In the end, Ivan gave up. He stepped back, raising his voice, sounding heartbroken. He cried, "Carol, you're ruining yourself this way!"
Andrew had already tightened his arm around Caroline's shoulders, leading her away without looking back.
"It's all settled. I'll have someone take you home later."
Soon after, Andrew's face returned to its familiar, indifferent, and cold expression, clearly intending to send her back.
Caroline shook her head. "I have nowhere to go. I was living at home, but now I've fallen out with them."
Seeing her expression, Andrew softened a little. "Then stay at my place. We've already had a wedding, so we're legally married."
'Stay at his house?'
Andrew said it so casually, but it made Caroline's heart race.
She had thought that after their fake wedding, they would go back to their own worlds!
But his offer left Caroline with no other choice. After all, besides Andrew, she had no one else to rely on.
Soon, he brought her to a villa located halfway up a hill.
At the entrance, there was a small sign, completely out of place with the villa's solemn décor. It had cute, childlike writing that read: Andy and Ellie's Home.
Andy was, of course, Andrew. And that Ellie? She must have been the real bride.
The living room and bedroom were filled with women's belongings, almost everything Caroline could think of.
Judging by the careful arrangement, it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into it.
Caroline couldn't explain how she felt. She couldn't help but sigh. It turned out that, like her, of course Andrew had also been part of a failed wedding.
Andrew glanced at her with a blank expression. "Don't give me that look. I don't need anyone's pity."
His face was already cold, and now, with that unreadable expression, he became even more unapproachable, like a wall of ice that kept everyone at a distance.
Caroline pressed her lips together and stiffened, her back straightening. She didn't dare say another word.
Andrew told her to make herself comfortable, then left for work.
After parting from Andrew, Caroline went to rest. The luxurious villa had many rooms, almost like a maze.
The surroundings were quiet. It seemed Andrew didn't like having too many servants around, and Caroline couldn't find anyone to ask for directions.
She wandered aimlessly for a long time before stopping in front of a room. The decor of the room was simple and elegant, with little sign of occupancy. It was likely a guest room.
Feeling relieved, Caroline walked into the room and closed the door.
After taking a bath, she wrapped herself in a towel and stepped out.
By this time, night had fully fallen. The cool moonlight washed over her, making her skin glow with a soft, ivory-like beauty.
She lay down on the bed, and the faint scent of the bedding quickly lulled her to sleep.
Half-asleep, she felt someone lie down beside her.
The figure exuded a warm, unmistakably masculine presence.
The pleasant scent of the person filled her senses, seizing her attention. Instinctively, Caroline moved closer to him, unaware that her bathrobe had loosened with her movements.
Nearly naked, she pressed her body against the man beside her. Her firm, rosebud-like nipples gently brushed against his strong arm.
One of her long legs draped over his, and with the increasing proximity, Caroline's instincts told her something was off. She slowly opened her eyes, and through the soft moonlight, she realized she was lying completely naked in a man's embrace.
Andrew was also lying next to her, equally naked, his hair still damp from a recent shower.
It looked as if she had deliberately thrown herself at him, with nearly her entire body pressing against his.
At the same moment, the man's eyes slowly opened. A flicker of surprise flashed through Andrew's eyes.
Caroline belatedly realized the situation. Her cheeks flushed, and she quickly covered her mouth in shock. "You... why are you here?"
Andrew rolled over, pinning her beneath him, their warm bodies pressed tightly together.
His brows furrowed, and with a deep, scrutinizing gaze, he asked in a low voice, "That's what I should be asking you. Why are you in my room?"
