Joanne breathed a sigh of relief.
As long as Wesley could forgive her for slandering him, she could even deal with ten persons like Samantha if she tried her best!
When Joanne found Samantha, the latter was lying on the hospital bed, her eyes red and teary. She looked like a weak woman who had been bullied for no reason, which made people feel pity for her.
Unrequited love was probably the most painful thing in the world.
However, a girl, who threatened a man with her committing suicide by taking sleeping pills, was unworthy of pity.
Joanne sorted out her thoughts and tried to think about how to start a conversation.
When she saw Joanne, Samantha suddenly stopped wiping away her tears. She took out her cosmetic bag and asked Joanne while reapplying her makeup, "Are you here to laugh at me?"
Joanne was stunned and shook her head. "Miss Young, you think too much."
Samantha slammed the powder box and looked at Joanne critically. "Then what are you doing here?"
Joanne was speechless.
"Samantha got angry because she denied that she was here to laugh at her?
"So, did Samantha mean that she could only come here to laugh at her?"
Ah, Miss Young's way of thinking was quite strange.
Joanne suddenly realized that talking to Samantha might not require too much effort.
She said directly, "Miss Young, I want to talk to you about the affair between you and Wesley."
Samantha pursed her lips and said in a stubborn tone, "There's nothing to talk about. We had sex, so Brother Wesley must be responsible for it! He always says that he regards me as his younger sister, but who will sleep with his younger sister? I don't care. I must be with him!"
Joanne remembered very clearly that when she left Gavin's suite, Wesley said something meaningful to her.
"Ask Samantha to recall what happened that night.
"In addition, tell her on my behalf that I have no obligation toward her."
Wesley did not expressly reveal but suggested that there was a misunderstanding between Samantha and him that night.
According to Wesley, he had explained it to Samantha, but Samantha was unwilling to face the fact. She insisted that Wesley had slept with her and asked Wesley to be responsible for it.
This was clearly... a shameless act.
Samantha seemed to have made up her mind to be shameless to the end.
Joanne had a headache and could not help massaging her temples.
It was hard to talk to Samantha. She seemed to have her own channel to which others had no access, and she was also unwilling to accept others' signals.
She wanted to use this method to force Wesley to be with her.
However, how could threats be enough to resolve such a complicated issue as affection?
Even if it was possible, Wesley was not the kind of person who would give up on everything merely because of a threat. How could Samantha ignore such an obvious thing?
Joanne looked at Samantha carefully and suddenly asked, "Miss Young, how much do you like Wesley?"
"Very much!" Samantha could not describe how much she liked Wesley. She could only say stubbornly, "My life is meaningful only when I'm with Brother Wesley."
Although Joanne did not like Samantha, she was still a little stunned by Samantha's words.
No matter what kind of person Samantha was, her love for Wesley was true. Wesley was even the light and the whole significance of her life.
Joanne respected Samantha's feelings, but her feelings for someone could not become a reason to cause trouble for that person.
It was true that Samantha liked Wesley, and it was also true that she was selfish.
"I believe that you really like Wesley." Then, Joanne suddenly asked, "But have you ever thought that Wesley never regards you as a possible lover?"
Yes, Wesley never regarded Samantha as a woman, but his younger sister.
Samantha's sore point was suddenly poked, and she shouted sharply, "How dare you say that Brother Wesley has never liked me?!"
"Miss Young, your emotional response is so strong." Joanne smiled calmly and firmly. "It shows that you know it very well, but you just don't want to face it."
Samantha's face turned pale. She pointed to the door and shouted, "Stop talking! Get out! If you don't get out, I'll call the security guards! The hotel belongs to you, but the hospital can't belong to you, can it?"
"Miss Young, what a coincidence!" Joanne smiled even more brightly. "This hospital also belongs to me."
"Holy crap!" Samantha almost choked on Joanne's words.
"So, it's useless to call the police, let alone the security guards." Joanne pulled a stool and unhurriedly sat down. "Miss Young, let's continue to talk."
Samantha snorted and turned her head, unwilling to face Joanne again.
Joanne dominated the conversation, so she was not in a hurry. She provoked Samantha bit by bit, "Miss Young, do you know Wesley? Can you fit yourself into his life?"
"What a joke!" Samantha turned back and looked at Joanne disdainfully. "Our families have been friends for generations. We grew up in the same environment. Although I don't interfere in their business, I know very well what Brother Wesley's life is like!"
Joanne did not tell Samantha that knowing something well and fitting in were two different things.
She thought for a moment and said, "Since you are so confident, why don't you follow Wesley for a day and experience his daily life at close range before giving me such an answer?"
"Why not?" Samantha suddenly lifted the quilt and stood up. She looked at Joanne arrogantly. "I'm not afraid of you!"
Joanne nodded calmly. "That's a deal. When Wesley leaves, I'll ask someone to contact you. You can rest for a bit longer."
Samantha snorted, ignored Joanne, and began to reapply her makeup again.
She must look nice every time she appeared in front of Wesley!
Even if Wesley liked her appearance instead of her, she was willing to be with him.
Joanne did not say anything more. She returned to Gavin's suite and told Wesley that Samantha was going to follow him for a day.
Wesley frowned. He was a little surprised and greatly displeased. "You asked Samantha to follow me for a day?"
Joanne knew that Wesley could not accept it, but there was a reason for her to choose this method.
She coughed and tried to persuade Wesley. "If Samantha follows you for a day, she won't probably pester you anymore. Think about it carefully. It's a bargain."
Wesley did not know what Joanne was planning, but he remembered their deal clearly.
He looked at Joanne dangerously. "If Samantha still pesters me this time tomorrow, I won't forgive your slandering me so easily."
Joanne felt a chill run down her spine and nodded blankly. "Okay."
Wesley stopped wasting time on Samantha's matter. He said to Wendy, "You go out with Joanne. I have something to discuss with Gavin."
Usually, Wendy could tease Wesley, but once Wesley became serious, she would be afraid of him.
Wendy nodded obediently and said, "Gavin is still recovering. He's not in high spirits. Try to make it short and let him have a rest after you finish speaking."
Wesley narrowed his eyes slightly and looked at Wendy and replied in a milder tone of voice, "I see."
Wendy smiled at Wesley and pulled Joanne out.
There was a fruit plate in the living room, on which there were several kinds of fresh fruits of the season. Wendy picked a banana and asked curiously, "Cousin, why did you ask Samantha to follow Boss Hayes for a day?"
Joanne took an apple and peeled it. "Because Wesley doesn't like Samantha."
"I know, but I still don't understand." Wendy took a bite of the banana. "I thought you would reason with Samantha and persuade her to give up Boss Hayes."
Joanne smiled and said, "It's not useless. Samantha must know those things before I tell her."
Wendy touched her nose in confusion. "Then... will it work if you let Samantha follow Boss Hayes?"
Joanne pondered for a moment and pretended to be mysterious. "Whether it works or not, we'll only know tomorrow."
She was not 100% sure that her method would work.
She was sure that if this method could not wake Samantha up, then... Wesley would be really in big trouble.
Wendy took another bite of the banana and suddenly thought of something. She raised her hand and said, "Cousin, I still have one more question."
Joanne had just finished peeling off the apple and said, "Go ahead."
"My cousin-in-law also chased after my cousin for ten years. Since you never persuaded her to give up at that time, why did you persuade Samantha to give up now?"
"That's not the case today," Joanne put down the fruit knife and said, "When Freya was pursuing my brother, he didn't have a constant girlfriend. Moreover, it was possible for Freya and my brother to be together. However, it's impossible for Samantha and Wesley to be together, for Wesley cannot forget Yuna in a short time."
Wendy tilted her head and pretended to ask innocently, "Cousin, is that all?"
Joanne cut the apple and gave half of it to Wendy. Then she continued, "There is another reason that can't be ignored. I liked Freya very much at that time."
But Samantha was really annoying.
Wendy took a bite of the apple and said, "I know why Samantha will fail!" She glanced at Joanne and continued, "She doesn't have your help!"
Joanne could not help laughing. Soon, Wesley came out of the ward.
Wendy stood up and looked at Wesley expectantly. "Boss Hayes, are you leaving?"
Wesley replied with a "hmm" and stepped out.
Joanne called Samantha's ward, and said that Wesley was ready to leave and asked Samantha to go to the parking lot.
No one could predict what would happen after Samantha's departure.
Wendy took a look at Joanne and said expectantly, "May God bless you, Cousin. I hope that Samantha will be clear-headed after this."
Joanne cooperatively crossed herself. "Amen."
When Joanne recalled the events that happened today later, she really felt that she was worthy of being termed as a good helper!
