For the first time, Wesley felt a chill running through him because of a feeling of panic. His hands couldn't help trembling.
When he pointed the gun at Yuna, had she ever thought of telling him the truth if he had made up his mind to kill her?
The answer must be yes.
But she still decided to leave to save Aunt Helen and Iris first and tried to figure out what to do about her child.
But she did not need to do this with her life.
If he really pulled the trigger, Yuna might tell him about the blood clots and explain that she had not taken the medicine.
However, he was the first to give up and let Yuna leave in the end.
In that battle without gunpowder, Yuna was the winner.
Wesley smashed his clenched fist down on the wooden tea table, almost breaking it.
Dr. Roberts could imagine how much pain Wesley would feel after the punch. Her face changed and she asked, "Mr. Mu, is your hand... all right?"
Wesley recalled the origin of the misunderstanding-the empty Mifepristone & Misoprostol bottle.
He didn't care about his hand at all. He stared at Dr. Roberts with bloodshot eyes and asked, "Why did Yuna have Mifepristone in her hand?"
"Mifepristone? Oh, I gave it to Miss Wallace," Dr. Roberts said, "the child had no signs of life in the first test, so I suggested to Miss Wallace to give up the child and receive the treatment. A few days ago, I did another test and found the child was fine. Fortunately, she didn't take the medicine. Otherwise, I would be riddled with guilt."
Yuna didn't take Mifepristone & Misoprostol. The test result from the private hospital that Wesley took her to was just a misunderstanding.
Like a general who was defeated on the battlefield, Wesley lowered his eyes and even the lines of his shoulders were no longer as erect as usual.
Feeling sad for Wesley, Joanne suddenly wanted to shield him from the Earth.
She didn't want anyone to see this dejected and dispirited Wesley.
Dr. Roberts also couldn't imagine that the man who seemed to be able to call the wind and summon the rain could be so depressed in the blink of an eye.
A long time later, Wesley asked hoarsely, "So, Yuna chose to keep the child?"
"Yes." Dr. Roberts thought for seconds and hazarded a guess, "She may have thought that if she could hold on to give birth to the child, then he will grow up healthily. He is a continuation of her even though she couldn't survive."
Wesley seemed to be struck by something. He gave Dr. Roberts a sharp look, asking, "Hold on to give birth to the child? What does it mean?"
Only then did Dr. Roberts remember that she had not told Wesley the worst news.
Would Wesley be shattered if he knew Yuna would die soon?
Dr. Roberts glanced at Wesley with a little fear and said, "Miss Wallace's current condition is unstable. She... might die at any time."
Wesley's heart suddenly missed a beat and his eyes dilated. He glared at Dr. Roberts like a demon and shouted, "What did you just say?"
Dr. Roberts was startled and didn't dare to speak.
In fact, Wesley heard it clearly-the blood clots were a serious threat to Yuna's life, and she could die at any time.
Even so, Yuna still didn't want to accept the treatment and chose the child over herself.
Wesley suddenly remembered that he tSimon Yuna repeatedly that he wanted the child at the top of the mountain.
"Did Yuna make such a stupid choice because of his adamant wish?"
If so, Yuna was silly enough!
Dr. Roberts was scared when she saw Wesley's dark face, but she didn't dare to escape.
Joanne walked over to Dr. Roberts and told her to relax-Wesley would not vent his anger on her no matter how much regret he felt.
Dr. Roberts nodded, though still afraid.
Joanne then asked, "Dr. Roberts, do you remember when Wendy met up with you?"
"Yes, she obviously came to sound me out. I found her behavior rather strange, so I didn't dare to tell her anything." Dr. Roberts looked at Joanne in surprise, "Is Dr. Moore on your side?"
"Yes!" Joanne didn't have time to explain much and just continued, "Wendy told me that she saw Wesley's phone number on your desk. Did Yuna leave it to you?"
"Yes," Dr. Roberts nodded and said, "A few days ago, Miss Wallace suddenly came back and gave me Mr. Mu's phone number. She told me to contact Mr. Mu only if there was an emergency."
Joanne was right. It was Yuna who had given Dr. Roberts Wesley's phone number.
Joanne continued to ask, "Dr. Roberts, why did you suddenly resign?"
Dr. Roberts answered honestly, "A few days ago, Miss Wallace suddenly called and asked me if I could go into hiding in a secure place. I thought something might happen, so I resigned from the hospital."
"I see," Joanne glanced at Wesley, "What else do you want to ask Dr. Roberts?"
"Nothing," Wesley called his subordinate and ordered, "Send Dr. Roberts and Miss Ye back."
Hazel had been standing aside and listening to the whole conversation. But the more she listened, the more confused she was. She even suspected that she had time-traveled. It was not until Wesley called her name that she suddenly roused herself and looked at Wesley blankly. "What?"
Just as Joanne was about to say that Hazel had nothing to do with the current situation, the door suddenly opened and Noah dashed in like a gust of wind.
Noah had been running at full speed. If one listened carefully, one could hear him panting. His heaving chest also sold him out.
"What's going on?" Noah stared at Wesley with the fire burning in his eyes, "Wesley, why did you bring Hazel here?"
Noah came for Hazel as expected.
Joanne looked at HazelNorris and then at Noah meaningfully. She thought to herself, "The good play that Wesley mentioned should be about to begin, isn't it?"
Well, she was gossipy. She was curious about what would happen between Noah and Hazel.
Noah was really anxious.
Having been acquainted with Wesley for so many years, he knew Wesley too well.
People who were targeted by Wesley would never have a good end.
Hazel could not be caught by Wesley!
Wesley didn't want to respond. At this time, HazelNorris had already known what was happening.
She looked at Noah for a few seconds and suddenly stepped forward after confirming it was really him. She stared at Noah and said, "Sir, I should be the one asking you. Why are you here?"
Noah gazed at Hazel with displeasure. "Wicked girl. Can't you be more gentle after so many years? No wonder you can't find a boyfriend!"
"Why are you staring at me?" Hazel almost jumped up as she was not as tall as Noah, "Answer my question. How long have you been here?"
Noah gritted his teeth and hissed, looking at Hazel in a displeased manner.
Hazel didn't care about Noah's mood. Just as she was about to get mad, Noah pinched her ear sharply and lifted her up.
Her ears were the most sensitive part of her body. Noah knew that clearly!
"Damn, scumbag! Noah must have done that on purpose!"
"Quiet!" Noah ordered in a masterful tone, "Just follow me."
Hazel did not obey Noah. She struggled all the way and even hit him. However, Noah could always subdue her. She couldn't break free at all.
Soon, Noah pulled HazelNorris away from the room, leaving some confused onlookers behind.
The one who was most curious was Dr. Roberts.
Hazel was her niece, but a bespectacled gentleman tugged Hazel away in front of her.
The strangest thing was that she was not worried at all.
Perhaps it was because the man did not look dangerous. Most importantly, he and Hazel... seemed to be quite familiar with each other.
The only person that Hazel was acquainted with was the man from Glasgow.
Dr. Roberts looked at Joanne uncertainly and asked, "Is that man from Glasgow?"
"Yes," Joanne nodded and said, "his name is Noah. He seems to be very familiar with Doctor Baker..."
Dr. Roberts nodded in relief, saying, "Then I can rest assured."
Joanne was speechless. "Is it because Noah is good-looking?"
The matter between Noah and Hazel was just an interlude. Yuna was the heroine of today's story.
Joanne pointed at the door and said, "Dr. Roberts, let me walk you out."
As soon as they went out of the ward, Dr. Roberts asked Joanne, "Do you want to ask me something?"
"No," Joanne shook her head with a smile, "I just want to tell you that you'll be fine."
This time, it was Dr. Roberts's turn to be stunned. "What do you mean?" she asked.
"I know Rowdy. I'm very clear about what kind of person he is. You must have been frightened when you dealt with him," Joanne smiled slightly and her soft look and voice were particularly reassuring, "We will arrange a place for you to stay and protect you from Rowdy. You are safe now."
Dr. Roberts had been involved in Yuna and Rowdy's affairs for no reason. When she thought of it occasionally, she would sometimes regret having attended to Yuna.
Over the past few days when she was hiding here, she lived in fear all the time.
Joanne's words reassured her.
Dr. Roberts's eyes suddenly reddened and she nodded at Joanne, saying, "Thank you, Mrs. Lambert."
"Not at all," Joanne kept smiling, "We may have to trouble you with Yuna's matter in the future. I hope you can help us."
"I'd love to," Dr. Roberts nodded and promised.
Joanne asked her subordinates to send Dr. Roberts back and then returned to the suite.
Wesley was alone in the living room. He stood in front of the French windows, smoking, without any regard that this was a ward.
Joanne didn't like the smell of cigarettes. But at this time, Wesley needed this cigarette.
She walked over and whispered, "Wesley, let's talk about Yuna."
Wesley took a deep drag on his cigarette and did not reply.
Joanne thought that a person as powerful as Wesley needed time to digest so much bad news.
When she was about to go out and leave Wesley alone, she heard Wesley saying-
"I totally misunderstood her."
