Leo cursed quietly. Embarrassed, he did not know how to continue the conversation.

Aggrieved, Vivian said, “Are you doubting me again? Mrs. Laura gave me a SIM card the other day. She insisted on giving me the card so it’s easier for us to get in touch. That’s why I took it.”

“Why don’t you use your phone?”

Hearing that, Vivian felt even more aggrieved. She answered in a tearful voice, “I don’t want to give them my contact number. I’m afraid they would harass me, and Mrs. Laura came up with this idea. You got a problem with that?”

“No!” Nervously, Leo answered, “Of course not. I’m just curious about how you guys usually contact each other. Don’t worry. I’m not overthinking.”

“What do you mean by how we contact each other? We keep in touch through phone obviously. It’s just that we don’t contact each other very often, so you don’t see me calling them. I know what you’re thinking. You think I have an affair with Tommy, right?”

Leo was extremely embarrassed. He thought he found absolute proof, but he was wrong about her. It was all Sophie’s fault. Why did she have to start analyzing stuff and make a fuss about nothing?

However, on second thought, he was mainly responsible for wronging Vivian. He was the one who chose to listen to Sophie and gave up in trusting Vivian. He should not blame Sophie.

At this point, the best solution was for him to admit his mistake. He could not let this issue affect their relationship.

“Honey, it’s not like that. I was just curious. Now that everything is clear, I sincerely apologize to you, alright? Honey, please forgive me!”

“You’re lying. If that’s not what you think, why are you apologizing to me? You’re obviously feeling guilty and that means you did think that I had an affair with Tommy!”

Vivian did not seem like she was going to spare him so easily. Her words sounded so harsh.

“I’ll apologize to you right away whenever you get angry in the future, alright? After all, I’m your husband.”

“Please, don’t say that. I’m not an unreasonable person. If I am the one at fault, I will apologize. But I don’t like the fact that my own husband keeps accusing me without any reasons!”

“Yes, yes. You’re absolutely right, mother of our future baby. It’s my mistake. I’ll never do that again.”

Hearing that, Vivian smiled, feeling satisfied with Leo’s attitude. Cutting him some slack, she mocked him instead, “What do you mean mother of our future baby? I’m not pregnant yet!”

Immediately, Leo used the opportunity to change the topic. Cheekily, he asked, “Talking about this, we’ve been trying quite hard recently. Why aren’t you showing symptoms of pregnancy yet?”

“How would I know? You should ask yourself that question. Do you think we need to go for a checkup in the hospital?”

“What are you talking about? I’m very healthy. Why do you want me to go to the hospital? Don’t malign me.”

“I’m not saying that there’s something wrong with you. I’m just suggesting that both of us go for a checkup right after my parents leave.”

“You’re overthinking. I’m not going. I can accompany you to go if you want. I’m as healthy as a horse. I don’t need a checkup!”

“No! You can’t say for sure. You have to do the checkup with me, and we’ll go today!”

Not giving him any chance to refute, she fished out her phone and called the postpartum call center. Leo pouted. Knowing Vivian’s character, he had no way to avoid this.

As soon as they arrived at the car park of the airport, Vivian hurriedly opened the door and urged Leo, “Hurry up, we’re late. If they entered the security, we won’t be able to see them.”

Hurriedly, Leo followed after her. Carrying piles of bags, they rushed towards the terminal. As soon as they entered the airport, they saw Mrs. Laura standing next to the service counter, waving her hands at them.

Right away, both of them rushed up to her. Mrs. Laura complained, “Vivian, what took you so long? We’ll be going inside now.”

Before Vivian could answer, Leo interrupted, “I’m sorry. There was quite a traffic on the road. Where are they? I don’t see them here.”

Casting Leo a glance, Mrs. Laura ignored him. Instead, she spoke to Vivian, “They’re waiting at the VIP entrance. Let’s go!”

With that, she wanted to leave.

“Mrs. Laura!” Vivian stopped Mrs. Laura before taking off the phone watch and putting it into her hands. “You can take this with you. Let’s not contact each other in the future.”

A trace of sadness flashed across Mrs. Laura’s eyes. Holding onto the phone watch, she stood in a daze, looking bewildered.

Smiling, Leo took the watch from Mrs. Laura and put it on Vivian’s wrist again.

“Keep it. Just in case you miss her, you can call her. At least it’ll remind you of Mrs. Laura. You don’t have to be to overdo it.”

Mrs. Laura flashed him a grateful smile. Eyes no long one of lofty disdain, she said, “Thank you.”

“No worries, Mrs. Laura. We’re a family. You don’t have to thank me.”

Instantly, Mrs. Laura’s smile widened. “Alright, let’s go and see your parents. Don’t make them wait too long!”

The farewell was very peaceful. As usual, Vivian’s parents ignored Leo. They reminded Vivian to take care of herself and asked her to visit them whenever she had time.

As Vivian talked to her parents, she kept stealing glances at Leo’s expression.

It was then that she saw him standing there with a smile, not even minding being left out. He even took the initiative to greet Tommy.

Seeing that, Vivian knew that Leo’s suspicion towards her must have been cleared. Instantly, she felt a wave of relief washing over her.

Luckily, she managed to act quickly and found an excuse to cover up her extra phone. There should be nothing else that would raise his suspicion for now.

What if Leo asked her for her other phone? Was she supposed to give it to him?

Not giving him signaled, she was hiding something from him, yet giving him would raise his suspicion towards her once again.

Vivian was not dumb. She knew Leo’s job scope very well.

He worked in a the Delaney Group, in the department of telecommunication and dealt with communication software. It was literally a piece of cake for Leo to retrieve her call log through the back door.

All she could now was take on the risk. Hence, she decided not to take any preventive measures.

She knew that Leo was a big-hearted man. Since he already got over his doubts, he would not keep pestering her about the same issue.

It was a way of him showing her his trust and love.

In the end, Vivian was right. Leo never asked her for the other number. If he really asked for it, things would not end so smoothly.

After sending her parents off, Vivian grabbed his arms and dragged him outside.

Feeling relaxed, Leo asked, “Honey, where do you want to go? Why don’t we take a day off and go on a date? We can go shopping, watch some movies, and eat some nice food!”

Vivian muttered softly, “We’re heading straight to the hospital.”

“Are you serious? Are we really going to get a checkup?”

Nodding her head, she answered softly, “It’s better for us to get a checkup. If there’s something wrong with our body, we’ll get our treatment done as soon as possible. If there’s nothing wrong, we’ll see if the doctor can provide us some useful suggestions. Come on, come with me, alright?”

Left with no choice, Leo could only accompany her to the hospital. Of course, he was getting a checkup as well.

In the car park, Eric Chou watched the couple leaving. Then, he followed behind them.

He had been stalking Vivian for several days, trying to find evidence of her cheating on Leo through her contacts.

What irked him was Vivian’s consistent daily routine. As though a perfectionist, she went to work and got off work right on time every day.

Other than going to the grocery store, there was nothing unusual about her. She never went to places such as bars and clubs.

Occasionally, she would go to the movies, go shopping, or go out for a meal, but Leo was always with her at time like this. Moreover, it was not like he could fabricate evidence of her cheating on Leo!

Eric Chou was frustrated. Instinct told him that Vivian was a faithful wife. There was no trace of her having an affair at all.

He felt helpless, unsure how to fabricate evidence of Vivian cheating.

Not long after, his phone rang.

“Eric Chou, Vivian’s family had already passed the security check. Han is keeping an eye on them, and I just left.”

The person who called him was one of his assistants. His boss assigned two assistants to help him out on this case. One of them was called Han, while another one of them was called Suzy.

Eric Chou assigned Suzy to track after Vivian’s family while Han was in charge of the follow-up.

After seeing Vivian’s family passing the security check, Han was allowed to leave, while Suzy would follow her family to Zwickau and stay there to do the further background check on them.

“Got it.” Eric Chou answered and hung up.

On the road, the traffic was at a standstill and the cars moved slowly. Eric Chou could not help but curse. Feeling bored, he turned on the radio.

After listening to some music, he felt his mood lightened up. Looking at Vivian’s car in front of him, he felt somewhat dazed.

After a while, his phone rang again. Frowning, he picked up impatiently. Immediately, Han’s excited voice sounded across the phone.

“Eric Chou, Vivian’s family didn’t board the plane. They sat at the VIP room for a while and sneaked out.”

“What?” Subconsciously, Eric Chou stepped on the brakes. Soon, sounds of screeching tires and honking started to ring out behind him.

Right away, Eric Chou hit the gas turned on his double signal.

“What do you mean? Be clear!”

“Vivian’s family did not board the plane. After passing the security check, they stayed in the VIP room for a while and left. I’m following after them now. They’re heading towards the taxi stand right now.”

“Alright, keep a close eye on them. Suzy and I will be there to assist you right away. Be careful. Don’t let them notice you!”

“Don’t worry, Eric Chou. They won’t be able to escape!”
