Brian had a lot of things to deal with in his company. After going downstairs, he took the key of his car and hurried to leave while saying to his mother, "Mom, I may return late. You don't have to wait for me."
Iris knew that he always had a lot of things to do and nodded. "Don't worry, I would be here for Joanne."
At this time, Joanne's mind was full of the thought that tonight, tonight... she would have to share one bed with Brian...
Iris saw Joanne's expression abnormal and she could not help but ask her, "Joanne, did Brian often come back late recently?"
"Ah?" Joanne shook her head after hearing the words. "No, unless he is really very busy, he will go home after work at once."
"That's good. You just got married. It's bad for him to work overtime frequently. You ..."
Obviously, Iris had something to ask Joanne, but after hesitating for a while, she still didn't know how to speak it out. Joanne smiled and said, "Mom, it's ok for you to ask me whatever you want to ask."
Iris smiled and said, "Actually, I want to ask you, have you and Brian planned to have a child? You are still young, and Brian hasn't reached his elder age, so, Mom is not urging you. I just want to ask if you have plans about when to have a child?"
The reason why Iris didn't ask them the question in the past was that she wanted to give Brian and Joanne some time to consolidate their relationship, but now, seeing that they got along well with each other, she thought if they had a child and established their family, the relationship between Brian and Joanne would be more stable.
However, in fact, Joanne did not dare to think about this thing. How would Brian and she... have a child?
"Mom, about this... We want to consider it several years later." After saying this, Joanne's cheeks turned red.
"Look at yourself, you're so shy. You are married, so, you don't need to feel shy about it," Iris said with a smile, "the last time we talked about it, Brian also said that he would consider it several years later. Since you have already discussed it, I will not ask you anymore. You can decide when to have a child as your will, and nothing is more important than living a happy life."
The old all hoped to enjoy their old age with their grandchildren, and Iris was no exception. Joanne knew that, and in order to take into account Joanne's and Brian's feeling, Iris almost had no requirements for them in this respect.
When feeling moved, Joanne was even more blushed. She touched her cheeks and felt them a little hot.
Just at this time, Joanne's dress was sent to their home. Iris was more curious about the look of the dress than anyone else. She hurriedly opened it and looked at it carefully before saying with a smile, "It fits you well." She asked the assistant who sent the dress over, "This dress is tailor-made. That is to say, there is no second one like this, so, we can be sure that no one else will have the same dress as ours, right?"
The assistant recalled Rosalyn's dress at once, but, considering that the style of these two dresses were not exactly the same, she still nodded. "Yes, madam."
Iris picked up the dress and put in on Joanne before saying, "Tomorrow, you'll definitely be the most beautiful one."
After that, she handed the dress to Martha and asked her to hang it in the room.
The servants all knew that Brian and Joanne kept some secrets from Iris, and in order to help them keep the secrets, Martha temporarily hung the dresses in Brian's cloakroom.
Joanne did not think too much about it. At worst, she could go to Brian's room tomorrow to get it.
Brian indeed did not come back for dinner that night. Iris and Joanne watched TV in the living room after dinner until nine o'clock, and Brian still did not come back.
Joanne knew that Iris used to go to bed early, so, she said to her, "Mom, you go to sleep first. Don't wait for him."
"I watched him go out and can't sleep without seeing him back. When he just established his company, he was very busy all night, and I couldn't sleep the whole night..." Iris took off her presbyopia glasses helplessly. "This is why I don't want to live with him. If I don't see him busy all night, I won't feel worried. Joanne, can you call him and ask him when he will come back?"
Joanne hesitated for a second without being noticed, but she still took the phone and called Brian.
After several rings, Brian answered the phone. Joanne asked him haltingly, "When will you come home? Mom can't sleep before she sees you back."
"I've not finished my business yet, and I can't go back before midnight," Brian said, "please tell mom to go to sleep first."
"Okay. Then... go back to your work."
Joanne hung up the phone and told Iris what Brian had said.
Iris sighed. "He is so busy all day, and I'm really afraid that he'll break down someday. Sometimes, I would rather that he only runs a small company like his father. He doesn't have to make too much money."
"Mom, his company is so big now, so, he has to do something even if it's not out of his will." Joanne took Iris's hand and helped her go upstairs. "Don't worry about him. Since he can manage such a big company, he can take care of himself as well. Moreover, I'll take care of him, so, mom, you just go to sleep with ease."
Iris nodded and was gratified. "You should go to bed early as well."
Joanne closed the door for Iris, and she subconsciously wanted to go to her room. Fortunately, she responded immediately and went straight to Brian's room.
The daily necessities that Brian packed up for her in the afternoon were still in the storage basket. Joanne took them out one by one and put them in the place where they should be. The whole room suddenly looked incongruous.
Brian's room was mainly black, and some of his supplies were also in dark color. Only the walls were yet to be painted black. When Joanne put her colorful bottles and containers into the room, the solemn atmosphere was immediately broken.
Brian and she, after all, did not match each other.
After all the things were placed, Joanne took her pajamas and went to take a shower.
For fear of that Brian would misunderstand, she took a suit of conservative cotton pajamas with her, but because her hands had been injured, putting on and taking off clothes were both very difficult for her. When she put on her pajamas, she carelessly wrenched her injured hand again, which made her almost cry in pain.
She had no strength to deal with the clothes she took off, so, she just threw them into a laundry basket and went back to the room.
The spacious bedroom was simply furnished, but the two-meter-wide bed was particularly conspicuous. Joanne licked her lips and laid down on it.
The quilt and pillow were full of Brian's smell. Joanne did not know whether her idea was evil or not, and she just grabbed the pillow over and sniffed it hardly. Her heart beat faster as she did so.
She couldn't help but hug the quilt in her arms and close her eyes.
As for whether Brian would come back and something would happen between them or not, she was not as worried and filled with random thoughts as before.
It was well-known that they were couples, and in other's eyes, they loved each other very much. If nothing had happened between them... it would be abnormal.
With this thought, Joanne fell asleep comfortably.
When Brian came back, it was already early in the morning. He opened the door of his room and saw Joanne sleep on his bed. He was very surprised that she didn't kick the quilt away. She was huddled in the quilt peacefully with only her head outside the quilt. Her breath was light and she slept like an innocent child.
The visual impact of the scene on Brian was great. He walked over to her with light steps to look at her and thought that her long eyelashes were like the wings of butterflies which would fly away at any time, just like that she would leave him at any time.
He gently lifted the quilt and looked at her right hand. Sure enough, the medicine on that hand was washed away by her, and she indeed forgot to apply the medicine to her hand as he had expected.
As she was such a careless person, he couldn't imagine how she had spent her time when studying abroad.
Brian took the spray on table beside the bed and sprayed it on her injuries. Maybe because the medicine was too cold, she tried to withdraw her hand but was held by him. "Don't move," he said.
She was obedient and did not move her hand anymore, letting him apply the medicine for her.
After that, when Brian was about wrap her with the quilt, she suddenly muttered in her sleep and then kicked the quilt away.
Her slender, straight legs were exposed, and when Brian looked upper, he saw her exquisite figure.
Brian swallowed hard and pulled the quilt over to cover her at once before heading to the bathroom without looking back.
His bathroom was very big, but there used to be nothing more than the bathing equipment and a few necessities. That day, the empty place was suddenly filled with a pile of Joanne's colorful bottles and cans of different size. They gave off a fragrance similar to Joanne's and brought the dark room with vitality.
In fact, he did not like showy colors and hated to see many things piled up together. The wonderful thing was that at this moment, looking at the things belonging to Joanne, he did not feel annoying.
When he returned to the room after the shower, Joanne had kicked the quilt down to her waist. He laid down on the other side of the bed, pulled the quilt to cover her, and laid down totally. Joanne turned over and leaned near him as if she knew that he had gone to bed.
She leaned closely to him like a child who finally found a shelter from the rain, and even her breath was in peace.
Regardless of whether she really relied on him or not, watching her snuggle around him, Brian felt as if there were water flowing over his heart and softening his chest.
He turned over slightly, and it looked like that Joanne was snuggled in his arms. He then reached out his hands to hug her waist, and his arms were immediately filled with her slim body.
He felt as if half of his world was filled with her.
How could there be such a person in the world who could easily annoy him and cool him down. It was clear that she had done nothing, but, he felt that she had indeed given him a complete world in a certain moment.
Joanne nestled against Brian's chest unconsciously like a sly and soft little pet as if she knew Brian was sighing. Brian took the chance to hug her more tightly.
He knew that she was sleeping and couldn't escape from his arms, but, he still used such a great strength to hug her.
"Since you took the initiative to approach me, then don't blame me for not letting you go."
...
A few hours later, the sun rose from the east, and it was dawn.
Joanne woke up in a daze, and she forgot that she was in Brian's room and even forgot the wound on her hand. She turned over heavily and strained her sprained hand, which caused her to let out a scream of pain. She was totally woken up by the pain.
"You are so stupid," Brian lifted her quilt and said, "get up."
At first, Joanne had wanted to cry without tears, but when she heard Brian's voice, she was almost scared into tears. She hurriedly looked back at him. It was actually Brian!
"You..." She wants to ask him why he was in her room and suddenly thinks what happened yesterday, so he changed his mind. "When did you come back?"
