A journalist kept asking, "Miss Rosalyn, are you dating Mr. Kent? If not, why would Mr. Kent set up a studio for you?"
"Well..." Rosalyn smiled awkwardly and looked at Rowdy for help.
Rowdy did not answer the journalist's question. He just said, "Rosalyn and I have something to do. Please excuse us."
The journalists, of course, were unwilling to let Rowdy and Rosalyn leave. So they followed behind and asked, "Miss Rosalyn, after coming back, will you really not act in TV shows or movies for the time being?"
Rosalyn did not answer their questions. Under Rowdy's protection, she soon disappeared from everyone's sight.
Witnessing the whole process, Joanne only had one feeling.
Something unusual must be happening!
The strangest thing was that Rowdy actually asked Rosalyn to be his female companion.
Rosalyn had a dark history. Bringing her to such an occasion would definitely make Rowdy the subject of rumor mongers which should not be what Rowdy wanted.
Could Rosalyn be Rowdy's temporary companion?
While Joanne was thinking of this, someone snorted beside her.
She was too familiar with this tone. It was the typical "Freya's disdain".
Joanne followed the sound and looked over. It was indeed Freya.
She looked at Chris and Freya in surprise and said, "You've come!"
"If I hadn't come, I would have missed a good show." Freya looked at the place where Rosalyn left with contempt. "Focusing on charity and public benefit activities and making amends for the past? My foot! Bullshit!"
Joanne was speechless.
Freya kept complaining, "Her ten layers of foundation cannot cover up her ambition to return to the entertainment circle. She dares to talk about charity and public benefit. She is so shameless!"
Joanne wanted to say something, but on second thought, she gave up. Let Freya rant on.
As expected, Freya was not done yet. She continued as if she had seen through her tricks, "In the next three months, Rosalyn will take part in charity and public benefit activities. But news about her will frequently show on social media. Then after three months, there will be news that she had been offered a role. At that time, she will tell everyone that the role was too attractive and she had looked forward to cooperating with the director for a long time. It was really hard for her to refuse such a rare opportunity, blah, blah, blah..."
Joanne couldn't help laughing out loud and gave Freya a thumbs-up.
Freya snorted and flung her hair back. "These are all tricks. Only fools will believe her," she said.
Joanne nodded in agreement.
Rosalyn was once at the peak of her life and received the most beautiful flowers and the loudest applause. Obviously, that was the life she wanted.
How could she give up flowers and applause and turn to charity work?
Nobody knew what trouble she would cause in the future.
But, Joanne was ready to welcome them.
Brian picked up his phone and walked out to call Wesley. "Rowdy is here. How long will you need?" he asked.
Wesley replied, "I'm downstairs."
"I have bad news," Brian said this so calmly that it did not sound like bad news at all, "Rowdy's female companion is not Yuna."
After a while, Wesley smiled indifferently and said, "What a coincidence. My female companion is not Yuna either."
Brian was stunned. "You brought a female companion?" he asked.
"Why not? You can bring your wife, but I'm not allowed to bring a girl?"
Wesley said this in a casual tone as if bringing a female companion to attend such an occasion was the norm for him.
Brian did not say anything more. He hung up and went back to tell Joanne that Wesley came with a female companion.
"Really?" Joanne felt a headache coming on, "it's faster than I thought."
"Your thought?" Brian raised his eyebrows and looked at Joanne, "What were you thinking of?"
Joanne coughed and said, "I just felt that after Yuna left, Wesley will look for other women who are completely different from Yuna. He wants to prove to us that it does not have to be Yuna."
"Brian, believe what Joanne said. She is always right about this kind of thing," Freya broke in.
As soon as she finished speaking, Wesley appeared in the banquet hall with a girl.
It seemed that the girl was a little older than Yuna but still younger than Wesley. She wore exquisite makeup and a fashionable dress and she seemed to have adopted the manners of a foreigner. She was completely different from Yuna.
Even Brian did not know what was the relationship between this girl and Wesley.
However, if Yuna were there, she would definitely have recognized that it was Samantha.
Samantha was the daughter of one of Wesley's elder relatives. She had been infatuated with Wesley since she was a child.
Half a year ago, when Samantha found that Wesley was dating Yuna, she went all out to exact revenge on Yuna.
At that time, Yuna's grandma was still alive and was admitted to the hospital because of Samantha, which completely irritated Yuna. Since then, Yuna regarded her as an irreconcilable enemy.
Later, Wesley intervened personally and ordered Samantha to go back to Canada and never appear in Glasgow again.
Samantha didn't show up in Glasgow anymore. However, when she heard about what happened between Wesley and Yuna, she came back to Arlington to look for Wesley.
Without Yuna, the traitor, Wesley no longer rejected her and was even willing to bring her as his companion to the charity dinner.
Therefore, Samantha was much more confident about her relationship with Wesley, which could be seen from the way she walked.
As for Yuna, Wesley would not let this undercover agent go. She didn't need to worry about this!
Wesley brought Samantha over to Brian.
Samantha knew that Wesley didn't like to talk, especially when it came to introducing people.
As a result, she waved to Joanne and Freya enthusiastically. "Hello, I'm Samantha. Maybe Brother Wesley has mentioned me to you. We grew up together," she said.
Samantha held Wesley's arm while talking, trying her best to prove how close they were.
What surprised Joanne was that Wesley was not disgusted with this at all.
Gosh, Wesley was pushing himself too hard.
A mess of thoughts flashed through Joanne's mind that for a moment, she even forgot to respond to Samantha. After a short while, she finally smiled. But when she was about to speak, Freya beat her to it.
"Oops, that's awkward, Miss Young. Brother Wesley has never mentioned you."
Chris turned to glance at Freya with a dangerous look. His eyes were asking, "What did you call Wesley?"
Freya patted Chris's arm, indicating to him to calm down.
She just didn't like Samantha so much.
Freya was so direct that Samantha felt as if she had been slapped and her face felt like it was on fire. She looked at Wesley, hoping he could help her, but only to find that Wesley was in no mood for any chitchat.
He was looking around the banquet hall as if searching for something.
Only Wesley knew that he was looking for Yuna.
Kim had clearly told him that Yuna would be attending the dinner as Rowdy's female companion, and she had gone out. Why did Rosalyn become Rowdy's female companion?
Wesley frowned and then sadly thought that his first reaction was worrying.
He was worried that something might happen to Yuna.
Brian saw through Wesley's thoughts at a glance. He gave Wesley a look, hinting to him to go to a quiet place.
Going along with the current situation, Chris followed Brian out.
Judging from Freya's attitude, she would never give up until she satirized Samantha severely today.
Therefore, it would be inappropriate for him to stay here. He might affect Freya's performance.
Watching Wesley walking further and further away, Samantha called out to him anxiously, "Brother Wesley!"
Wesley turned around and replied indifferently, "I'll be back soon." Then, he left without looking back.
Unable to get Wesley's support, Samantha could only stand up for herself. She smiled at Freya and said, "It doesn't matter. We can still get to know each other."
Freya didn't like Samantha and didn't want to show her any respect at all.
However, Samantha came with Wesley. Joanne did not want the atmosphere to be so awkward, so she tugged Freya's dress discreetly.
Freya smiled at Samantha reluctantly and said, "Hello, I'm Freya."
Joanne also gave a gentle smile, saying, "Joanne. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you, too," Samantha replied smilingly.
Samantha could feel that Freya did not welcome her.
Well, she did not like Freya either!
The brighter Samantha smiled, the more scornful she felt.
No matter in Glasgow or Canada, she was the apple of everyone's eye. Who was Freya to satirize her?
She would not have respected them if Wesley hadn't emphasized that Brian and Chris were his important friends!
Joanne noticed all of Samantha's subtle expressions.
Joanne had wanted to chat with Samantha to relieve the embarrassment.
But now it seemed that there was no need to do that.
Joanne said while maintaining a smile, "Miss Young, Freya and I have something to do. Please excuse us."
After they walked away, Freya asked, "Joanne, why did you draw me away? I thought you would take Samantha with us."
Joanne replied, "You don't like her, and she doesn't like us either. Why do we have to be together?"
Freya was surprised. "Samantha doesn't like us either?" she asked.
"Her feelings showed on her face. I couldn't ignore it even if I wanted to," Joanne glanced around the banquet hall, "Where are Brian and the others?"
"Leave them alone!" Freya held Joanne's hand, "Let's go find something to eat. I'm a little hungry."
Pulled by Freya, Joanne soon forgot about Brian.
On the other side, Brian and Wesley ran into Rowdy when they were just a little distance away.
Seeing Wesley, Rowdy was initially surprised. Soon, he snorted and said, "Wesley, you're really here."
Wesley sneered and responded, "Why, are you afraid?"
