Chapter 34 Exchanging Cars

Once again, Leo praised Sophie on their meeting.

After the meeting ended, Sophie barged into his office and sat on his seat. Casting him a side glance, she gave him a vague smile.

Leo felt a little nervous. Anxiously, he asked, “Why are you looking at me like that? You look so evil. It’s scary!”

“F**k you. Leo, is there something bothering you?”

“Why are you asking me this question again? You should learn to become more optimistic. Otherwise, you might get depression!”

“Don’t worry. I won’t get depression so easily. Tell me, what exactly happened to you?”

“I told you I’m fine. Stop questioning everything. Be more positive!”

Sighing, Sophie tapped her fingers on the table, “Leo, I know you very well. You keep complimenting me these days. I’m sure there’s a reason for it...”

Speaking of which, she began to smile out of embarrassment.

“Come on, go ahead and finish your sentence!” Leo rolled his eyes at her, “What’s the big deal of complimenting you?”

Suddenly, Sophie slammed her fists on the table and shouted, “Leo, are you going to tell me the truth or not?”

Shocked, Leo turned his head to look at the lobby. Fortunately, nobody heard her. He looked at Sophie again and scolded her, “Are you crazy? Why are you shouting in the office?”

Unfazed, Sophie smiled and answered, “Hah, this is the Leo I know. I’m sure there’s something bothering you. Come on, tell me!”

Hesitating for a moment, Leo scratched his head and said, “Well, there is indeed something bothering me, but I’m not sure how to tell you this.”

“I knew it!” Sophie roared.

“Hey, can you keep your voice down? Don’t yell all of a sudden. You’re going to give me a heart attack!” Leo complained.

“Tell me what happened then.” Sophie said so softly that Leo could barely hear her.

After pondering for a moment, Leo made up his mind and said to Sophie, “Follow me to the parking lot. You’ll find out what happened.”

Looking at the dent on the car, Sophie was stunned.

“Did you get into an accident?”

“Yes!” Leo nodded furiously, “I ran into a tree.”

Turning on the flashlight on her phone, Sophie knelt down to examine her car. The more she looked at the dent, the more she felt something was wrong.

“Leo, although I don’t know a lot about cars, you can’t treat me like a fool. I don’t think you’ll get a dent like this by running into a tree!”

“I don’t know how it happened, but it somehow turned out that way. Don’t worry. I’ll get it fixed.”

“Someone kicked my car, huh?” Standing up, Sophie shone the flashlight on Leo’s eyes.

“Hey! Don’t do that!” Leo blocked the light with his hand and tried to dodge the light.

Sophie kept shining the flashlight at him. Unhappily, she asked, “Vivian did it, right? Did she take her anger out on my car?”

Leo took the phone away from her hands and turned off the flashlight before shoving the phone back into her hands.

“It’s not her. I was the one who did it. I was drunk, and I took it out in your car. It’s my fault. I’ll pay for the repair fees and compensate you!”

Letting out a hum, Sophie crossed her arms and asked coldly, “Compensate me? Tell me how you’re going to compensate me then.”

“How about this? Send your car to the service center, and I’ll pay for the repair fees. Besides that, I’ll pay you an extra amount of money. You can name your price.”

“Are you sure you can fulfill my request?”

“As long as you don’t ask me to keep you company, I’ll do anything!”

Sophie punched him on the arm, “That’s exactly what I want! I want you to keep me company! Otherwise, you buy me a new car!”

“Don’t be ridiculous.Hhhh.”

Sophie gave him a few more punches on his arm, and Leo smiled.

“You take my car then. We’ll exchange cars!” Sophie suddenly blurted out.

Stunned for a moment, Leo snapped back to his senses, “That’s all?”

“Yeah, that’s all. It’s either we exchange cars, or you buy me a new car. Choose one or the other!”

“But my car is a cheap one!”

“I like it. It feels very comfortable. I want to exchange my car with yours, is that alright?”

“Is it necessary for us to exchange cars?”

“Since I like you, I like your car too. Don’t you get it?”

“Be serious!”

“Alright. Since Vivian doesn’t feel comfortable with you driving my car, I want her to look at my car every day and keep annoying her! She can smash my car up if she wants to. I’ll buy you another car to annoy her!”

Hearing Sophie’s words, Leo did not know whether to laugh or cry. Instead of solving the problem, she was just trying to piss Vivian off.

At the end of the day, it was still Vivian’s fault. Sophie was the victim, so Leo could only put away his pride and apologize to Sophie.

“Sophie, don’t get angry at Vivian. I apologize to you on her behalf. Can you please forgive her for my sake?”

“I’m not blaming her. If it weren’t for you, I would call the police. It’s illegal to destroy other’s property. Do you know the legal standards of destroying other’s property?”

“Two thousand dollars!” Leo answered coldly.

“Yes, I can file a case just for two thousand dollars. She can be locked up for at least two years for this. Let’s see how arrogant she can be!”

Sophie was getting excited as she spoke. Suddenly, she noticed Leo’s face turning dark. Quickly, she said, “Forget it. I’m just kidding. I won’t report it to the police for real. But you have to pay for my repair fees!”

“Of course! I’ll send your car to the automobile sales service shop later, and I’ll make sure it’ll turn back to the way it used to be.”

“No way! We have to exchange cars. If you don’t agree to my request, you have to pay me an extra one million dollar other than paying the repairing fees!”

“one million dollar?!” Leo exclaimed, “Are you trying to blackmail me?”

“I’m not blackmailing you. Even if it’s all repaired, the value of the car will depreciate. I’m just trying to claim back the depreciated cost.”

“Well, I mean, is it possible to reduce the amount?”

“No. It’s either we exchange cars or you pay me the money.”

Knowing her stubborn character, Leo tried to persuade her, but it seemed like Sophie had already made up her mind.

He could not afford to pay so much money. Hence, he could only choose to exchange cars with Sophie.

Anyway, the issue was solved. But before he could heave a sigh of relief, Sophie walked to the other side of the car and kicked on the door violently.

Bang! A dent was formed on the right door of the car.

Shrieking, Leo could not help snapping at her, “Are you crazy? Why did you kick your own car?!”

“I’m angry, so I want to let my anger out on my car too. Why can’t I do it if she can do it?” Sophie answered coldly.

Furious, Leo shook his head. Pointing at the door, he uttered, “You’re the one who made this dent. I’m not going to pay for it!”

Leo ended up paying for two dents, but fortunately, it did not cost him a lot.

Leo sent Sophie’s car to maintenance. Sophie saw how stingy Leo was that day.

Instead of going to an automobile sales service shop, he drove the car to a normal repairing center.

Sophie mocked him, but he answered rightfully, “Didn’t you want to exchange cars? Now this car belongs to me. I can send it to whichever repair shop I want!”

The owner of the shop charged him eight hundred dollar to repair two dents and touch up the car’s paint.

These shops never use original car paints. The best paint they could offer was metallic paint. Before spraying the paint, the staff kept double-checking with Leo, “Boss, I’m going to spray it now!”

Generously, Leo answered, “Go ahead. As long as the color looks similar, it’s fine!”

After a while, all the staff in the shop gathered around the car.

Surprisingly, the color was very very similar. No one would notice the difference if they didn’t look closely.

Taking out their phones, the staff started taking photos of the car. They could boast and tell other friends that they repaired a Lamborghini now!

...

When Vivian was about to get off work, she received a call from Mr. Victor.

“Vivian, come out. I’m waiting for you in the car!”

Politely, Vivian answered, “Mr. Victor, is there something I can help you with?”

Mr. Victor was dissatisfied with Vivian’s attitude. How could she be so dim-witted? Was she trying to play dumb?

“Ms. Vivian, I thought I already informed you that I have something to discuss with you tonight. Don’t you remember?”

“That’s not what I meant. Of course, I didn’t forget. I’m just curious why we have to talk about work in your car.” Vivian continued to ask politely.

“Oh, I booked a restaurant so we can eat while we talk. I want us to get to know each other better. I sincerely want to help you out, Vivian.”

“Thank you for your care, Mr. Victor. If you want to talk about work, I think we can talk about it in the office. It’s not necessary for us to go to a restaurant.”

“So you mean you’re not coming?” Mr. Victor’s tone became solemn.

“Please don’t misunderstand, Mr. Victor. I just feel like it’s not appropriate for us to talk about work in a restaurant.”

Mr. Victor clicked his tongue. Vivian was so stubborn, yet he got nothing that he could use to threaten her.

He had no idea what to do now.

Knowing that Vivian would not get convinced so easily, he hung up the call helplessly. After getting out of his car, he walked towards the school angrily.

As soon as he reached his office, he called the music department, “I’m Victor. Ask Ms. Vivian to see me now.”

He had already made up his mind to give Vivian an earful when she came. Of course, he came up with a lot of reasons.

He was going to lash out at her for her poor teaching and poor lesson planning. Anyway, there was no fixed standard for such issues. As long as he felt like she was not doing her best, he could lash out at her as much as he wanted to.

Once Vivian started crying, he would pretend to comfort her and go with the flow then.
