One day, Natalie returned to the Ward Family. Just entering the hall, she found that the desk was full of prize cups and merit certificates won by Sebastian in childhood.
One old lady held the hands of a girl aged over twenty and smiled from ear to ear.
"Grandma, Sebastian has been so outstanding since childhood." The girl held one cup and her eyes were full of worship.
The old lady, Harper Ward smiled kindly. "Ho Ho, Alice, Sebastian has been very clever since childhood. Moreover, he also takes good care of people. You will know this if you get along with him in the future. Your child..."
The two were chatting happily, without noticing that Natalie had come.
Child? Natalie was rather frustrated, and she was about to ask. The steward by the side reminded in a hurry, "Lady."
"Hum?"
On hearing this, Harper stopped, and she eventually found Natalie standing at the gate.
Suddenly, the warm atmosphere disappeared instantly. The kind and smiling old lady straightened her face immediately, and shouted to Natalie angrily;
"Aren't you looking for another man outside? Why do you come back?"
Natalie stood in the original site awkwardly and tries to smile, "Grandma, I know Sebastian has returned from abroad today. I didn't meet him in the company, so I come back to see if he has come back."
On hearing Natalie calling her, the old lady stood up all of a sudden and she stared at Natalie venomously, screaming, "Don't call me grandma. Who is your grandma? Get out of here."
Natalie stood in situ with a gift box. She wanted to explain but she didn't know how.
The girl who was always looking Natalie up and down asked suddenly, "Grandma, who is she?"
The old lady patted her hand. She spoke in a more gentle voice, but with still venomous words, "Just one dirty woman. Alice, don't look at her. She will dirty your eyes."
"OK!" The girl darted a look at Natalie who was still rigid in the original place and nodded her head obediently.
Natalie pinched the ribbon of the gift box, lowered her head and kept silent. Bitter and grievance melted in her heart slowly.
"Why are you still here?" The old lady shouted. On seeing that Natalie still lowered her head and stood in situ, she pulled up the girl in a huff, "Let's go. We clean person should keep away from her dirty body."
When passing by Natalie, she deliberately took the girl to detour far away and covered her nose. It seemed that Natalie were infected with some virus or pestilence.
Natalie was still rigid in the original site. Despite of the full tears in her eyes, she raised her head stubbornly to flow back the tears into sockets.
She had clearly paid a lot for the Ward Family, but why she had to suffer from such grievance and sneer? She couldn't understand.
In the two years, since her uterine younger sister: Mia Smith had disclosed her pregnancy and parturition, she had suffered a lot of sarcasm and scornful look.
She really wanted to tell them the truth. However, she had signed an agreement with Alexander and she should keep confidential the event, so as to give his child a quiet growth environment, otherwise, he could take measures to attack the Ward Family.
For Sebastian, she could even surrogate for others. How could she endure hurting Sebastian like this?
Therefore, Natalie always kept silent for this, and others gradually had a deeper misunderstanding of her.
Eventually, everyone was confirmed that she was a wanton. Nobody believed in her even if she wanted to explain for herself.
The steward shook the head and made a sigh. He walked forward and took over the gift box.
He looked at Natalie with sympathy, and he couldn't help to remind her, "Young lady. That girl is the granddaughter of the old lady's friend. The old lady...seems to admit her into the Ward Family."
Natalie tried hard to smile, "Henry, I don't mind others' opinions. I care Sebastian only."
The steward still bore her kindness in memory because Natalie had sent him the activating oil in the night when he fell and hurt himself last time.
He said with sincere words and earnest wishes, "Young lady, you have to make more efforts. As long as Mr. Ward doesn't admit, no others can replace you."
"OK. I will!" Natalie nodded her head with strength. Thinking of the pleasant chatting situation between the girl and the old lady, she couldn't help asking, "Has Sebastian...come back?"
The steward smiled, "Not yet. But Mr. Ward called before and he said he would come back soon."
"All right." Natalie was excited to red cheeks. The missing was the most painful. Since Sebastian had started to develop subsidiary corporations out of the city, she had hardly seen him.
"OK, Henry, I will wait upstairs. Please call me when Sebastian comes back."
"OK!" The old steward answered in smiles.
The room was simply decorated. The hollow bookshelf and the engraved dresser were old objects she had seen in childhood. After so many years, they were still the same as the ones in her memory.
She sat on the woodcutting bed and watched the familiar decoration in front of her. Her thoughts floated away.
She had been originally a girl in the countryside.
Soon after she was told to have a husband and son prospering fate by an old man, she was delivered to the Ward Family and had an identity of a future wife.
They were childhood sweetheart and found each other congenial. She grew up under the care of Sebastian. They had met for thousands of days and nights. Her deep love for Sebastian was accumulated in these days.
However, Sebastian had become extremely cold to her and had seldom contacted her in the two years. But she forever remembered his caring.
She still remembered that the dry leaf under the drawer in the dresser was the one Sebastian had used to protect her head and pulled her running in heavy rain.
The candies in the jewel case...were used by Sebastian to comfort her when she tumbled and cried.
The rubber bands in the bedside table were used by Sebastian to cheer her up when she was ill.
She could remember all these. But it seemed that Sebastian had forgotten...
He disliked her and avoided her.
But she still loved him deeply.
The cellphone rang happily to break Natalie's memory. On seeing the number of the coming call, she was excited and delighted, her heart was beating very fast. Sebastian called her.
After a deep breath, Natalie pressed the answer key solemnly.
"Hi, Seb..."
Just the first two words, her cheerful sound was interrupted by the cold voice, "Where are you?"
"Ah?" Sebastian's frozen and distant tone was just as the cold water spilling over her head. After coming to sense, she answered blankly, "at, at home."
Natalie felt a bit bitter in her mouth. It seemed that she was still habitual to the warm and elegant sound, intoxicating her like the violoncello.
"I have ordered a necklace in Fortune Jewelry. Go to take it. I will wait for you in Room 604 in Blue Hotel. Tell grandma I will not come back today."
Not come back? Would they stay in the hotel overnight?
Natalie stared blankly at the phone that had hanged up, thinking about the words of Sebastian. Red glows gradually flew to her cheeks, and finally, her entire neck and ears turned red.
