Facing the strike of Layl’ period, Trevor was on the verge of losing it. This was supposed to be his wedding night!
“I only realized when I was showering, that’s why I didn’t come out right away.” Layla was so shy that her face was blushed, her head lowered, not daring to meet Trevor’s anguished expression.
“Why didn’t you say it earlier?” He was beyond depressed.
“I wanted to say it, but you never gave me a chance,” Layla pouted, her head drooping, looking utterly pitiful.”
Trevor was speechless, and both of them were silent. Layla plucked up her courage and said, “I didn’t prepare napkins.”
“You’re hungry? Didn't you just have two steaks tonight? I’ve never seen a woman eat as much as you. How are you already hungry?” Trevor snapped, frustrated that his enthusiasm had led to such an unexpected situation.””
“I don’t mean the napkins used at meals, but the sanitary ones.” With her head down, her face w as red as a tomato.
Trevor’s face darkened instantly, filled with the urge to scream. “Layla, have you lost your mind? Do you actually expect me to go out and buy you that stuff?”“”
Layla said nothing, just gazing at him with pleading eyes.
Trevor clenched his fists, stormed into the bathroom for a cold shower, changed clothes, and headed out. In just about ten minutes, he threw a bag onto the bed in front of the pitiful woman.
Seeing she rushed into the washroom like a hare, he gulped down a few mouthfuls of beer.
How could he be out of luck like that? A groom, on his wedding night, unable to enjoy the moment with his wife and forced to go buy women’s products! He, the president of Moore Group, had never done such a thing in his life.
For days afterward, every time Trevor thought of that humiliating trip to the convenience store, sneaking around like a thief, it infuriated him all over again. He’d never been so embarrassed in his entire life!
Only the heavens knew how awkward that night had been for him!
Moore Group has three branches in Bilton. Trevor planned to use this wedding trip as a chance and inspect them all.
Layla, however, didn’t speak any foreign languages, and to make things worse, her period had arrived, leaving her with constant cramps. While Trevor was out working, she decided to stay in the hotel, unwilling to take a single step outside.
“Alas!” Layla sighed, for she had nothing to do. The TV channels were all in foreign languages, and she couldn’t understand any single word. She paced in the suite.
“Wow, a computer!” Layla exclaimed in excitement when she stumbled upon a study-like room in the luxurious suite. A sleek Apple computer sat on the desk, and Layla’s face lit up with joy.
She quickly powered it on but couldn’t find SNAPCHAT, “Such a high-end computer even doesn’t have SNAPCHAT. It’s lame.”
While complaining, she downloaded SNAPCHAT through the browser. Although Layla was not good at learning, she was proficient in the tricks and knacks. She often went to the net bar with a few classmates and hung out there for a long time. Anyway, her father and stepmother hated her. If she didn’t appear at home, they would feel delighted and peaceful!
With the computer keeping her company, the day slipped by without her even realizing it.
Trevor dragged his exhausted body back to the hotel that night. He had spent the entire day inspecting the local branch offices and sitting through meetings, and every bone in his body felt like it was falling apart.
“Baby, were you good today, staying here by yourself?”” Trevor asked, tossing his coat and briefcase aside before slumping lazily onto the couch near the entrance.
Layla heard him. Although she was reluctant to leave the computer, she still came to his side.
“You’re back? Done with work? Have you eaten?” She asked with concern. Earlier, she had the western food sent by room service.
“No. I’m hungry, and I want to eat you!” Trevor dissatisfied that he was newly married, but he could not have sex with her. He was full of grievances, but he could only admit that he was unlucky because of the visit of Aunt Flow. Although he was domineering, he knew something about women; in that special period, he couldn’t do that to her.
Layla’s face flushed, and she didn’t answer with her head down.
He just pulled her into his arms. He couldn’t do that to her, but hugs and kisses should be okay!
His dry kisses turned into wet heated ones, and Layla felt his body get hotter and hotter.
“Stop! I’m... I’m having a period.” She reminded him with a flushed face.
At that time, the waiter sent some western food in, and Trevor forced her to eat with him.
“Baby, did you feel bored today?” Trevor asked.
“Not bad. Here’s a computer, and the Internet is available.” As long as she had a computer, she would never feel bored.
“What did you do on the Internet?” Trevor asked.
“I chatted with Angel. She had a good mark, 588 points, and now she is applying for the scholarship and student loan of foreign languages institute. She finally decides to go to college.” When mentioning Angel could go to college, she was very pleased and said it with a smile.
“How many points did you get?” Trevor didn’t care about Angel. What mattered to him was whether his silly wife had completely flunked her exams.“”
“Far less.” She just got 250, and she was embarrassed to mention it.
“Far less… so how many?” He persisted, unwilling to let it go.
“You know I’m not good at learning. Didn’t you say you’d send me to that private university anyway? Does the score even matter?” Layla began to talk about other things. Trevor stopped eating and squinted at her with a domineering gaze.
“Tell me, how many.” He was commanding.
Layla had to tell him the truth, “250.”
Hearing that, Trevor burst into laughter, “You little fool! Only you could get a score like that on the college entrance exam. Two-fifty! You really are a two-fifty!”
Layla pouted, upset. “I told you I’m bad at school! And I didn’t do well on the exam either. Instead of comforting me, you’re making fun of me. You’re the worst! If you ever fail at something, I’m going to laugh at you just like this.”
Furious, she stomped off into the other room to use the computer, ignoring him completely.””
Trevor still amused by her ridiculous score, found her stubbornness adorable. He grabbed his laptop, sat down next to her at the desk, and opened it up.
“What are you playing?” asked him casually.
“SNAPCHAT games, Tile-matching, Solitaire,” she answered indifferently.
“Child’s play,” Trevor scoffed, opening one of his complex games.
Though they sat side by side, each focused on their own game for the next hour. When Trevor decided it was getting late, he finally shut his laptop.””
Layla’s eyes drifted to Trevor’s work laptop, and she noticed that the desktop wallpaper was a photo of him with another woman. Intrigued, she leaned closer. The photo was clearly old—Trevor looked much younger, lacking the maturity he now carried. The woman wore a white dress, her long hair draping over her shoulders, exuding an ethereal beauty like a goddess descended from the heavens.
Even Layla, as clueless as she could be, could tell there was a story behind the two people in the picture.
Moreover, the present Trevor was different from the one in the photo.
Now, his expression was either cold and distant or mischievously cynical. But in the photo, his smile was pure, warm, and sincere—so unlike the Trevor she was familiar with.
“Have you stared enough?” Trevor snapped, slamming the laptop shut with a loud clap and glaring at her.
“I was just looking… Is that the person you like?” She asked with an uneasy smile.
“It’s none of your business.” Trevor replied harshly, brushing her off as if she didn’t exist and walking away from the desk.
Layla’s emotions churned. She couldn’t understand this man—her husband, no less—who treated her with such hot and cold indifference.
Layla put on her nightdress and saw that Trevor had occupied the whole bed, leaving her no place at all, so it seemed that she had to sleep on the couch. She was about to leave when he pulled her into his arms.
“Mmm!” His domineering lips covered her mouth. With a long and wet French kiss, he enjoyed her smell.
