While talking, Joanne held her seriously aching right hand with her left hand and a calm expression.
Brian saw through her and ignored her question. He took her hand and looked at it. The swelling on her hand did not subside at all, and it seemed that her whole hand would be swollen.
At this time, Joanne also noticed that the sprained part of her hand turned into yellow again.
"Eh?"
She washed the medicine off her hands on purpose yesterday when taking the shower for fear that she would dirty Brian's quilt with the medicine, therefore, she did not apply the medicine to her hand either when she went to bed. How did she get some potion on her hand again?
She looked at Brian unbelievably. "Did you apply the medicine for me?"
Brian answered coldly, "Or else?"
"..." Joanne imagined how Brian crouched at the bedside to apply the medicine for her, and she even imagined how beautiful Brian's face was when the warm lights fell on his side face.
However, she didn't wake up at that time.
Because of her job, no matter how sound she slept, she would wake up as soon as the phone rang or something made a loud noise, unless... she trusted the people with her, like Chris and Freya.
As for Brian... when did she start to trust him so much? He had behaved like a hoodlum in front of her countless times...
"Get up," Brian said in a commanding tone as he usually did, "I'll take you to the hospital again after breakfast."
Joanne pressed the swelling on her hand and said, "No. The swelling will subside if I apply more medicine to it."
Brian squinted his long and narrow eyes, and the air was immediately filled with a dangerous atmosphere. Joanne continued unconvincingly, "What? My profession is somewhat related to doctors. I can tell that it's not serious..."
She didn't like hospital. Brian compromised when he remembered this. "Let's talk about what happened the day before yesterday."
Joanne was confused for a moment and couldn't help but look at Brian carefully. It was not until then did she find that he was already dressed neatly and that his laptop was placed sideways on the tea table next to the sofa with a few opened documents near it.
Not only did he wake up early, but he also began to work early. However, ... the things were in a mess. Was it because of her scream that he got up to see her in a hurry?
At the thought of this, Joanne forgave him a little inexplicably, but she still looked away while saying, "What are you going to talk about? About why your temper could be so baffling? Brian, I'd like to remind you of one thing-the divorce agreement was put up by you when we were married. I have tried my best to cooperate with you and promised not to mess with you to ensure that we can have an amicable divorce. What else do you want from me?"
Brian looked at Joanne for a while and signed. "Joanne, I'm sorry."
It was his fault- that Joanne was looking forward to divorcing him was just his thought. Maybe she was just curious about the reason why he didn't want to divorce anymore at that time.
President Lambert had rarely said sorry to others for a long time. Joanne thought it over and felt that she had earned it, so, she turned back and said, "Mr. Lambert, are you apologizing to me?"
Brian knew that Joanne would not miss this opportunity and answered, "Yes."
"I didn't hear you clearly." She tilted her head to one side and smiled. "Can you say it again slowly so that I can hear you clearly?"
Brian ground his teeth and said, "I'm saying that I'm sorry."
The last syllable of his words had carried a dangerous flame, and Joanne knew that she should not go too far, otherwise the flame would burn into the fire.
Therefore, she could only him, "Why did you ignore me yesterday morning?"
Brian made a frown. "You didn't go downstairs before I went to the company. Did you give me any chance to ignore you?"
"You ignored me when you passed by my room!"
"I was in a hurry to go to the company and thought that you would follow me down." Brian pressed his temple agonizingly. "Later, you went back to your room. You never got up so early. Who knew if you were going back to sleep again?"
"..."
Joanne was speechless.
It turned out that the reason that had caused her to be upset yesterday was just her imagination, and she had been so stupid that she did not go downstairs for breakfast even she was starving...
If she had gone downstairs, they would have made it clear the day before yesterday, and she would not have been hurt.
Brian faintly guessed out that Joanne had thought too much, and he took off the medicine patch from her forehead while saying, "If you have some questions, come and ask me. Don't hide in your room and make blind conjectures."
Joanne curled her lips. "Don't just talk about me. You didn't tell me why you were angry the day before yesterday, did you?"
Brian paused and affixed a new piece of medicine patch to her forehead. "Joanne, don't mention divorce anymore."
Joanne blinked with a little confusion, but in the end, she just said, "Oh, I got it."
It was very simple for her not to mention it as long as Brian did not mention it.
As for why Brian did not want to hear about her mentioning divorce, there was a moment when she really wanted to ask him, but... Forgot it, they were fine now. If the answer was not what she wanted to hear, she would be upset for a long time.
Brian pressed the corner of the patch for her and said, "All right."
Joanne thought that Brian was talking that this thing was over. She stared at him seriously and asked, "All right? Not at all!"
Brian rarely saw her fierce appearance and did not want to remind her that she misunderstood what he meant. He raised his lips and asked, "What do you still want?"
Joanne pointed at the door egoistically. "Go to stand there and don't move. Look at me."
Brian did what he had been told. However, he only saw Joanne slip out of the bed and pass by him with a cocky look and ignore him.
After she got out of the room, Joanne closed her eyes to feel the feeling of stepping on Brian's head-it couldn't be better!
However, before she had enough of this feeling, Brian's idle voice came from her back. "Are you sure you're going to go downstairs in this dress?"
Joanne looked down. Uh, she still wore her childish cotton pajamas.
She turned back quickly and said, "Who told you that I was going downstairs?"
When she passed through the door again, her hand was suddenly held by Brian. She looked up at him belatedly with confusion, and the next second, she fell into his arms.
They were close to each other's body, and the heat of his body was ironing her through his clothes.
"You..." Now, not just her limbs, Joanne's voice was also a little stiff, and she slightly struggled. "Let go of me. I'm going to change my clothes."
Brian held around her waist forwardly. "Do you remember what I just said?"
Joanne nodded vigorously. "I will never mention divorce any more... Hmm..."
Before she could finish her words, Brian kissed her lips, and she could only hold back what she was about to say.
She was still confused, and Brian kissed her lips wholly.
There seemed to be weak electricity to the lingering kiss, and Joanne felt as if the electricity was wriggling through her body. She didn't know when she had forgotten to struggle and slowly nestled into Brian's arms.
It was so terrible for her to have a day in a cold war that she missed his kiss so much.
Brian's kiss was both gentle and fierce. He hugged her in his arms more and more tightly as if he wanted her to be embedded in his body. Before long, Joanne felt that she could not breathe with her cheeks turning redder and redder, and the feeling made her incapable of feeling Brian's kiss, so, she tried to push him away out of her instinct.
Brian deeply kissed her several times more before leaving her lips. He was filled with tenderness when he saw her eyes full of grievance and confusion.
He fondled her lips with his long fingers, the joints of which was clear. He said in a sexy and threatening tone, "If you dare to mention divorce to me again, I will not just kiss you like this. Do you understand?"
Joanne's brain was oxygen-starved, and she was in a trance, but she still certainly nodded. "Yes."
Brian finally showed a satisfied smile and released her.
Joanne took a deep breath and rushed into the bathroom. She held on to the washstand and panted.
She looked at herself in the mirror. Her cheeks were blushing, and her lips were reddened and swollen with blood, but her eyes were full of sparkling splendor.
She had to brush her teeth to calm down!
This time, she felt the pain of being unable to move her right hand. She could manage to brush her teeth with her left hand, but, when she tried to change her clothes with her left hand, she was really slow and had to be careful not to wrench her sprained hand again.
After a while, there was a knock on the door. She knew that it had to be Brian urging her to come out.
She said painfully. "Please wait for another five minutes!"
In fact, when she came out and saw Brian sit on the sofa in the room reading some files, another ten minutes had passed.
From her view, his side face was clean and handsome, and the outline of his face was clear and chiseled. Exposed in the morning light, he looked so breath-taking and charming.
She could not help but swallow hard.
At this time, Brian put the files down and looked at her. "It's time to go downstairs."
Joanne unnaturally turned her fascinated gaze away and answered before following him out of the room.
They did not expect to meet Iris head-on.
Obviously, Iris just woke up. She looked at Brian and then at Joanne and smiled. Joanne felt as if she was a child who was caught doing something bad. She secretly moved to Brian's side.
Brian grabbed her hand and pulled her out. Joanne raised her lips forcefully and said, "Good morning, mom."
"Good morning." Iris smiled. "Do you feel better about your hand?"
"It's still swelling yet. I'll try to compress it later."
Iris said, "If it doesn't work, call a doctor here to help you. Let's go downstairs, Simon said that breakfast was ready."
Because of Iris's preference, their breakfast was Chinese food. Joanne sat down and wanted to pour herself a glass of water before she remembered that her hand was injured. Just as she wanted to use her left hand, Brian filled her cup.
She smiled. "Thanks."
Iris observed their natural behaviors and was gratified.
Brian received the files which Simon gave him after breakfast and went to his company. There were only Iris and Joanne at home.
After applying the medical ice bag to her hand, Joanne sprayed a thick layer of medicine on her wound and continued to apply it. Then she had nothing to do, so, she casually fetched her iPad to surf the Internet. Originally, she did not want to watch the news, but, a social headline attracted her attention successfully and aroused numerous doubts at the bottom of her heart.
To prove her conjecture, she opened up the news...
