Brian was also dumbstruck for a while.
He knew well where they were and that his behaviors would frighten her.
He had been able to control himself well all the time. How could he lose control at that time?
He loosened his fist against Joanne and said, "You change clothes first, and I'll wait for you at the outside."
Suddenly, Joanne held his hands and said, "Wait!"
Brian turned back with unclear meanings in his eyes. Joanne was embarrassed and said, "Don't think needlessly. The zipper of my skirt got stuck."
He depressed his feelings with his voice and said, "Turn back and I'll help you."
The zipper indeed had gotten stuck, and he tried to unzip the zipper several times but failed. Joanne said, "It doesn't matter if you try harder."
However, Brian dared not to give a hard push.
The skirt was closely fitted Joanne's curved figure. If Brian tried hard to push the zipper, it might clip to her. She seemed to be a person with rough skin as she usually played around, but actually, her skin was white and tender. Thus, Brian was afraid that he might leave a mark on her fine skin.
However, if he tried to be gentle, he would not be able to avoid to touch her body.
The zipper was around her side and was stuck in the middle while the unzipped part of the skirt revealed her body, which was as smooth and white as milk. Brian's finger would touch on it from time to time, and every touch for him was both enjoyment and torment. When he pulled the zipper too hard, it would go out of his hand, and his hand would bump her chest, which made them embarrassed.
Joanne looked blushed and said, "Brian, my hands ache, can you hurry up?"
She had been raising her hands all the time in order to make it easier for Brian to help her.
"Wait."
Brian gave a hard push and the zipper was finally in the right way. Joanne covered her chest subconsciously and said, "Thanks, you... get out first."
Brian couldn't stay inside anymore, so, he pushed the door open and walked out. Joanne leaned against the wall and let out a sigh of relief.
If it happened in their home and there were no people outside, she might not refuse Brian. Then... she could not imagine what would be happening now...
Did she need to control herself in the future?
Joanne changed into her own clothes and took a deep breath. She came across a familiar but strange person when taking the dress out.
She saw Rosalyn.
It turned out that she had just heard someone call Miss Rosalyn in the fitting room, and that person was calling Rosalyn.
It was not surprising that a big star like her would come to try the dress here, but... Why did Brian sit with her?
There was still a smile around Rosalyn's lips, and obviously, they had chatted with each other very happily before Joanne came out.
Joanne looked away to belie her unhappy feeling. She handed the dress to the designer's assistant and said, "The dress is fine, thank you."
"You're welcome," the girl said, "Then, we'll modify the details on it and send it to you tomorrow."
"OK."
Joanne had to turn around and keep her smile to look at Brian while saying, "Let's go home."
"Miss Scott." Rosalyn came over. "How can we not say hello to each other since we've met here? You are not so hurried to go home, are you?"
"We are not familiar, so, there is no need for us to say hello." Joanne looked extremely aloof. "And, I am married. My husband is surnamed Lu, so, you should call me Mrs. Lambert like other people did from this moment on."
"I am sorry, I can't correct myself in a while." Rosalyn smiled very harmlessly. She lowered her voice and said in a voice that only she and Joanne could hear. "But you definitely will get divorced soon, won't you? Do I still need to correct myself? Moreover, you probably don't know that before you got married, a diamond as superior as Cullinan was unearthed in South Africa and was bought by Brian. As for why he bought it, you can go back and search the posts on the Internet. Then, you can consider whether you want me to correct myself."
Joanne suddenly had a ominous sense of foreboding.
Rosalyn was not a fool and would not speak it out if she could not take the thing as a bargaining chip. She sounded so confident, so, Brian's diamond might...
Brian noticed that Joanne's expression was not quite good. He narrowed his eyes, got up, and took her hand. "Let's go home."
Joanne did not struggle but just followed him without any words along the way.
Rosalyn did not miss the change of Joanne's expression, and she raised the corner of her lips with a triumphant smile. She looked at the dress that Joanne handed to the design assistant and said, "Can I have a look at this dress?"
"Miss Rosalyn, I am sorry. Sophia exclusively designed this dress for Mrs. Lambert."
"I know," Rosalyn said, "I just want to take a look."
Rosalyn was their important customer, so, the assistant could not refuse her and handed the dress to her.
Everyone in the Arlington had heard that Brian, Joanne and Rosalyn were in a love triangle. The assistant was afraid that Rosalyn would make a mess on Joanne's clothes, so she watched her closely. It turned out that she had thought too much because Rosalyn just looked at it and then gave it back to her.
"Put the dress I have customized away for me and now I'm going to choose another one."
In the end, Rosalyn chose a floor-length white dress, the style of which was similar to Joanne's dress.
She was dissatisfied with a few details of it and asked the assistant to modify it.
The assistant sweated after listening to her-Rosalyn's dress would look more similar to Joanne's if it was modified as Rosalyn had asked.
However, Rosalyn didn't allow others to put in a word. "Modify it as I asked and send it to my agent no later than the day after tomorrow! By the way, can you tell me why Brian and Joanne were together in the fitting room?"
"Oh, Mr. Lambert helped his wife check if the dress fitted her," the assistant said, "they had been in for a while when you arrived."
"Get it." Rosalyn left without any expression.
The assistant looked at her elegant and feminine back and secretly sighed. "It seems that there will be a good show on the anniversary celebration of Lambert Group. I wonder who will win in the end between Rosalyn and Joanne."
Joanne was not aware of that the topic lists would be "exploded" by her. She sat lazily in the deputy seat of the car, looking out the window at the fast-flowing lights.
She hadn't spoken any words since they left the dress store, and Brian finally lost his patience. "What did Rosalyn say to you?"
"Nothing." Joanne supported her chin with one hand. "She said nothing except that she knew we would divorce two years later. Apart from this, what else can she use to threaten me?"
Brian slowed down the car and said hesitantly, "Joanne..."
Joanne looked at Brian curiously because he seldom had a hard time like this.
Her interest was aroused, and she said with a smile, "Don't tell me that we can't get divorced after two years."
When they just got married, Brian warned and restrained himself with the word "divorce".
However, he didn't know form when he hated to hear the word more than anyone else.
"Maybe, maybe we won't really get divorced two years later."
Joanne's eyes widened. "Why? Didn't you agree to divorce with me two years later?"
Her expression of surprise was easy to misunderstand. It looked just like... she could not wait to get divorced and accept that they would not get divorced two years later.
"Squeak--"
Brian suddenly stepped on the brake of the car, and the sharp braking sound even could be heard in the car. If Joanne had not worn a seat belt, she would have already fallen down.
She looked at Brian blankly. "Why you suddenly stopped the car?"
Brian looked at her coldly. "Joanne, how much do you expect us to get divorced?"
"..." Joanne looked even more blankly. Brian called her whole name, which meant that he was angry.
How could it be that she was expecting a divorce? When they got married, he took the initiative to mention the divorce to her. She agreed with him cooperatively. What else did he have to be angry about?
And when did she say that she was looking forward to divorcing with him?
"Brian, did you misunderstand anything?" she asked.
"No," Brian said coldly, "you can rest assured that when Chris acquires the Scott Group and Steven loses his power, I will sign up the divorce agreement for you."
Only in a second, Brian became the person who would look at her coldly, arrogantly, and emotionlessly when Joanne just married him.
Just now, in the fitting room, Joanne suspected that Brian had some feeling for her.
However, he woke her up again with his words, letting her recognize her position in his mind.
Joanne raised the corner of her lips and made an effort to put on a bright smile while saying, "Thank you."
Brian's eyes were colder, and even his outline gave her a feeling of coldness. He slammed on the gas pedal, and the car with good performance became a flexible dragon which was rushing with anger in the traffic.
They didn't say any word to each other even after they got home, and they went back to their own rooms respectively.
Joanne felt wronged only when she closed the door but stubbornly held back her tears.
"Why am I crying?"
"There is no reason for me to cry at all, isn't it?
When she thought of Rosalyn's words, she turned on the computer and entered two keywords, "Brian" and "Buy Diamond", on the search bar and clicked Search.
In the Internet age, it was very easy to get information. Reports about Brian overwhelmed Joanne, and the pictures of the diamond Brian bought on the news almost burned her eyes.
In the month before she married Brian, a diamond as superior as the well-known Cullinan was found in a mine in South Africa, but it was very small and not as big as Curinan, thus, somebody could afford it.
Therefore, at the auction, jewelry companies and private collectors all bade for it. Finally, the diamond was bought by Brian at a very high price.
Lambert Group was not involved in the jewelry industry. Brian was not a person interested in jewelry. The media was very curious about why he took this piece of diamond, but he did not disclose anything about the reason.
However, nothing could stump the media.
Brian did not like jewelry, but his rumored girlfriend, Rosalyn, liked it!
Rosalyn had publicly stated in many public occasions that she was fascinated with jewelry and had a collecting habit. She had collected a lot of jewelry in her family. No matter how busy she was during ordinary times, the daily maintenance of these collections was done by her personally, and it was painful for her to let others look at these collections closely.
Therefore, some people speculated that Brian bought this diamond for Rosalyn, but, Brian did not make any statement about it, and Rosalyn's attitude was also vague, so, there was none official answer of why Brian bought it.
Joanne's gaze gradually darkened. She turned off the computer and was upset and realized that she couldn't calm down, so, she took a bathrobe into the bathroom and poured a mess of essential oils into the bathtub before closing her eyes for a bath.
Why did these obstacles always arise when she felt that she and Brian were hopeful and she decided to fight for Brian?
Is it coincidence, or is fate in good faith reminding her not to waste her effort?
