Chapter 952 Boss Hayes, I'm Not Yuna

It was dead silent in the corridor.

"Ahem Ahem..."

After a long while, Wendy coughed so hard as if she had been choked by chili, and her face turned red. She held onto Joanne and remained speechless for a long time.

Wesley narrowed his eyes and asked, "Wendy, why did you react like this?"

"I just happened to cough." Wendy took a few deep breaths before she calmed down. Then, she continued, "Boss Hayes, you're too bossy for me. I'm still young, so let me off."

Wesley looked at Wendy with a poker face. "What do you mean?"

Wendy thought for a moment and said, "To put it simply, I mean, I'm not Yuna."

Wendy firmly believed that except for Yuna, there was no other woman in the world who could put up with Wesley.

She had no idea she had said something she shouldn't.

She mentioned Yuna's name in front of Wesley. Joanne was so scared that she held her breath and imagined how Wesley would break Wendy's wrist.

She even wondered if she should stop Wesley if he did that.

However, if Wesley was really determined to do something, she couldn't stop him at all.

When Joanne was in a dilemma, Wendy finally realized she had made a mistake. She widened her eyes and a comment she had once read flashed across her mind-Run, girl, before it was too late.

Right at that moment, Wesley took a step forward and approached Wendy.

"Ahh!" Wendy was almost scared to cry. "Boss Hayes, Brother Wesley, I didn't say that on purpose. I forgot about what happened between you and Yuna. I really didn't say that on purpose."

Wesley stopped, looked at Wendy, and suddenly smiled.

Wendy cursed and said, "Boss Hayes, although you look handsome when you smile, I still think the smile on your face at this moment looks evil. Will you beat me?"

Wesley slowly replied, "No, because I've promised Gavin that I wouldn't hurt you."

"Huh?" Wendy blinked her eyes. "Why didn't I know that Gavin had asked you to promise that?"

Wesley said, "I didn't know either until this morning."

Wendy could roughly guess what was going on.

That day, Wesley arrived very early, and he and Gavin stayed together alone for some time.

Perhaps during that period, Gavin asked Wesley to take care of her.

Wendy felt like her heart was grabbed by something. She rushed to Wesley and asked, "What's going on? What did Gavin tell you?"

Wesley felt that Wendy had the right to know the truth.

He told Wendy what had happened in the morning briefly.

What Gavin said to him was not complicated.

Gavin told him that he didn't know what would happen after the treatment and that he was afraid he would die during the treatment before he could get an operation.

He also told him that he had made preparations for the worst situation and had transferred all the property under his name to Wendy, so even if she lost her job, she could still spend the rest of her life comfortably.

However, he was still worried about Wendy. After all, money couldn't solve everything.

Gavin was afraid that Wendy would get into trouble and would be framed by others and that there would be something she couldn't handle.

He was afraid that Wendy would be hurt without his protection.

He could only ask Brian and Wesley for help.

Since Wendy was Joanne's cousin, Brian would certainly take care of her.

However, Gavin still wished that people all over the world would take care of Wendy on his behalf.

Therefore, he asked Wesley for a favor.

In this case, Wesley couldn't refuse.

After Wendy heard that, the tears she had been holding back all the morning streamed down her face.

"Wendy." Joanne walked over, took the handkerchief from Wendy's hand, and wiped her tears off. "Gavin must be worried about you now. Don't cry, otherwise, you'll make him more worried."

However, at her words, Wendy cried even more bitterly.

For the first time, Wendy felt that she was a jerk.

Gavin had been so considerate to her even before he was pushed into the operating room, but she had racked her brains to threaten him.

She regretted it.

Now, she just wanted to tell Gavin that he was the only man she loved in her life and that all she said about her type was bullshit.

She loved no other but Gavin.

The more she thought about it, the more bitterly Wendy cried.

Joanne didn't know what to do and looked at Wesley with a pleading look.

Wesley looked indifferent. "I'm just telling the truth. I didn't expect her to cry so sadly."

Joanne thought for a moment and she could only say in the heart, "Bravo, Boss Hayes, see how you made her cry."

After a long time, Wendy stopped crying. She looked at Wesley and asked, "Boss Hayes, why did you tell me this?"

Wesley said slowly, "Gavin cares about you very much. You know that, don't you?"

He thought the earlier people expressed their feelings, the better it would be.

To put it nicely, the love hidden deep in the heart could be regarded as secret love, but to put it bluntly, it was just the result of a lack of confidence.

Gavin and Wendy were already in a relationship, so the more straightforward they were to each other, the better it would be.

Wendy nodded. "I see, Boss Hayes. Thank you."

"Don't cry." Wesley rubbed Wendy's head. "If Gavin comes out and finds that you're crying, he will think that I bullied you."

Wendy's imagination went wild. "What would Gavin do if you bully me?"

Wesley said without hesitation, "He will jump out of the operating bed and protect you."

Wendy widened her eyes. "Then, please bully me!"

Wesley was speechless and thought, "Wasn't I inviting trouble?"

After this conversation, Wendy finally calmed down.

Wesley went to smoke two cigarettes and soon returned. After he waited for a while, the door of the operating room was finally opened.

Wendy rushed to Noah quickly as if she had taken a stimulant. "Dr. Sanchez, how is Gavin now?"

"The treatment went very smoothly." Noah took off his mask and said, "Now, we need to send Gavin to the intensive care unit and observe his condition. When he wakes up, we will know if the treatment works."

"The intensive care unit?" Wendy was puzzled and couldn't react in time.

"Yes, he needs intensive care now." Noah gave Wendy a reassuring look. "Don't panic. Gavin's illness didn't go worse. Everything is under control."

Wendy used to study in medical school, so she naturally knew that only critically ill patients would need to stay in the intensive care unit.

She had never thought that one day she would have to watch the person she loved the most being sent to the intensive care unit.

However, since Gavin really needed intensive care, she could only accept it.

She forced herself to calm down and followed the nurse who brought Gavin to the intensive care unit.

Joanne subconsciously wanted to follow them, but after thinking about it carefully, she gave up.

She thought she'd better leave Gavin and Wendy alone at this time.

As soon as Joanne stopped walking, her cell phone rang. It was Brian.

She picked up the phone and heard Brian's voice. "Is Gavin's treatment over?"

"Yes, it was over just now," Joanne said. "Henry and the nurses are sending him to the intensive care unit. The treatment was going well. Now we just need to wait for Gavin to wake up and check the treatment effect."

"Okay." Brian obviously breathed a sigh of relief. "I will go there after work."

"Okay," Joanne said. "Don't worry. Wesley and I will take care of him. If anything happens, we will handle it."

After hanging up the phone, Joanne and Wesley walked to the intensive care unit.

As Wendy also knew the rule that the patients' families were not allowed to stay in the intensive care unit to accompany the patients, she left the room after Gavin was settled down, but she didn't leave the hospital.

When Joanne came over, she saw Wendy standing in front of the window and looking into the ward.

She walked over and said, "Wendy, come with us to eat something first."

"Thanks, but I don't have an appetite." Wendy was unexpectedly frank. "You can go to eat first and bring me some takeaways."

Joanne understood what Wendy was feeling now, and she also knew that it was useless for her to persuade Wendy at this time. She gave Wesley a look, and the two of them left quietly.

Wendy stood still and looked into the ward.

Gavin had kept his illness from her for a long time.

He had gone through all this by himself.

After she knew all that, she had sworn that she would never leave him to face anything alone.

From now on, no matter what she had to go through, she would stay by his side even if she couldn't hold his hand.

Soon, Joanne returned with a bowl of porridge and some dishes.

"Wendy, go back to the room and have lunch," Joanne said. "With the doctor watching Gavin, he will be fine."

Wendy nodded, returned to the suite, and finished the porridge as soon she could.

In the afternoon, Brian rushed over as soon as he got off work. First, he asked Henry about Gavin's situation, and then he came to see Gavin.

Gavin had been sleeping and knew nothing about what was happening outside the ward.

Henry said that if the treatment was effective, Gavin would wake up tomorrow morning.

Otherwise, it would be hard to say if he would be fine or not.

At about eight o'clock in the evening, Aiden and Romy kept pestering Brian and Joanne, so the latter took them home. Then, Wesley came over to see Wendy.

Wendy still stood in front of Gavin's ward, looking at him through the window, like a statue.

Wesley walked to her, but she didn't notice him. He could only say, "You should go back and take a rest."

Wendy shook her head and replied, "Gavin hasn't woken up yet. I want to stay with him."

"Henry said that he would wake up at least tomorrow morning." Wesley frowned. "Are you going to stand here like this until tomorrow morning?"

Wendy pursed her lips. "Can't I?"

"Of course, you can." After a short pause, Wesley continued, "But I may knock you out in the middle of the night if you keep standing here."

Wendy trembled all over and couldn't help thinking, "Damn, Boss Hayes is so violent!

"No wonder Yuna keeps complaining about him.

"I'm so scared. Will he really knock me out?"
