Chapter 48 She Lied Again

Layla and Angel finished their lunch outside. No sooner had just three minutes passed when the two departed than Layla's smartphone rang.

"Hello, Layla, it's Zion. Are you free this afternoon? I have a good idea for dancing and would like to have your comments."

"Senior Zion, I have to attend the first and second classes in the afternoon. Can I go to the dancing room to find you after classes?"

"Okay, I'll wait for you."

"Sure, I'll right on time."

As soon as she hung up, Layla received another call from a disappointing name—Trevor.

After she put it through, Trevor shouted at the other end of the call, "Layla, who did you call with? The line was engaged."

"Hello, em...I just received a call from a female classmate, who asked me to occupy a seat for her for the lectures this afternoon." Layla was a little nervous, for she would definitely come to a bad end if Trevor knew the fact, namely, she just called with such a handsome campus-king guy. However, she lied to him again, but it should not be uncovered.

"Where are you now?" Trevor asked in a bad mood.

"I just had lunch with Angel and I am going back to college. Rest assured! There was no male friend." Layla explained quickly. Though she told the truth, it still sounded like she was painting her lie, which made Trevor even more furious.

At that time, Trevor's car was parked at the gate of Dervay Saints Academy. Through the rear-view mirror, he saw Layla wandered while talking on the phone with a big bag on her back.

Perhaps due to her full concentration on the phone, Layla did not notice him even though she had already bypassed his car.

Trevor opened the door. He stretched his arm and caught Layla on the strap of her backpack.

"Who's it?" Layla returned back only to find Trevor giving her an angry stare.

"Oh! Why are you here?" Layla forced a smile, causing her a really unnatural look on her face.

Noticing her guilty look, Trevor more confirmed that his little wife must be flirting with other men. That's why she became so scared to see him.

Taking Layla into his car, Trevor quickly drove his car away from Dervay Saints Academy.

"Where are you taking me? I have to attend two classes this afternoon." Layla said to Trevor, who remained in silence.

"Go home." Trevor replied shortly.

Layla felt restless. Having been together with Trevor for so long, she came to know his temper. Now, Trevor's expression reflected the warning sign of the rage, which could be compared to a volcanic eruption!

Layla knew that she could not irritate him anymore at this moment but comply with his wishes. Then she spoke to Trevor in a flattering voice, "Hubby, you asked me to study hard in college. There're compulsory courses this afternoon, so they are very important. What's the matter? Can't you talk to me after classes?"

Ignoring what Layla said to him, Trevor simply remained in silence and drove his car directly to the underground parking of their apartment. After that, he took her straightly to their home without any word.

His silence scared Layla so that she kept talking to him, though, with no reply.

"Bang!" Trevor slammed the door of the apartment.

"Hubby, why are you so mad? Did I make any mistake?" Layla asked cautiously.

"Give me your smartphone!" Trevor stretched his hand. His seriousgaze scared Layla.

She handed her phone over to Trevor, who quickly slid through the call record. His face was even darker than before.

"Just now, you said that a female classmate called you, asking you to occupy a seat for her." Trevor shook Layla's smartphone. He was too angry to speak out a word. After a while, he continued, "When did Zion become your female classmate?"

"Dear, don't misunderstand me. Zion is the president of our Dance Club. He called me just to ask me to go to the dancing room when I am free in the afternoon. That's it. I was afraid that you would misunderstand me before, so I lied. I know. It's my fault. Don't be so mad." Layla explained immediately.

She was so worried that she burst into tears. All she did was just to catch a few glances at Zion, for she thought he was really handsome. But she really did not have any intimate affection upon him. In fact, she had nothing to do with Zion. However, a momentary slip led her to lie to Trevor, the jealous old man. Now, she found it hard to justify herself.

Trevor threw an angry stare to Layla and dragged her into the study.

Turning on his working laptop, Trevor pointed the material Andrew had sent to his mailbox, saying, "Layla, look at it carefully! How dare you say that you have no relationship with Zion?"

"I really have nothing to do with Zion! But are you investigating him? Or, you are inquiring into me?" cried Layla, feeling very aggrieved. As Trevor had carried out the investigation, he should know there was totally nothing between Zion and her. But why should he get so mad on her?

"I had not intended to investigate him or you. I am really busy managing Moore Group. I actually have no time to do that. To tell you the truth, it is your Senior Zion who carried out the investigation, including both of us." Finishing his words, Trevor closed his laptop, feeling more irritated than he was just now.

"Senior Zion are investigating me? How come?" Layla said to herself. After she thought for a while, she quickly explained, "Senior Zion is the president of FLY Dance Club and I am a freshman of the club with your permission. So, it's quite normal for a president to inquire into his new member."

"Dear, don't be so mad! You really misunderstood me. I will definitely not provoke any other male students in college. I promise that I won't lie to you anymore," said Layla while hugging Trevor's arm. This old man looked really scared when he was in a great rage.

Trevor pushed Layla away and leaned against the desk, saying, "Layla, you're really good at embellishing a lie. Fine, leaving aside Zion, how about Reed? How do you explain that?"

"Reed, ugh! That guy is my sworn enemy, the nasty man who you met before in the seafood restaurant. He's always bullying me and once kicked me. Even if all men in the world died, I wouldn't have any affection for him." Mentioning Reed, Layla was full of grievances. In her heart, that guy was nasty to death.

"Reed is also investigating you. Besides, he took advantage of my license number to make an investigation on me and our relationship." Trevor threw a stare to Layla with anger, finding this little girl really troublesome. He had tended to have her keep a low profile on campus. But, during these days after the college started, she had stirred up investigations from two male students, which was really unacceptable for him.

"Hmm, that guy is investigating me, for he must want to bully me more. Hubby, you should protect me!" Layla took Trevor's arm, showing a pettishly charming face.

In order to let Trevor calm down as quickly as possible, Layla stood on tiptoe to kiss him on his chin, saying, "Dear, stop being angry, please?"

Trevor sighed. He could not stand the little girl's pettishly charming act. Even though he burned with anger, he almostcalmed down.

"You naughty girl! Can't you behave even for a while?" Trevor pulled his little wife into his arms, showing that he did not tend to continue blaming her mistake.

Layla sank in Trevor's hug and continued to act spoiled, saying to him, "Dear, you are not mad at me anymore, are you?"

"Remember, keep a low-profile on campus and don't get close to any of your male classmates. Even if you don’t intend to provoke people, they may fall in love with you. I suppose that both Zion and Reed have taken a fancy to you. So, keep a distance from them and don't talk to them anymore." Trevor warned Layla again but in a soft voice.

"Dear, Senior Zion has a girlfriend, Senior Molly. She is really beautiful and elegant. Compared to her, I’m like a small potato. So, it's impossible for Senior Zion to take a fancy to me. Instead, he just cares about his new member. As for Reed, he's always bullying me. So, he did this just for making me suffer more. Hubby, you should help me!" Snuggling up to Trevor, Layla continued to act spoiled, for she really did not believe that these two students may possibly fall in love with her.

Trevor did not argue with her, but his instincts told him otherwise. Zion might have a girlfriend. For this fact, he would have Andrew check for it; as for Reed, the troublesome guy dared to bully his little wife probably out of his affection for Layla. Likewise, when he was a child, he used to deliberately tease the girl he liked so as to get her attention.

"Dear, can you drop me off at college? I'll be late if we stay here for a longer time." Layla looked at the clock of the study. The class would begin in less than half an hour.

Trevor had already canceled all the arrangements in the afternoon and evening, so he was free this afternoon. Since he had some rare downtime, he would not really waste it.

Trevor abruptly took Layla in his arms, saying, "You don't bother to go to college, for I have already helped you to get leave. Although you don't like these two nasty guys, it's still your fault for they've paid too much attention to you. Plus, you lied to me today once again. That makes two mistakes. This afternoon, I don't have to go to work, so now let's go to the bedroom. We have enough time to work on it, trying to figure out how I should punish you."

"What! You want it again!" Layla was almost crying, for she knew what he meant. But, why was he always being so energetic? Couldn't he feel tired?

Trevor seemed really not to feel worn out and kept doing the exercises together with Layla, who did not dare to complain. It was his punishment for her. By the time he was done, it was already dinnertime. Only till this moment did she remembered that she had promised Zion to find him in the dancing room after class.

Layla sent a discreet message to Zion when Trevor went to the bathroom, writing, "Senior Zion,  I’m so sorry! Something came up at home, so I cannot manage to go to the dancing room. It's not convenient to talk about it over the phone. I will contact you tomorrow when I'm on campus."

After sending the text message, Layla immediately delete it in the outbox in case that she would be caught by Trevor. After that, she continued to lie in bed, playing mobile games.

Trevor took a shower and returned to Layla's side, his restless hands beginning moving on her body again and saying, "Babe, I want you again. What should I do?"
