"Joanne, don't move!"
Joanne was familiar with such an order.
This was what Brian usually said in their sexual life.
Joanne sat up in a daze and looked at Brian, asking, "What are you doing?"
Brian showed the medicine in his hand and answered, "It can help ease the lactic acid accumulation in your muscle."
As a forensic doctor, Joanne knew lactic acid accumulation well.
In short, if a person who hadn't exercised for a long time suddenly does energetic exercise, the lactic acid in the muscle tissue would accumulate, which would make his limbs sore.
Joanne had prepared herself to suffer the soreness. Could Brian's medicine help her?
Though noticing Joanne was doubting, Brian did not explain and just said, "When you wake up tomorrow, you will know if it works or not."
Joanne agreed doubtfully and did not say anything more.
After applying the medicine for Joanne, Brian washed his hands and came out of the bathroom. He looked at Joanne for a moment and said, "You look disappointed."
Joanne was speechless.
Brian asked, "What did you think I was doing when you woke up?"
"I..." Joanne wanted to say something but stopped on second thought.
Brian smiled meaningfully. "I see."
Joanne blushed. "Sleep!"
She got into bed and quickly closed her eyes, pretending that she was asleep.
Brian did not expose Joanne. He lay down, held her in his arms and fell asleep in peace.
At Eighth People's Hospital.
Dr. Roberts was on night duty tonight.
After a busy night, Dr. Roberts asked all the medical staff who was on night duty with her to have breakfast together the next morning.
A close doctor asked, "Dr. Roberts, did you go for travel on your half-month vacation?"
"Yes," Dr. Roberts found an excuse, "I was too tired at work recently and wanted to take a break. What's wrong? Did something strange happen when I was not at work?"
Doctors from several departments denied it, but a nurse from the surgical department looked a little hesitant.
Dr. Roberts knew the nurse and asked directly, "Luna, what's wrong with your department?"
Luna stirred the soybean milk in the cup with a straw, answering, "Dr. Roberts, did Wendy from the cardiac surgery department come back to find you at noon yesterday?"
Wendy did come to the hospital yesterday. She was obviously testing Dr. Roberts in the name of consulting. Dr. Roberts could not make sure whether she was on Yuna's side or Rowdy's side.
Worrying about Rowdy's watching, Dr. Roberts didn't dare to ask Yuna directly in case that she accidentally leaked something.
Now that Luna from the surgical department suddenly mentioned Wendy, Dr. Roberts had an intuition that something was wrong. She responded, "She has something to ask me. What's wrong?"
"Here is the thing," Luna said, "a few days ago, a man named Milo and a child named Emily brought two seriously injured old women to our hospital in succession."
Dr. Roberts knew Milo and Emily. One was Rowdy's subordinate, and the other was Rowdy's son.
She also heard of the two old women and knew that they were the hostages kidnapped by Rowdy.
Dr. Roberts hurriedly asked, "What does it have to do with Wendy?"
"After the two old people were sent here, the child asked me to contact Dr. Moore," answered Luna.
Rowdy's son wanted to contact Wendy. Dr. Roberts couldn't help wondering if Wendy was working for Rowdy.
But on second thought, she felt something was wrong.
So she kept asking, "And then?"
"Then I called Dr. Moore and the two old ladies were picked up by someone else," Luna answered with adoration, "the first lady, Mrs. Helen, was taken away by Mr. Mu. He was so handsome!"
Yuna left a man's contact information. She said it was the father of her child.
The man's surname was also Mu. He seemed to be trusted by Yuna.
After Luna contacted Wendy, the people Yuna trusted came to take Rowdy's hostage away.
So, was Wendy working for Rowdy or Yuna?
After breakfast, Dr. Roberts gave Luna a ride on the way home. Wittingly or unwittingly, she mention the handsome Mr. Mu along the way and tactfully asked if Mr. Mu and Mrs. Helen had mentioned a person named Yuna.
Luna tried hard to recall it and said in an uncertain tone, "Maybe, or maybe not. It's been a while, and I can't remember everything clearly except for the handsome guy."
After sending Luna back home, Dr. Roberts stopped the car and started to brainstorm every possibility.
She thought that maybe Emily preferred Yuna and Wendy was on Yuna's side. Therefore, Emily contacted Wendy so that Mr. Mu came to pick up Mrs. Helen in time.
Although this guess was very likely to be true, she had no solid evidence.
She still needed to prove it.
Feeling upset, Dr. Roberts dialed her niece's number. "Norris, are you available for dinner tonight?"
"I think so," Hazel's voice sounded tired, "I stayed up all night doing experiments yesterday and will go back to rest at noon. As long as our patient is fine, I should be able to meet you."
Hazel was Dr. Roberts's niece. She grew up in Glasgow and later studied abroad. She had planned to settle down in a foreign country, but she suddenly returned some time ago and joined a top medical team to study a rare genetic disease.
She should keep the information of the patient completely confidential.
She only told Dr. Roberts that she worked at the private hospital owned by Lambert Group. The person who had the rare genetic disease had a special status.
Dr. Roberts smiled. The one who could live in Lambert Group' private hospital and was treated by numerous top medical experts couldn't be an ordinary person.
"Auntie," Hazel asked, "why did you invite me to dinner?"
"You live by yourself in Arlington and don't have a boyfriend. Your father has asked me to take care of you. I haven't seen you for a long time, so I want to know how you have been recently."
Dr. Roberts hid her real purpose perfectly.
She just thought that maybe she could find out who Wendy was working for from Hazel since Hazel was working at Lambert Group' private hospital and Wendy was the cousin of the wife of Lambert Group' president.
Before she figured out everything, she had to keep it a secret. At least she could not involve Hazel in this mess.
Dr. Roberts saved the number left by Yuna and flushed the note down the toilet.
When Brian's subordinate sneaked into Dr. Roberts's office, he found nothing. The surveillance camera in the hospital did not record Yuna going to the hospital for medical treatment at all.
If they couldn't confirm whether the contact information on the note was Wesley's or not, they couldn't make sure who Dr. Roberts worked for.
Brian ordered his assistant, "Check Dr. Roberts's social relations."
Since they found nothing after sneaking into the office, they had no choice but to find another way out.
Dr. Roberts's social relations were very simple. The result soon came out and there were many coincidences.
Dr. Roberts also had a niece named Hazel who was also a doctor.
Hazel was now working at the private hospital. She was one of the members of Gavin's medical team, mainly responsible for testing and analysis.
Maybe they could confirm Dr. Roberts's identity from Hazel.
If there was something wrong with Dr. Roberts, Hazel could also be kicked out of Gavin's medical team.
When Brian was thinking about where to start, the assistant stuttered, "Mr. Brian, there is more gossip..."
Brian frowned and asked, "Gossip?"
"Well, Hazel and Dr. Noah... know each other," the assistant said, "if we want to acquaint with Hazel, we can start with Dr. Sanchez. Anyway, Dr. Sanchez is one of us."
In the evening, Brian told Joanne all this information.
Joanne was stunned. "What a coincidence. But according to your assistant, Dr. Sanchez and Hazel are more than knowing each other, aren't they?"
Brian said, "Let someone talk with Noah and we'll know everything."
"Right."
Joanne put the cooked soup into two thermos bottles, and then picked them up, saying, "Let's go to the hospital now. Find out the truth!"
When they arrived at the hospital, Brian went to Henry first to ask about Gavin's examination results yesterday.
Henry responded, "The results have come out. All indexes are very good. He can accept the last treatment."
"When is the treatment?" Brian asked.
"The morning of the day after tomorrow," Henry answered, "if Gavin's current physical condition is good, we should do the treatment as soon as possible. After all... we don't know if he will get worse."
Brian did not speak, but his expression became serious, which revealed his emotion.
"Mr. Lambert, don't worry," Henry said, "although we can't guarantee the result, we promise we'll do our best."
Brian took Joanne to Iris's ward and by the way, asked Gavin to come downstairs for dinner.
After the meal, Joanne mentioned that Noah and Hazel knew each other and told Wendy that Hazel was Dr. Roberts's niece.
Wendy was so stunned that she stopped eating her steamed bun. She blinked her eyes and said, "What a coincidence? I told you the relationship between Dr. Sanchez and Hazel is not simple. He used to help her in secret. But Hazel doesn't know he is here. What's a pity."
Joanne said, "We're not sure whether Dr. Roberts is helping Yuna or Rowdy now. But we can start with Hazel."
Wendy nodded in agreement.
"We are not familiar with Hazel," Joanne said, "but you're familiar with Dr. Sanchez. So you'll be the best person to get close to Hazel from Dr. Sanchez. I'll leave this task to you."
Wendy suddenly had a strong sense of vocation. "No problem!" She said.
"There is a problem." Gavin patted Wendy, "Don't go to Noah." He remembered very clearly that Wendy was obsessed with Noah, so he wouldn't let her get in touch with Noah.
"Easy. I just go to find out about the affair between Dr. Sanchez and Hazel," Wendy gave Gavin a reassuring look, "I won't fall in love with someone else so soon."
In other words, she would in the future?
Gavin gnashed his teeth even though he knew that Wendy was joking. "You damned girl," said he.
Seeing a "war" was about to break out, Joanne hurriedly interrupted them, saying, "Wendy, Dr. Roberts's matter is not urgent yet. Let's talk about it later after Gavin finishes the last treatment."
"Okay." Wendy smiled mischievously. "Anyway, Dr. Sanchez is there. He can't run away!"
Gavin really felt that he should be the one to find out the relationship between Noah and Hazel.
He was much smarter than Wendy. He could easily get Noah and Hazel together and by the way, stop Wendy from being obsessed with Noah.
However, considering his current physical condition, he was not allowed to meddle in others' affairs.
