Chapter 13 La Esperanza

"Mr. Alexander, what do you think?" The host looked at him with a fawning expression.

Alexander Chase stood up and walked downstairs slowly. He stood by Tanya and glanced at the people present. He said, "It's obvious who's right and who's wrong. Is there anyone having another opinion?"

His attitude was very clear.

"What do you mean to be obvious? Is it true that Mr. Alexander doesn't care about justice? Will you cover up a thief?" Clara Harrington was jealous and angry.

Chu Tiankuan even didn't raise his eyes. He grasped Tanya's wrist. Her sleeve slipped down, revealing a slender wrist. A silver bracelet was worn on her wrist with a blood-colored diamond hanging on it.

Breathing sounds came and went.

Clara Harrington's face turned pale immediately. This was the priceless blood diamond in the history book...

In the 17th century, Spain's powerful navy dominated the seas, transporting wealth from the New World back to Europe. Among these fleets was ‘La Esperanza’, a heavily guarded galleon carrying the most precious cargo of all—diamonds from the heart of Africa. These blood diamonds, obtained through ruthless conflict and exploitation in remote African mines controlled by colonial forces.

Just off the coast of the Bahamas, a violent storm struck the fleet, scattering the ships. La Esperanza, could not weather the storm. The ship sank, vanishing beneath the waves, taking with her the diamonds and countless other treasures. Legends claimed that the gems had been cursed by African tribes, bringing disaster to anyone who possessed them.

Three hundred years later, a marine archaeology team, led by treasure hunter Victor Serrano, uncovers the remains of La Esperanza during an expedition funded by secret backers. Among the relics pulled from the depths was the long-lost chest of blood diamonds. The story of the cursed diamonds quickly spread among the elite circles of collectors and billionaires.

As the bidding reached astronomical levels. Just as the auctioneer was about to bring the hammer down on a $40 million bid, Alexander raised his hand. He offered $60 million—the blood diamond named after it’s ship ‘La Esperanza’.

[Visitor] FrostBite7: La Esperanza!!!!

[Visitor] Star Eyes: Oh my, oh my, I finally saw the most expensive blood diamond in this novel!

[Visitor] Flake: Wow,wow... This blood diamond it's so beautiful!

"Owning this blood diamond that I sent to Tanya, does she have to steal your mass-produced jewelry?"

"My necklace is not a common one..." Clara Harrington couldn't help arguing, but her voice was getting lower and lower. Indeed, compared with the blood diamond bought by Alexander, the pearl on her necklace could only be counted as a glass bead.

Tanya was shocked. She had not expected the bracelet Alexander Chase sent to her turned out to be that famous, historical and expensive!

After this "battle", Tanya's name was thoroughly spread in the celebrity circle.

Alexander Chase parked his car in the vestibule of the Empire State Building, and Tanya got into the position of the co-pilot.

"It's the first time that I found my wrist is so valuable. My CEO, you hide your mind too deeply. You should tell me the value of this diamond in advance. What if I accidentally drop it?"

Alexander Chase put on the sunglasses and started the engine of the car. "If you lost it, you can pay back by washing the toilet for me for a lifetime. Isn't it the best work for you, toilet cleaning master?"

Tanya played with the diamond on her wrist and smiled lightly.

"Alex, there’s something I don't understand. Since you have decided to make me embarrassed, why did you help me in the end?"

It was a joke Alexander Chase looked forward to playing on her. At the beginning that he took her in the banquet, he deliberately drew a lot of hatred for her.

The car glided beneath the cloak of night, its journey swallowed by the shadows of the deepening dusk.

Alexander Chase stared at her deeply and praised her without any sincerity. "You are mine. I can embarrass you, make you put on a farce, but no one else is allowed to touch what's mine."

Tanya heard his words, and showed an understanding expression.

"So, do you think it is interesting tonight? How do you feel when you are in the farce?" Alexander Chase suddenly asked.

Tanya was perplexed. Thinking, "What is the plot about... I can’t remember..."

Thinking for a while, she came to the conclusion and said, "Alexander, You don’t actually want to play out a dramatic, tortured love story with me, do you??"

"Oh," Alexander Chase wore sneer and said, "The plot or this urban romance novel world is not important. Anyway, I am just a NPC of your missions to conquer, isn't it?"

Tanya was completely stunned.

The atmosphere in the live stream condensed for a few seconds, and the comments moved on quickly.

[Visitor] Popcorn: He scared me. What does the CEO mean? Did he know the truth?
