Chapter 983 Is Brother Wesley's Kidney Fine?

Samantha thought for a long time but still couldn't understand.

Yuna was not like Joanne, the gentle, beautiful, generous, and elegant woman who ran her home well and was able to solve uncanny homicide cases.

Yuna was unlike Freya, either. Freya was not only beautiful and charming but was also supported by a strong family. She had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances that were beyond people's imagination.

In comparison, Yuna was just an infamous spy who was trained by Rowdy.

Even if Wesley didn't care about these disparities, at least he should not ignore the fact that Yuna approached him with a purpose.

In Wesley's usual way, he would, after finding out Yuna's identity as a spy, make her live a life worse than death even if he didn't kill her. He would make her regret having deceived and betraying him.

But in fact, Wesley ignored everything Yuna had done and only cared about her.

"Why was Yuna so attractive to him?"

In a fit of pique, Samantha turned her back on Wesley and said reluctantly, "There's nothing wrong with Yuna. She's very arrogant! Oh, she said she was not afraid of me because I was no match for her! Now are you satisfied?"

Wesley warned in a cold voice, "Samantha, I want to hear the truth."

"Believe it or not, I am telling the truth!" Samantha turned around and looked at Wesley angrily, "Why did you take the knife for her? She's your enemy and even lied to you. My killing her would have been considered a good deed for you!"

"Samantha!" Wesley glared at Samantha with a dark and gloomy face, "Have you thought about the consequences?"

Killing someone was nothing out of the extraordinary in Wesley's world.

However, in this dark world that others could not see, people got what they wanted at the expense of others' blood and lives.

Samantha had grown up in a special environment, but she was just an ordinary person who lived in the sun. But she considered herself different from others because of the environment she was brought up in.

Wesley thought that it was time to make her face reality.

Samantha was rarely questioned. In the face of Wesley's question, she just answered in a willful way without thinking, "I'm Samantha. I don't need to think about the consequences! My father would deal with any trouble I cause. You are the only person that my father can't do anything with!"

Wesley's face darkened. He looked at Samantha coldly and said, "I hope you will listen to my words carefully."

Samantha snorted and said, "If you try to persuade me to give you up, then stop it..."

"Uncle Young is sick. He has early stage liver cancer," Wesley interrupted Samantha and told her calmly, "I have settled him in a good hospital and found him a good doctor. As long as he cooperates with the doctor for his treatment, he may be cured. That's why I allowed you to return home."

Samantha's eyes widened and she looked at Wesley in disbelief. "You're lying! I call my father every day, he's just fine! She shouted.

"He doesn't want you to worry about him," Wesley didn't care whether Samantha could accept the fact or not and revealed the truth directly, "I've talked to Uncle Young. Since you're incapable of inheriting his businesses and resources, I will take over them and give him a corresponding compensation. Samantha, your father is a patient now. He cannot shelter you from the wind and storm anymore."

Samantha did not want to believe Wesley. She kept shaking her head and begging Wesley to tell her it was all false and Wesley was just lying to her.

However, Wesley didn't correct himself.

Wesley's impassive and firm look told her that he was indeed telling the truth.

At this moment, Samantha suddenly understood some situations that she did not fathom before.

When she almost killed Yuna's grandmother, Wesley, in a fit of temper, ordered her to go to Canada and never return to Glasgow.

Wesley didn't change his mind even though her father interceded for her.

As Wesley considered her father as his elder, the Hayes Family and the Young family did not have a falling-out.

However, the Young family had to rely on Wesley to run its business.

Therefore, Samantha had no choice but to leave Glasgow at Wesley's command.

Her father said that when Wesley cooled down, he would ask Wesley to let her come home.

A few days ago, her father suddenly called her back.

She asked excitedly if it was because Wesley was not mad at her anymore.

Her father hesitated for a while and told her what had happened between Yuna and Wesley. At last, he reminded her euphemistically that she may have a chance to date Wesley. But he couldn't help her anymore. She had to do it by herself.

The words "may have a chance" gave Samantha a lot of motivation. She immediately packed her luggage and booked the next flight home.

Instead of returning to Glasgow, she went straight to Arlington to find Wesley.

During those days spent with Wesley, she could feel that although Wesley still didn't like her, he was more patient with her. She thought this might be the "chance".

But now it seemed that Wesley treated her with patience out of pity.

Her father was sick and asked Wesley to take care of her. That's why Wesley allowed her to come back.

Wesley had mentioned what had happened after the charity dinner. She vaguely remembered that the man who spent the night with her was probably not Wesley, but she had mistaken him for Wesley.

She willfully asked Wesley to take responsibility for her. But Wesley just euphemistically reminded her to figure out what had happened that night.

At her father's request, Wesley had never mentioned her father's illness.

But today, she tried to hurt Yuna with a knife, which was the last straw that broke Mu Siju's back. At the end of his tether, Wesley told her the cruel truth.

Her father had transferred everything to Wesley. He was no longer the elder Mr. Young that everyone was afraid of. Then, who else could she rely on in the future?

At this time, the car slowly stopped and the driver reminded Wesley, "Brother Wesley, we're at the hospital."

Wesley looked at Samantha impassively and said, "Go and have a check-up. If everything is fine, you can leave the hospital and go anywhere you want. Samantha, I don't want you to waste your time on me."

Samantha knew Wesley was driving her away.

She looked at Wesley with tears in her eyes and asked, "What about your injury?"

Wesley responded coldly, "Don't worry. I'll handle it."

After he said this, Wesley opened the door and alighted without even looking back at Samantha.

For the first time, Samantha felt that there was a huge distance between herself and Wesley.

Although she addressed him as Brother Wesley, yet she had never got close to his heart.

In this world, Yuna was the only one who had really gotten close to Wesley and won his love.

However, what she cherished a lot was abandoned by Yuna.

Wesley went to the surgery department to get his wound dressed.

The doctor tutted and shook his head, saying, "If the assailant did this on purpose, he was really vicious. If it had been merely an inch more, you'll be..."

Wesley glared daggers at the doctor. The doctor immediately stopped talking. He sutured Wesley's wound silently and carefully.

Iris had to undergo some examinations today. If everything was fine, she could be discharged.

Therefore, Joanne came early with some food. After having breakfast with Iris, she brought her to have her tests done.

After finishing up the various tests, the attending doctor said with relief, "Mrs. Lambert, the old lady can be discharged from the hospital."

"Really? That's great!" Joanne smiled happily and said, "Thank you for all your care, doctor."

Iris no longer needed the wheelchair. A walking stick was enough for her. Joanne helped her back to the ward while discussing the discharge procedure with her on the way.

As soon as they arrived at the ward, a bodyguard stopped Joanne and told her hesitantly, "Mrs. Lambert, Brother Wesley... was injured."

Joanne was stunned. She settled Iris back to the bed and rushed to the surgery department with Wendy.

Wesley had just got his wound dressed and the doctor was cutting the thread.

As a doctor, Wendy could tell at a glance that the wound was not deep. She turned to give Joanne a reassuring look and said, "Don't worry, it's not serious." However, when she noticed the position of the wound, her expression became complicated.

Joanne asked curiously, "What's wrong?"

Wendy didn't answer Joanne's question. Instead, she bit her finger and asked the doctor, "Uh, have you taken an X-ray? Is my Brother Wesley's kidney okay?"

The young doctor knew Wendy. He couldn't help smiling and showed her the X-ray and answered, "Don't worry, his kidney is fine."

Wendy breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good," she said.

Wesley looked at Wendy grimly and said, "Shut up."

"Boss Hayes, can you not be so mean?" Wendy pointed to Wesley's wound and said, "I'm worried about your well-being for the rest of your life!"

The doctor cleaned the wound and warned Wesley, "Mr. Mu, although your wound is not deep, it is not superficial either. You need to change the dressing in the next few days. Don't let your wound come into contact with water or cause the wound to reopen. It will be very troublesome if it bleeds again."

Wendy burst into laughter. Wesley shot her a sharp look. She quickly stopped talking and said, "Thank you, doctor. Let me walk you out."

It was only after Wendy went out that Joanne asked, "Wesley, how did you get hurt? Where's Samantha?"

Wesley didn't speak.

Joanne suddenly had a bad feeling and ventured to ask, "Wesley, were you hurt by Samantha?"

Wesley neither admitted it nor denied it.

After a while, he said slowly, "Joanne, go find Samantha and confirm something for me."

Joanne also wanted to know what had happened. So she nodded and said, "Sure. What's it?"

Wesley told Joanne the whole incident about Yuna not avoiding Samantha's attack. Then he continued, "I think there might be something wrong with Yuna. But Samantha was the only person who knew the situation best. So I want you to find her and figure out what happened at that time."
