Chapter 989 The Child Was Still Alive (1)

"Blood clots... in her brain..."

Wesley's dark pupils contracted rapidly. For a moment, he felt that he couldn't understand Dr. Roberts's words.

"Yuna looked healthy. Why were there blood clots in her brain?"

"No, that can't be right-"

In fact, Yuna had not been well since she came back last time.

She would suddenly faint and sometimes, her face would inexplicably turn chalk-white. Today, she couldn't even fight with Samantha who had no strength to even truss up a chicken.

Samantha said that Yuna seemed to have a headache.

The two blood clots in Yuna's brain could explain all her abnormalities.

Now the problem was how did Yuna get the brain clots?

Wesley wanted to ask Dr. Roberts. But he felt something creeping into his heart wall which corroded it, bit by bit.

He covered his chest for a long time. Finally, he realized that the thing he felt was his guilt.

He trusted Yuna but did not have enough faith in her.

If he had been more observant, he would have found out about Yuna's abnormality-on that night in the villa, when Yuna told him about her pregnancy, she suddenly burst into tears. But he only thought she was being emotional like other pregnant women.

Yuna had worked for Rowdy for such a long time and must have been trained to control her emotions. How could she be affected by pregnancy?

He should have noticed that something was wrong with Yuna at that time.

But he hadn't.

Wesley clenched his fists. The blue veins on the back of his hands stood out and his nails were almost embedded deep into his palms.

If he could turn the clock back, he would definitely not let Yuna leave no matter what she gave up at the top of the mountain.

However, there was no such magic in the world that could let a person go back to the past.

He could only do his best to save the situation.

Joanne was also shocked.

When they were at the top of the mountain, Joanne saw Yuna being in a trance several times. Yuna looked into the distance blankly like a person standing at an intersection, unable to see her future.

It was actually due to the blood clots in her brain.

Joanne always said that she cared about Yuna, but she never knew how much Yuna had taken on alone.

Joanne looked at Wesley with mixed feelings and saw the regret in Wesley's eyes at a glance.

She was not surprised.

If she had been the one who faced such a situation, she would have felt more than guilt...

"Wesley, are you okay?" Joanne said in a low voice, afraid that she would be rubbing salt on Wesley's wound.

Wesley's pupils slowly returned to normal and his hands gradually unclenched. He said in an unusually calm voice, "I'm fine."

Joanne wanted to believe Wesley.

However, she knew better than anyone else that the more Wesley said he was fine, it meant the situation was even more serious.

Fortunately, Wesley didn't need much time to fully accept the fact. He was calm and strong enough. He could digest the bad news as soon as possible and try to find the best solution.

Joanne wanted to let Dr. Roberts continue, but Wesley motioned for her to stop. So she stopped talking cooperatively.

It seemed that Wesley wanted to deal with the matter by himself.

Well, after all, it was between Yuna and him.

Wesley pointed to the sofa next to him and asked Dr. Roberts to sit down.

Wesley's high-handedness would make others feel oppressed. Compared with her fear for Rowdy, Dr. Roberts was only in awe of Wesley.

It was strange that she vaguely felt Wesley, unlike Rowdy, would not hurt her.

Dr. Roberts sat down with relief and asked, "Mr. Mu, what else do you want to know?"

Wesley suppressed his feelings of guilt and remorse and asked, "How did the blood clots grow in Yuna's brain?"

"Well, Miss Wallace didn't tell me the details," Dr. Roberts said, "All I know is that she had a car accident about a year ago. The blood clots are the sequela of the car accident."

"A car accident?"

Wesley was shocked as if he had been struck by lightning.

At that time a year ago, Yuna was still working undercover for him.

In Arlington, Yuna was hit by a car and fell down a hill in order to save him. She hit her head hard and blood spurted from her head at that time.

He took Yuna to a private hospital as soon as possible to get the best treatment. The doctor told him that Yuna's life was not in danger, but she had serious fractures and skin trauma.

The doctor didn't mention any sequela.

Later, when they returned to Glasgow, Yuna recovered rapidly and was full of energy again. Seeing her back to her normal self, he didn't keep her injury in mind.

However, two blood clots started to form in Yuna's brain after the car accident.

Wesley gritted his teeth and asked in both anger and confusion, "Why did you not arrange a surgery for her?"

Dr. Roberts hesitated for a moment and replied slowly, "Because of the baby she's carrying."

"Baby" was a very sensitive word for Wesley.

Wesley narrowed his eyes and asked, "What does the baby have to do with Yuna's blood clots?"

"It's complicated," Dr. Roberts sighed and then told Wesley, "The blood clots are in an unusual position, so the success rate of this operation is very low. And the worst thing is that Miss Wallace might die during the operation. Even if she survives, she may become a vegetable after the operation."

Wesley had expected that the blood clots in Yuna's brain would be hard to treat.

But he had never thought that Yuna was in such a bad situation that her chance to be cured was desperately slim.

This time, what corroded Wesley's heart was no longer guilt, but pain.

Somehow, he felt a fiery hand gripping his heart and crushing it into pieces.

He finally experienced what it felt to be prostrate with grief.

The first time Yuna back to Rowdy after her grandma died, she should have known about her condition.

However, she had kept it a secret from Wesley totally and revealed nothing to him.

"Did she have so little trust in him?"

Anyway, he would find the best doctor for Yuna and forcibly keep her alive.

Seeing Wesley was still calm, Dr. Roberts continued, "The blood clots in Miss Wallace's brain already put her in great danger. But the pregnancy affected the stability of the clots. We've advised Miss Wallace to give up the child and accept the treatment. She should save herself. However, she refused. She wanted to protect her child."

"Protect her child?" Wesley's dark eyes turned cold, "The child is gone. Who was she protecting?"

He had seen Yuna holding an empty Mifepristone bottle and the doctor also told him that the child had no signs of life.

He once thought that in order to go back to Rowdy, Yuna could even hurt an unborn child.

But now, Dr. Roberts told him that Yuna gave up the chance to treat herself in order to protect her child?

What else did he not know?

Dr. Roberts was more surprised than Wesley. She looked at Wesley in confusion and said, "Miss Wallace's baby is fine. Mr. Mu, why do you think the baby is gone?"

"The baby was fine?"

Wesley's eyes darkened. He grabbed Dr. Roberts's collar and questioned, "Yuna took Mifepristone. A doctor told me the baby was gone. When did you find out that her baby was still alive?"

Dr. Roberts panicked for a second and soon realized what was going on. She said, "Mr. Mu, it's all a misunderstanding. Miss Wallace's child is really fine."

Wesley had a child but soon lost him. Now, Dr. Roberts told him that his child came back.

Like a wild beast that was fully irritated, he roared in a low voice, "What misunderstanding?"

Dr. Roberts hurriedly explained, "The blood clots would cause her pregnancy test results to be uncertain."

The results of the pregnancy test would be uncertain.

Those words were like a bomb that suddenly exploded in the center of Wesley's world, almost blasting him into pieces.

Wesley watched his world collapse but could only stand aside stiffly.

Dr. Roberts thought Wesley didn't understand what she said, so she added, "Because of the blood clots, the results would always differ when Miss Wallace took the tests on different days. The first time I did the test for her, I found the child had no signs of life. But a few days ago when Miss Wallace came back, I arranged another test for her. This time, results showed that the child was still alive."

Wesley felt like his soul was hit by a heavy hammer. "Boom-", his head was about to explode.

He thought of some fragments.

When Yuna sneaked into the villa to find the memory card left by Wendy's parents, she fell into his trap. Under his interrogation, she admitted that she was pregnant.

He was pretty sure that the child was his. He wanted the child and asked Yuna to proceed with the pregnancy.

When she heard that, Yuna broke down and cried bitterly.

She also thought the child showed no signs of life at that time.

Later, he listened to Joanne's advice and took Yuna to have a pregnancy test. The doctor told them that the child was very healthy.

Hearing this amazing news, Yuna carefully confirmed with the doctor repeatedly whether the child was really healthy.

When she got a positive answer from the doctor, she turned to hug him excitedly.

And she accepted his proposal of marriage not long after they returned to the top of the mountain.

At that moment, Wesley felt his life was complete for the first time in the 30 years that he had lived.

However, shortly after that, Aunt Helen and Iris were kidnapped.

Yuna admitted to him calmly that she took Mifepristone & Misoprostol. She even emphasized repeatedly that she had never believed him and would go back to Rowdy.

In a rage, Wesley took Yuna to the hospital for an examination. The doctor told him that the child had no signs of life and it was caused by drugs.

At that moment, Wesley hated Yuna to the core.

Even if Yuna didn't believe him and regarded him as an enemy, how could she kill the innocent child so cruelly?

He grabbed Yuna's neck and even pointed the gun at her head.

He really wanted to kill Yuna at that time...
