Chapter 16 An Ulterior Motive

After hanging up the call, Leo continued driving. And Vivian asked him with some displeasure, "It's Kevin, right?"

"Yes."

"Did you tell him about it as well?"

Leo glanced at the rear mirror and replied with an expressionless face, "Yes!"

"You!" Vivian sat up straight, "Why are you telling them everything? Is it necessary to let them know about the misunderstanding between the two of us?"

"They're my best friends, ok? When I don't know what to do, who else can I count on except for them?"

"Why don't you come to me and ask me for clarification?"

"Come to you? Are you at home then? Will you tell me the truth?"

Vivian got silent for a moment, and spoke in an injured voice, "I did lie to you. It's my fault. Honey, I'm sorry. But I did that for a reason."

"Okay. Tell me the reason when we arrive home instead of continuing to deceive me. Sophie is right. You can't lie to me and you have to tell me the truth."

"I will definitely tell you the truth, honey. So, don't be angry with me, okay?"

Leo did not respond. And the car sank into silence again.

After a while, Vivian whispered, "Honey, I think, you should have fewer contacts with Sophie in the future. She has an ulterior motive!"

Leo suddenly gave birth to a sense of annoyance and wished to tell Vivian loudly, "If Sophie had an ulterior motive, it was you who offered her the opportunity. Why hasn't she gone too far before?"

But once these words were said out, they were too hurtful for her. So, he chose to keep silent.

Vivian did not get a reply from her husband and began to get a little anxious. Today, Sophie made her feel a strong threat.

Following her intuition, she knew that Sophie would never give up her husband. Since Sophie chose not to hide her feelings for Leo, then she would make every effort to win him. Now there was no possibility of being friends anymore between them.

Sophie was Leo's friend of the opposite gender. Before this, Vivian and Sophie were getting quite well because she always minded the boundaries and never crossed the line.

And today, she completely crossed the line and even started to be aggressive.

Vivian was chagrined and blamed herself for being unthoughtful, bringing their marital relationship into a dangerous situation.

She could tell from her husband's expression that he didn't trust her. Once he couldn't be offered a good reason to let this whole thing go, their marriage was destined to sink into a desperate situation.

She felt fear and pressure, and of course, the biggest threat she was currently facing was from Sophie.

Now she was sure of Sophie's feelings for Leo. They were far from ordinary friendship.

Vivian had thought about Sophie's threat before. But she trusted Leo and his character. And she knew that her husband loved her single-mindedly, and had always harbored a strong faith in their love.

She believed that no matter how beautiful Sophie looked, her husband wouldn't cross the line.

For Leo, he couldn't tolerate marriage betrayal. It was precisely for this reason that he could not do anything wrong to her.

But for now, the situation was quite different.

Due to her own negligence, now her husband doubted seriously her loyalty which gave Sophie the opportunity to win her husband's love.

Such an outcome forced her to re-examine the relationship between her husband and Sophie.

Simply put, she could turn a blind eye ago. But now she absolutely couldn't. She had to eliminate her husband's doubts and get rid of Sophie's threat.

While she was thinking about how to eliminate this hidden problem, Sophie was back home thinking seriously about how to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
