The boss's decision perplexed Eric Chou, and he tried to change his boss’s mind.
Unexpectedly, the boss solemnly instructed them to keep this matter strictly confidential. They were not allowed to disclose this piece of information to Sophie.
If Sophie asked about it, everyone should say that Vivian's family had returned to Zwickau and there was no problem with their identities.
Eric Chou couldn’t understand the boss’s decision, but there was nothing he could do to change his boss’s mind.
The boss then ordered him to continue to investigate Vivian. He was asked to obtain the evidence of Vivian's cheating even if he had to fabricate the evidence.
This made Eric Chou even more perplexed. He had no idea what the boss was thinking at all. There was obviously available evidence that they could use, but his boss insisted on fabricating the evidence instead. He really couldn’t understand what the boss was thinking.
However, he couldn’t defy his boss’ orders because his boss was the one paying his salary. His boss was a ruthless man, so he was not someone who they could defy or offend. Therefore, he had no choice but to continue to track Vivian.
Of course, Eric Chou had been scolding the boss secretly, thinking that he simply had too much free time on his hands. He even suspected that the boss was purposely making things difficult for him.
Just when he felt disheartened, the opportunity finally came.
On this day, he followed the Toyota car as usual, and found that Vivian didn’t go back home. Instead, she was heading to an affluent area.
Could it be that Vivian, who had been pretending all this while, could no longer hold herself back anymore?
This discovery instantly invigorated Eric Chou as he stared intently at the car ahead of him.
The Toyota car finally stopped in front of the door of a luxurious villa. Vivian got out of the car and rang the doorbell.
After a while, a middle-aged woman dressed in a servant costume, came to open the door and politely invited her into the house.
“Hello, Ms. Vivian!" A beautiful little girl came out of the villa and greeted her.
"Hello, Chloe!" Vivian greeted her with a smile.
The little girl ran over, took her hand and led her into the house.
This was a double storey villa. Walking in, she was greeted by a spacious living room. Around the living room, there were guest rooms, a sitting room, and a recreation room.
The sitting room opened out to an indoor garden with a fairly large fish pond which contained various colorful koi fish.
Planted around the fish pond were a variety of lush and colorful flowers.
The bedrooms and study room were mainly located on the second floor. There were probably seven or eight rooms in total, and a study room was specially arranged for Chloe.
The entire villa was well-decorated. Some rooms were luxurious, some were elegant and some were simple. Although each room had different styles, the size and materials used were the same, which showed the extraordinary taste of the owner.
Chloe was enthusiastically showing Vivian around the house, explaining to her the purpose of each room.
The servant beside interjected from time to time. She was treating Vivian so respectfully as if she were the lady of the house.
Vivian was not interested in these things at all. She was accompanying the little girl around the house only out of courtesy.
Taking a glance at her watch, she realized that half an hour had passed, and Chloe still had no plan to start the vocal music class.
Vivian could only ask implicitly, “Chloe, where are we going to have our lesson?”
Before Chloe could reply, the servant hurriedly replied, "Ms. Vivian, there is no hurry. You can play with Chloe for a while. I'll go and prepare dinner. Mr. Frank will be back soon. You can have dinner with them."
Through conversations, Vivian knew that the servant’s name was Harriet, and she had been working for the Frank Johnson's family for many years.
Vivian politely declined, "Madam Harriet, you’re being too polite. I’m not hungry. I think it’s better to start the lesson first!”
Then she said to Chloe, "Chloe, can you take me to the room where we would have our lesson?"
"Alright, Ms. Vivian. Let's go to the garden. I like to study there."
Vivian agreed with a smile and accompanied the little girl to the garden again.
After sitting down on the chair by the fish pond, Madam Harriet was busily bringing her coffee and fruits, which made Vivian felt that she was here as a guest but not as a home tutor.
After that, Madam Harriet went to prepare dinner again. Vivian finally breathed a sigh of relief and planned to quickly guide Chloe. And then went home as soon as possible.
There was still Leo at home waiting for her to feed him. Vivian liked to cook for her husband, and Leo also liked to eat the food she cooked.
After the doctor’s consultation, Vivian had ordered her husband that he must come home and have dinner after work every day. Moreover, he was not allowed to order takeaways. He had to eat the nutritious meals that she made for him.
They had already wasted quite a lot of time. If Leo went home early and got too hungry, he might start eating all kinds of unhealthy junk foods again.
She was eager to teach, but unfortunately, the little girl wasn't keen to learn.
Asking Vivian to be her home tutor was just an excuse to get close to her. Although the little girl sang well, she didn't really like vocal music at all. Therefore, one wanted to teach, but the other didn't want to learn.
Chloe only wanted to help her father to marry Ms. Vivian. Therefore, she only wanted to play with her and get close to her. As for whatever vocal resonance training, she had no interest at all.
It was inappropriate for Vivian to criticize or reprimand her in her house, so she can only play with her patiently.
Two hours had flown by like this. Taking a glance at the time, it was already past 7 p.m.
Vivian wanted to leave, but in the end, she stayed due to Madam Harriet’s effort and the little girl’s pitiful gaze.
What made Vivian felt strange was that she only saw Chloe and Madam Harriet in such a large house. Where was the lady of the house?
"Chloe, where is your mommy?" Vivian asked curiously.
The little girl instantly looked depressed. Then she replied in a sad tone with her head down, “Mommy had gone to heaven...”
Perhaps it was because they had the same experience, Vivian’s heart involuntarily ached with pity for her. She didn’t expect that Chloe’s mother had passed away.
Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but blame Ms. Rachel silently in her heart. Why didn’t she tell her such important information in advance? If she knew this, she certainly would not ask that question just now.
"I'm sorry, Chloe. I don't know about this. I shouldn't have asked you this question."
The little girl raised her head and looked at her with teary eyes.
"Ms. Vivian, do you like me?"
"Of course, I like you, Chloe. You are not only beautiful, but also sensible. I like you very much.”
“Then, Ms. Vivian, can you be my mother?”
Vivian couldn’t react to her words for a moment. She thought that Chloe was just joking. After hearing her words, she giggled and said, “Okay. I will be your mother. I will always love you.”
Chloe was ecstatic and called her “mommy” over and over again while holding her hands.
Vivian kindly agreed and hugged her gently in her arms.
She didn’t understand what it meant to be her mother at all. She thought that the so-called mother was the continuation and sublimation of their teacher-student relationship. However, she didn't know that the little girl actually wanted her to be her stepmother.
Vivian was overwhelmed by maternal instincts at this moment, and felt that what she was doing was right.
She was kind-hearted and had a similar experience with Chloe. For her, there was nothing more meaningful than helping her students.
“Mommy!” Chloe called out affectionately.
“Yes?”
“I am mommy’s good girl in the future. When daddy comes back, we will have dinner together as a family. Daddy will definitely like you very much.”
Vivian was stunned for a moment upon hearing her words. She only wanted to comfort Chloe, but forgot that there was still a man in the house.
When she quickly regained her sanity, Vivian began to blame herself silently.
If there were a lady of the house in this family, there wouldn’t be any problem for her to recognize Chloe as her god-daughter.
However, the fact was that this family didn’t have a lady of the house. There was only a lonely widower. In this case, it was obviously inappropriate for her to do it.
Once this thing was spread out, some people may think that she had some kind of ambiguous relationship with the man of the house.
Vivian was extremely fearful of such rumors now. The previous experiences was still deep in her memory. She couldn’t cause any more trouble now.
Thinking that, Vivian decided to leave immediately. She really couldn’t stay here any longer.
Chloe and Madam Harriet could only send her to the door as they couldn't persuade her to stay for dinner.
Just then, Frank got out of the Rolls-Royce that was parked in front of the villa, and walked toward Vivian.
“Ms. Vivian, you’re here. It’s a pleasure to meet you!”
Vivian looked at the man in front of her with confusion. She thought he looked familiar, but she couldn’t remember where she had met him before.
“You are?”
“I am Chloe’s father, Frank!”
It was only after Frank introduced himself enthusiastically that Vivian realized that he was Chloe’s father.
“Hello, Mr. Frank. Nice to meet you!”
“Ms. Vivian, are you going back now? It’s getting late. Why don’t you stay and have dinner together?” Frank politely tried to convince her to stay.
He received a message secretly sent to him by Madam Harriet and knew that there was a change of plan tonight. Vivian had insisted on leaving and Madam Harriet and his daughter couldn’t stop her. As a result, he had no choice but to show up earlier.
“Mr. Frank, I’m really sorry. I have an appointment with my husband, so I can’t stay for dinner. I hope you won’t mind.”
Vivian’s words made him unable to refuse her.
The reason was very simple. What reason did he have to stop her from meeting her husband? She was only his daughter’s home tutor, not Frank Johnson's family’s servant. Besides, she was doing this for free.
Frank nodded his head helplessly, and said regrettably, “I see. Then I won’t ask you to stay anymore. I’ll express my thanks to you another day, Ms. Vivian!”
Vivian hummed assent and opened the car door with the key.
Before she could get in the car, Frank quickly walked up and opened the car door for her. Placing his hand on top of the car door, he invited Vivian to get in the car like a gentleman.
Vivian frowned. Frank thought that it would help him to score points with Vivian, but actually what he did annoyed her.
Vivian clearly knew that one who was treating nice to you must be hiding evil intentions. She wouldn't have a good feeling about him just because of these actions. On the contrary, she will be more cautious around him.
