"I don't want your baby," Alexander answered coldly without hesitation.
Olivia felt her heart sink.
Alexander frowned. It seemed like he had sensed that something was wrong.
He grabbed her wrist and narrowed his blue eyes as he stared into her eyes. "Are you pregnant?"
Olivia stared into Alexander's eyes. His gaze was filled with confusion and shock. There was no sign that he was happy to become a father.
She pulled her hand back. Her voice was barely a whisper. "How could I be pregnant while taking birth control? I was just joking."
Alexander scrutinized her with his deep eyes, as if he was trying to tell whether she was lying or not.
Olivia discreetly covered the pregnancy test result and forced a faint smile. "Exactly, I'm just kidding."
Alexander was still suspicious, but he released her hand. He always believed that there was no point in bringing a baby into an unhappy marriage.
"Don't joke about things like that," he muttered, walking out of the room.
Olivia felt a hollow ache in her heart.
As she stared down at the pregnancy test in her hand, tears streamed down her cheeks onto the paper and blurred the words.
The doctor told her she was pregnant with twins.
She grew up in an orphanage with no family. Her biggest dream was to have her own home and children.
She would keep these babies, even if Alexander didn't want them.
The next morning, Olivia got up early and started packing her bags.
As they had decided to divorce, she didn't want to live with the Hawthorne Family anymore. She didn't want her pregnancy to be discovered either.
As she dragged her suitcase down the staircase, she saw a beautifully dressed woman instructing the servants to rearrange the living room.
Her commanding tone was so bossy that it felt like she was already the owner of the house.
Olivia felt confused, but when she recalled that she was about to sever ties with the Hawthorne Family, it had nothing to do with her.
The woman turned as she caught Olivia's gaze. She wore a smug smile. "Aren’t you Olivia? I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Tiffany Sinclair."
So this was Tiffany. Olivia was shocked for some minutes.
Tiffany smirked. "You should hurry up and sign the divorce papers. You’ve been here for two years, taking over my place while I was away. It's time to return it to me."
Olivia calmly replied, "I’ve already signed."
"You're quite understanding and I like that," Tiffany said and pulled out a check from her designer handbag. "Here's 150 thousand dollars. Take it as a little token of my appreciation."
A flicker of disdain flashed in Olivia's eyes as she glanced at the check.
"Do you think it's too little? This is a bit more than your salary for ten years. Take the money, so that you won't have to bother us anymore. I'm the only one worthy of Alex. Above all, you're just a commoner. We are living in completely different worlds."
Olivia felt another pang in her heart and replied coldly, "Thank you for your generosity, but I don't need it."
With that, she quickly picked up her suitcase and prepared to leave.
As Tiffany saw that Olivia's suitcase was a designer brand, she thought, 'Olivia could't possibly afford that suitcase. For her to reject my money, she must be hiding something more valuable inside the suitcase. If I can expose her, Alex will hate her more...'
Tiffany beamed a wicked smile and stood in front of her. "What is in that suitcase? Open it and let me see."
Olivia frowned in displeasure. "It's my personal belongings."
"Personal belongings? Are you sure they are not the valuable items that you stole from this house? Hand it over now!" Tiffany stepped forward and snatched the suitcase. She even tried to slap Olivia in the process.
Olivia kicked Tiffany's knee while trying to defend herself. Tiffany fell to the floor and started wailing, "My leg! It hurts so much!"
Olivia rolled her eyes, thinking, 'Seriously? I barely touched her.'
"Olivia, what are you doing?" A deep voice suddenly came from behind her.
Olivia turned and saw Alexander walking in from outside.
She froze and whispered, "Alexander, it's not what you think..."
"Alex?" Tiffany was choked with tears.
Alexander asked with a concerned expression, "Are you alright?"
"Alex, my leg... hurts so much. I think it's broken. How will I ever dance again?" Tiffany whimpered.
Alexander gently lifted Tiffany and carried her to the sofa. "You'll be fine. I'll call a doctor to check on you."
With that, he turned to Olivia with an intense glare. "Apologize to Tiffy right now."
