Chapter 8 Rebecca or Danielle: Who Will He Choose?

Rebecca nearly bit her lip until it bled when she saw the words "booked a hotel room" along with the photo.

Though the message was anonymous, she could easily guess who sent it.

Was Danielle trying to intimidate her? Force her to back off?

But she had already stepped aside, hadn't she?

The next day, just as Rebecca was about to leave for the villa to get the ring, Danielle called.

"Becky, are you looking for the ring you gave Zach? He gave it to me. Come get it from me."

Rebecca was thunderstruck.

The ring she had given Zachary—he gave it to Danielle? Didn't he say it was in a drawer at the villa?

That ring was important to her. She needed it to return to M. Zone; the ring was her token…

He didn't care about the ring she treasured and had just handed her possession over to Danielle!

Rebecca felt like a wad of cotton was stuck in her throat. She felt awful. Even after the call ended, she couldn't make a sound.

Soon, Danielle sent her a location, requesting to meet there to give her the ring.

After much thought, Rebecca decided to go.

She had to get the ring as soon as possible, but she still couldn't understand how Zachary could give the ring to Danielle.

Arriving at the location, Rebecca was confused.

Why was it the seaside? The map didn't show it was by the sea! She was terrified of water.

Years before, when Zachary had been kidnapped, she bravely went alone to save him.

When she was discovered, the kidnappers, seeing her beauty, demanded that she exchange herself for Zachary's life. She agreed without hesitation.

Later, she fought with the captors and was stabbed in the lower back. The kidnappers, intent on killing her, tied her up, attached a rock to her, and threw her into the sea!

The seawater engulfed her as she struggled to breathe, choking on the water. Her body sank deeper, and a feeling of suffocation overwhelmed her.

Since then, she never dared to go into the water again.

She'd heard Danielle was also afraid of water. Why had she asked to meet there?

Rebecca instinctively wanted to leave, but then she saw Danielle walking over from the beach.

"Becky, I knew you'd come," Danielle smiled sweetly at her.

"The ring. Give it to me," Rebecca coldly extended her hand.

She and Danielle used to be best friends, but now, they had nothing to say to each other.

"Before I give you the ring, let's talk," Danielle's smile faded, suddenly replaced by a disdainful expression. "How long are you going to cling to Zach? How shameless can you be? He doesn't love you at all. What are you trying to force?"

"I've already asked for a divorce. It seems he's the one delaying now," Rebecca sneered. "You should ask your Zach to let me go."

"Stop lying! Zach loves me the most. He can't wait to divorce you!" Danielle flipped her long hair, inadvertently revealing a red mark on her neck.

Rebecca's whole body shook when she saw that mark. Her chest hurt so much she could hardly breathe.

Was it a love bite? What had they done last night?

In three years of marriage, Zachary had never been intimate with her, but with Danielle...

Rebecca struggled to control herself, but the more she thought about it, the more it hurt. She pinched her hand hard to suppress the urge to cry in front of Danielle.

"I've slept with your man! Oh, and he wants to marry me. We're even thinking about having a child." Danielle continued to provoke her.

"Enough!" Rebecca interrupted, her voice shaking. "I don't want to waste words with you. Give me the ring."

"Rebecca, what's the rush?" Danielle asked, her tone dripping with arrogance, as she regarded herself with the air of a victor. "You've hogged him for three years. It's time to give him back to me!"

Rebecca suppressed the bitterness in her heart, her eyes glinting with danger as she glared at Danielle. "You blame me for occupying your position as Mrs. Adams? What would all your admirers think if they knew that it’s you who’s been trying to steal a man who doesn’t belong to you? Danielle, should I also announce to the world that the person who used connections to get into medical school wasn't me—it was you!"

At those words, Danielle's heart trembled, and a chill ran down her spine. "Rebecca, what do you mean?"

"I mean, letting the truth come to light," Rebecca smirked disdainfully.

Back then, with limited spots in medical school, though Danielle had underperformed, she insisted on attending the same university as Rebecca, even threatening suicide.

The Rogers family pulled many strings but to no avail. It was Rebecca who, feeling sorry for Danielle, gave up her own spot so Danielle could enter medical school.

The medical school, unwilling to lose a genius from a medical family, still admitted Rebecca.

Somehow, the outside world twisted it into a narrative of Rebecca using her connections to gain entry into medical school.

Danielle quickly grabbed Rebecca's arm, glaring at her through gritted teeth. "You wouldn't dare!"

The Adams family already didn't like her, thinking she wasn't as good as Rebecca. If this got out, how could she marry Zachary?

Rebecca glanced into Danielle's eyes, her voice laced with threat. "Of course I dare."

Danielle gripped Rebecca's arm tighter, almost digging her nails into Rebecca's flesh.

Her eyes burned with fury. As the atmosphere thickened with tension, familiar footsteps sounded from nearby.

Danielle's eyelashes trembled slightly. She gave Rebecca an odd smile. "Rebecca, don't you want to know if Zach really loves you or not?" Then she added, "Let's play a game then, to see who Zach truly loves, who he'll choose."

With these words, she grinned maliciously and pushed Rebecca toward the sea!

Danielle moved so quickly that Rebecca was completely caught off guard and suddenly thrust into the water. Terror of the ocean engulfed her, her body trembling with fear. She wanted to resist, but it was too late.

Immediately after, Danielle also leaped into the sea.

"Zach, help!" Danielle screamed before hitting the water.

With a "splash," both of them entered the water almost simultaneously.

Seawater rushed into Rebecca's mouth. She thrashed about in panic, the terrifying memory of falling into the water in her attempt to save Zachary making it impossible for her to breathe.

Something seemed to be dragging Rebecca down. She was utterly terrified, desperately struggling in the water.

She was overwhelmed by a surge of emotions, including the fear of suffocation and despair.

"Dannie!" Zachary's anxious voice rang out.

Rebecca felt as though she was on the brink of death. She faintly heard Zachary's voice and noticed a figure swimming toward her.

Her vision was becoming increasingly blurry, the feeling of suffocation driving her mad. It hurt so much—her whole body was in pain.

In her hazy state, Rebecca saw a large hand. It seemed like a lifeline, and she instinctively reached out.

'Danielle is in the water too! Will you really save me?' she thought.

'Zachary, help...'
