Joanne agreed without hesitation. "Okay, no problem! I will definitely help you get to the bottom of it!"
She looked as if she had received an important task from her superior.
After giving birth to two children, Joanne was much more mature. Wesley had not seen her in such an animated state for a long time.
Wesley wondered, "Are you... all right?"
Joanne smiled and shook her head, "I'm fine."
"Then why are you so excited?" Wesley looked at Joanne quizzically. It was hard to tell whether he was really confused or just teasing her, "I thought you would only feel excited when you see Brian."
"Well, don't think too much about it," Joanne said seriously, "I just feel it's my honor to contribute a little to your future happiness."
After all, not everyone in the world had the chance to play a part in Wesley's life!
Wesley finally realized that Joanne and Wendy really had the ability to make others speechless if they wanted to tease someone.
So he chose the easy way out; he fled from the room.
"I'm going to visit Aunt Iris."
Then Wesley left the treatment room. Looking after him, it was hard to tell that he was injured.
Joanne wanted to tell Wendy that it was completely unnecessary to worry about Wesley's kidney.
He seemed not to be affected at all.
Joanne followed him out of the treatment room and went to the reception desk. The nurse there told her that Samantha had just finished her examination and was resting in the ward.
So she went to Samantha's ward and knocked on the door.
After a long time, Samantha responded, "Come in."
It was quite evident she had cried although she tried her best to cover it up.
Joanne pushed the door open and walked in. Seeing it was her, Samantha was suddenly in no mood to reapply her makeup. She looked at her unhappily and said, "Joanne, you can have a good laugh at me this time!"
"Miss Young, you think too much," Joanne sat down and said helplessly, "in fact, I've never thought about laughing at you."
Samantha snorted and said with disdain, "Stop your sweet-talking!"
Joanne thought that since Samantha thought she was sweet-talking, then she should really tell her some home truths.
She smiled gently but every word she said was as sharp as a knife, "In fact, when a person is laughed at by others, usually it's because he or she had acted like a clown."
Samantha's eyes glazed over for a moment before she realized what Joanne meant. Her eyes widened and she glared at Joanne and shouted, "What do you mean? Get to the point. Don't beat around the bush!"
Joanne had a headache-it was really hard to communicate with Samantha. It could not have been easy for Wesley to bear with her for a day!
She tried her best to explain so that Samantha could understand, "Do you know how you made yourself look like a fool? Let me tell you. It was when you created such a scene in the hotel the day before yesterday. Think about it. If you didn't cause trouble in the lobby, why would Wesley take you away from that hotel?"
Samantha was speechless, but she was not willing to admit that Joanne was right. Therefore, she turned her head away and did not look at Joanne.
Joanne didn't care about Samantha's feelings and continued, "Miss Young, I came to you just for Yuna and Wesley."
"It's Yuna again! Can you stop mentioning that woman?" Samantha jumped up from the bed and yelled at the top of her voice, "Wesley took the knife for that woman, and you came here for that woman. Why do you care so much about that wretched spy?"
Anger, grievance as well as guilt appeared on Samantha's beautiful face.
Joanne keenly noticed that Samantha subconsciously lowered her voice when she said Wesley had taken the knife for Yuna.
She guessed right. The wound on Wesley's back was caused by Samantha.
And the point was that she was actually targetting Yuna but accidentally stabbed Wesley.
Joanne thought she could change the topic.
She tried to guide Samantha, "Miss Young, are you still not going to give up Wesley?"
"Why should I give up?!" Samantha's delicate face was full of unwillingness, "Yuna is an undercover agent and Brother Wesley's enemy. She can't be with him! I'm the most suitable person for him!"
"Miss Young, Wesley loves Yuna." This sentence was like a heavy bombshell for Samantha. After a pause, Joanne continued, "Let me tell you more. Wesley has proposed to Yuna. If Yuna didn't abort her child, Wesley would have married Yuna."
Samantha seemed to be struck by something. She shook her head and refused to face the facts. "No... it's impossible..."
"You think it's impossible for them to be together. But Wesley has broken many rules for Yuna and it's even okay to hurt himself to save her," Joanne thought of a popular saying on the Internet and felt it was necessary to tell Samantha, "Miss Young, the biggest mistake in a person's life is not stubbornness or selfishness, but to love someone who doesn't love you. Even if you persist, you will be hurt in the end."
Samantha's eyes gradually filled with despair, and she began to plead, "Stop... please..."
Joanne knew that Samantha was about to break down, but she continued, "You've always emphasized that Yuna was an undercover agent. But have you ever thought deeply about it? In this world, Wesley is the person who knows best that Yuna is an undercover agent. Even so, he's still willing to stand up for her. He really loves her, no matter if you want to face this fact or not."
Samantha covered her ears with all her strength. She screamed and squatted down, wailing.
She didn't want to give in... just didn't...
She could rival Yuna in every aspect. Why did she still lose out to Yuna?
Hearing Samantha's desperate crying and although she sympathized with her, Joanne couldn't help saying, "Miss Young, maybe you think Yuna is not good enough for Wesley. But as long as Wesley doesn't think so, others are not qualified to comment on their relationship. And you can't imagine what Yuna has done for Wesley."
"Yuna has done something for Brother Wesley?" Samantha sneered, "Joanne, are you kidding me?"
Joanne couldn't explain too much to Samantha.
If Yuna really hid some secrets as they expected, the first thing they should do after finding out the truth was to protect Yuna.
If Samantha knew too much, it would not do Yuna any good.
Joanne took out two tissues and handed them to Samantha, saying, "Miss Young, just do Wesley a favor. Please tell me why Yuna didn't resist when you stabbed her with your knife?"
Samantha glared at Joanne and did not speak for a long time. However, she was a little hesitant.
Joanne noticed Samantha's hesitation. She was almost sure that Yuna did not think that Samantha was no match for her, but that something beyond her control had happened when Samantha stabbed her.
She tried to persuade Samantha, "Miss Young, this is very important to Wesley. I hope you can tell me the truth."
Samantha's attitude changed a little. "Why is it so important?" she asked.
"I can't tell you now," Joanne said mysteriously, "unless you tell me the truth."
Samantha's curiosity about Wesley finally overwhelmed her jealousy of Yuna.
She said unwillingly, "I don't know why but Yuna's face suddenly became very pale and she couldn't fight back at all. I think she was... sick."
Joanne's heart jolted. She questioned, "Can you tell me more details? What's wrong with Yuna?"
Samantha pointed at her head and said, "She seemed to have a headache."
"Ooh, I see. Thank you."
After saying that, Joanne turned around to leave Samantha's ward.
She had to tell Wesley that Yuna was sick, as soon as possible.
If she remembered correctly, Wesley had mentioned before that Yuna seemed to be uncomfortable. But later, Yuna explained that it was because she was pregnant, which reassured Wesley. He had been so happy that he gradually forgot about Yuna's discomfort.
Now it seemed that Yuna was not simply pregnant.
"Hey, wait!" Samantha stopped Joanne, "You haven't told me why Yuna's condition is so important to Brother Wesley!"
Joanne smiled and said distinctly, "It's about his marriage."
Samantha was stunned. When she realized what it meant, Joanne had already left.
She screamed crazily. Half a minute later, she suddenly calmed down and burst into tears.
She liked Wesley so much, but everyone, including Wesley, liked Yuna!
Whats good about Yuna? She was Wesley's enemy. What could she do for him?
In a fit of anger, Samantha smashed everything in the ward and then called Wesley, only to find that she couldn't get through to his number nor could she send him any messages.
Wesley had advised her not to waste time on him. In fact, he wanted to tell her not to pester him anymore.
Wesley was indeed heartless enough. He didn't give her any chance.
In the past, she would not have given up just like this.
However, her father was sick now, so she couldn't spend all her time on Wesley.
Samantha borrowed a phone from a nurse and texted Wesley-"Brother Wesley, I'll be going back to Glasgow."
When Wesley received this message, he was on his way to Gavin's ward from Iris's ward.
He glanced at it and deleted it without replying. Then he pushed the door open and walked into Gavin's ward.
Joanne came in right after Wesley. She was out of breath as she had run over in a hurry.
Wesley suddenly had a bad feeling. He frowned and asked, "What did Samantha tell you?"
Joanne gasped and said, "Samantha said that Yuna didn't resist at that time because she was not able to."
Wesley's eyes turned cold. "Why?" He asked.
Joanne responded slowly, "Samantha guessed that Yuna was sick." After a pause, she pointed at her head and said, "Wesley, can you recall whether Yuna had a headache before?"
