In the early morning, the ward was quiet. A few glares were shining through the window with everything in this room shrouded in the tender and soft morning light.
Layla turned over and opened her eyes, suddenly finding an enlarged face in front of her. She was just startled.
“Woke up?” Trevor naturally touched her forehead in an indifferent way and said, “Emm…not burning up yet. The drip was helpful.”
“What…what happened to me?” Layla felt her throat was dry and painful while trying to speak any words.
“You got a bad fever. and I, sent you to the hospital.” Raising his eyebrows, Trevor showed a pondering smile, waiting for Layla’s grateful words.
Thanks to her dry throat, however, Layla was unable to speak out any word. Let alone speak to the bad guy who had bullied her.
One minute passed by silently, but Trevor did not hear any word of gratitude that he wanted.
So, full of displeasure in his heart, there was growing coldness on his face as well as in his deep eyes.
“Hey, you bad girl, it is me who rescued you from the disgusting landlord yesterday. It’s also me who sent you to the hospital and gave you the best treatment, and I took care of you for a whole night! That’s how you treat me? Don’t you have anything to say?” Pinching Layla's chin, Trevor was so angry as if he would eat her.
“No, I have nothing to say to you. You know what, you just like a plague! So, just leave me alone!” Layla said.
However, Trevor increased his strength on Layla’s chin, leading to a wrong impression that her chin might be crushed by him.
At the same time, the plague was leaning closer and closer to her, saying “I have saved you out of my kindness. But, you repaid me even with no thank-you words at all. Instead, how dare you call me ‘the plague’? Do you have any conscience?”
“Go to hell! You bastard…” scolded Layla.
“Cursing me? It must be owed to the dullness of your lips!” Throwing Layla under his body on the sickbed, Trevor gave a heavy kiss to her to stop her words.
Feeling weak all over, Layla could not let the overbearing man, who was kissing her, off her body. While she was extremely helpless, Trevor’s cell phone rang.
“What’s up?” Trevor asked without any patience.
“Mr. Moore, I am so sorry to bother you. Last Friday, you made an appointment with the deputy mayor about the land in the West District. The time is 10 o’clock this morning and it is arranged at the Nexus Center.”
The call was made by Luna.
Her boss who had being never ever late for work did not appear when it was already 9:30 morning. Therefore, what she could do was only to make a call.
“Got it. You should make the arrangement in the first place. Be careful and
don’t neglect those coming from the government. I will arrive on time.” Trevor hung up his smartphone.
“Hey you, listen, stay here and wait for me to come back. Or, I warn you, if you dare to run away, you will die!” Finishing these, Trevor took a bite of Layla on her nose.
“Keep that in mind!” Trevor pinched cheeks of Layla and then left as if nothing had happened.
However, Trevor could never expect that his warning was directly ignored by Layla.
Within one minute after Trevor left the hospital, the pretty head nurse came in and inquired after her well-being, trying to please her.
Layla ate a little rice porridge sent by the head nurse. With some power again, she planned to leave, for she had to work to earn money. Otherwise, she would soon be a homeless beggar.
“Miss. Evans, you can't leave now.” The head nurse prevented her.
“I’ve already recovered from illness. I can go.” Wearing in patients’ hospital gown, Layla walked to the door for herself.
“Miss. Evans, you’d better take another rest for a while. Though your temperature just comes down, your body is still weak.” The head nurse hurriedly stood at the door.
“But I really have something to do! Why are you going to stop me?” Layla was speechless, suspecting that why there was a restriction for the sick to leave the hospital.
