Chapter 41 Why Me

Sierra Moore still didn't know that she didn't get out of the hands of the bastard at all. After receiving the promise, she happily went downstairs, but Nathan Shaw thought of something else.

The relationship between them these days had clearly eased a little. For her to suggest moving out at this time, he thought that something that he did not know about must have happened.

Therefore, the Nathan Shaw called Lisa in and asked her, "What are the rumors in the company recently?"

Lisa guessed that it was because of Sierra Moore. After some deliberation, she said, "These two days, the company has some rumors about Miss Moore. They said that she has some special relationship with some higher-ups in the company, so she can be in the design department."

When she said this, she paused. Seeing that Nathan Shaw's expression did not change, she added, "Miss Moore becomes a designer at such a young age. Inevitably, everyone thinks too much about it."

What Lisa said was full of hidden meanings, but Nathan Shaw understood.

That higher-up naturally referred to him. He thought these people probably didn't dare to say anything about him since he was the President, so they could only shift the topic to Sierra Moore.

He thought it seemed that Sierra Moore had heard of something and felt wronged in her heart, so she had to keep a distance from him.

Speaking of which, he felt he lacked consideration in this matter.

After getting Nathan Shaw's promise, Sierra Moore felt her mood obviously swell up a lot. When she was working in the afternoon, she was not so gloomy. She only thought that she would soon escape from the demon claw, but she was too clever to be wise.

In fact, if she had not heard those words in the morning, she would be very happy to work here and could do what she liked to do since everyone in the office was very good to her.

But after what happened last night and this morning, Sierra Moore's mentality changed. So many years of friendship could be fake, let alone these people who had just known each other for less than two days.

She didn't know if it was because she was too sensitive. She could feel that these people were looking at her with ridicule. Even if some people took the initiative to talk to her, she felt it was because they misunderstood her relationship with Nathan Shaw.

No matter what they were worried about, they were always polite to her.

Only the designer, Wendy Nelson, who was hired with a high salary was indifferent to her. After all, in her position, Wendy Nelson was already a little famous in the industry. Naturally, she was a little arrogant.

And for Sierra Moore to become a designer at such a young age, there was still disdain in Wendy Nelson's eyes. After knowing Sierra Moore's relationship with the President, Wendy Nelson was too lazy to even look at her.

Sierra Moore understood in her heart, so she became more and more silent.

From what happened last night, it could be seen that the person whom she mistook for a friend was actually talking about her in such a bad way behind her back.

Tomorrow was the weekend. At noon, Sophie Lucas had already called her and asked her to go shopping tomorrow.

When she got off work, Sierra Moore received a call from Nathan Shaw. He gave a simple command, "Take the exclusive elevator to the underground parking lot. The password is 0719."

Sierra Moore immediately understood what he meant and felt a little touched. She thought to herself, "Did he also hear those rumors?"

When she reached the underground parking lot, as soon as the elevator door opened, she could see several cars parked in the VIP area.

He leaned against his own car door, the cigarette in his hand flashing red stars.

Perhaps it was because this scene was too familiar as if a hammer had struck down on her head, and her memories passed through the past time and space, crossing over six years and overlapping with this instant.

She stood there in a daze, her memories surging like a tide, spreading the truth in front of her, and completely not allowing her to refuse without an indication at all.

He stubbed out his cigarette and walked over. When he reached out, she instinctively stepped back, just like she did six years ago.

"Come here." Nathan Shaw did not notice her abnormality and pulled her into the car.

Today, Ken was not here. Nathan Shaw drove by himself. When he saw her distracted face after getting in the car, he leaned over and helped her fasten her seat belt.

Sierra Moore was shocked by him. When she looked up, she heard him ask, "What do you want to eat tonight?"

Thinking about what had happened these past few days, Sierra Moore had a very deep question in her heart. What she wanted to know the most now was not what she could eat tonight, but why he chose her.

"Why?" She looked into his eyes and asked him, "Why me?"

With just two words, Nathan Shaw understood this question. He tapped her forehead with his finger. His movements were light, but they moved her heart.

He thought to himself, "Because it's you!"

He thought she was asking about company matters, looking into her moist eyes. "As long as you stay by my side obediently, don't worry about anything else. I'll deal with it."

His gaze was inscrutable, and Sierra Moore lowered her head, not daring to look straight at him.

Nathan Shaw found a pair of sunglasses out of nowhere and put them on for her. Half of the big sunglasses covered her appearance so that others would not recognize her.

Sierra Moore raised her head. Behind the brown lenses, a pair of eyes were watery, making Nathans hearts heat up.

Nathan Shaw pursed his lips and helped her tidy up her hair, which was soft with a good smell.

He patted her head. The soft touch made him unwilling to part with it. He retracted his hands with difficulty. The car slowly started and the sound of the engine could not cover his pleasant voice.

"Sit down and get ready."

Sierra Moore could no longer remember how she had finished her dinner, but that night, she had completely lost sleep.

The past was like a movie, replayed in her mind over and over again. They didn't get along much, but she unexpectedly found that she remembered the whole process of their relationship clearly.

When they first met, he was indifferent and ruthless with disgust in his eyes. All these things that she thought she had long forgotten had been imprinted in the depths of her mind. She had never forgotten them.

Later, he suddenly changed. Although he was still very cold, she was slow to sense his change.

He had become gentle and more patient with her, but he was still very overbearing.

It was as if something was different.

She thought to herself, "Did he recognize me?

"Is that why he has asked me to repay the ten million?

"He said that we had met a long time ago, but who would remember these things after such a long time?"

Moreover, she was very afraid of him at that time. She did not dare to look at his face at all, so how could she remember his appearance?

At that time, he hated her so much that he did not even want to tell her his name. He did not even leave her a glimmer of hope.

Just a day ago, she had stayed by his side with a casual attitude. But now that she knows he is her so-called ex-husband, her feelings have wavered.

What should she do?

Sierra Moore secretly wiped her tears. Her hands groped under the quilt and held his. She quietly clasped each finger of his hand and held him tightly.

Her other hand grabbed the front of his pajamas and she gently leaned into his arms. She listened to his steady heartbeat and murmured in a daze, "What should I do? My heart hurts."

He didn't have to go to work on the weekend, but Nathan Shaw had a fixed biological clock, so he woke up very early. It was a rare vacation. He lay on the bed reading a book, and in his arms was the sleeping girl.

Sierra Moore had insomnia last night and didn't fall asleep until dawn, so she naturally slept soundly.

When the phone rang, Nathan Shaw poked her face and said in a doting tone, "Sisi, your call."

Sierra Moore muttered and moved in his arms, obviously unwilling to wake up.

Her unconscious actions caused Nathan Shaw's blood to boil. He wanted to teased the girl who couldn't get up, but the phone kept ringing like a death charm.

The girl whose sweet dreams were disturbed frowned, and Nathan Shaw had to answer the phone for her.

As soon as the call connected, a roar came from the other side, "Si! Si! You lazybones! Are you lazing around in bed again? Cranberry Square at ten! You are going to die if you dare to be late!"

Nathan Shaw raised his eyebrows. He was obviously dissatisfied with this woman yelling at his kitten, so he answered for Sierra Moore, "She's still sleeping. She's not going."

"..."

Sophie Lucas looked at the phone in her hand. Her brain froze for a moment, but she reacted quickly. She smiled maliciously and said, "Oh, Mr. Shaw! Did our Sisi get tired last night? Did she force you again?"

The word "again" was deliberately raised by a decibel, and one could smell a strong smell of mocking through the phone.

The simple conversation gave Nathan Shaw a certain understanding of Sophie Lucas. It was all said that while getting a girlfriend, one also had to deal with other two women. One was the mother-in-law and the other was the girlfriend's best friend.

Sierra Moore didn't have many friends, so it was obvious that Miss Lucas was her number one best friend.

Nathan Shaw had never given face to anyone, but since it was related to Sierra Moore, he hesitated.

Sophie Lucas waited for a while, but Nathan Shaw didn't reply. She couldn't help but shout at her phone, "Hey, Mr. Shaw, are you still listening?"

These words were obviously intentional. Nathan Shaw adjusted his state to confront her and said coldly, "I'm listening."

"Actually, there are some things that I wanted to say to you a long time ago. I don't know why you want to get close to Sierra Moore and attract her attention, but it is obvious that you have succeeded." Catching this chance, Sophie Lucas sneered.

Hearing her words, Nathan Shaw raised his eyebrows slightly, because the woman had a sharp insight.

"What do you want to say?" He was very calm. That was right. He had been in the business world for so many years, how could he not have some ability?

Sophie Lucas narrowed her eyes and slowly said, "You have been with her for so long. You should be able to tell that Sierra Moore is different from those women you used to have. She is a very pure girl.

"She is pure because she is slow-witted. When I first saw her, I was really surprised. She was like a princess who came out of tales. She has only lived in her own world and believed in the goodness of the world."

As if knowing that she would have a long story to say next, Nathan Shaw gently closed the book in his hands, his fingers casually wrapped around Sierra Moore's hair.

Sophie Lucas seemed to have a lot of things to say to him. In the years she had known Sierra Moore, Sierra Moore's life was monotonous and her personality was spotless. Sierra Moore deserved someone to be good to her.

"You may not believe it. When I first met her, she was not like this. At that time, she was very autistic and had always been alone in school. She did not like to communicate with others. She did not even have a friend.

"Perhaps I shouldn't have told you this. I just want to tell you that Sierra Moore is my friend and I treat her as my biological sister. Therefore, I will never allow anyone to bully her."
