecting them from a distance.
Joanne knew that the bodyguards would keep Wendy and herself safe, so she shopped with ease.
When picking vegetables in the fruit and vegetable area, Joanne suddenly as if someone was staring fixedly at her. She thought that she was thinking too much until a familiar figure came into her sight...
