Chapter 2 The Night Unwilling to Recall

The words on the paternity test were like sharp swords that pierced deep into Melina's eyes.

The little boy calling her mommy made her heart ache even more.

Yes, she did have a child.

But that was her boyfriend, Dorian Blackwood's child.

She had been in love with Dorian for seven years. The day she graduated from university, she slept with him.

She got pregnant after that. It seemed that she was blessed by heaven.

Because of the child, Madam Blackwood, who never liked her, agreed to her marriage with Dorian and promised to let them hold the wedding after the child was born.

However, she never expected that the child she had been pregnant with for nine months was a dead fetus.

Memories flashed back, and she recalled the night five years ago, the nightmare that she would never be able to get rid of in her life.

Having just finished giving birth, she knelt in front of Dorian's mother, just to take a look at the child.

"Madam Blackwood, where is my child! Please let me see the child!" Melina plead.

"Child? What are you talking about? He is dead! I've already had someone send him to the morgue!"

Madam Blackwood looked down at her and impatiently shook off her hand.

"How is that possible! The doctor said that my child is healthy! Every month, the prenatal examination is fine and there were no complications. How could the baby die?" Melina cried in disbelief. Seeing that Madam Blackwood wanted to leave, she quickly grabbed onto Madam Blackwood's leg.

"That's because of your bad luck! Who knows what kind of sin you have committed for your baby to be born dead. It was right that I didn't let you and Dorian get married. You're nothing but a jinx!"

Madam Blackwood said viciously. She took out a card from her pocket and threw it on the ground with her head held high.

Looking at Melina who refused to let go, she called the nurse over and got someone to tie Melina to the bed with force.

Looking at that panic-stricken face, Madam Blackwood got more impatient.

"Look at how miserable you are. It's no wonder the child died. Alright, I'm leaving. Here's 500,000. Take it as your nutrition fee. Stay away from my son from now on."

"No, Madam Blackwood! How could the child die! I clearly remember that in the operating room, the doctor said that he was very healthy!" Melina cried.

"Madam Blackwood... I beg you, let me take a look at the child. He is also Dorian's child."

Even if he was already dead, she still wanted to take a look!

But...

Melina's shout was stopped by the anesthetic.

When she woke up again, she had already left the private delivery hospital and returned to her home.

And her sister told her that Dorian had already gone abroad to study.

Having lost his child, he was very sad and he wanted to be alone, so he chose to leave temporarily.

During that month, Melina had truly experienced what it meant to be in hell.

Dorian could not be contacted. She ran to the hospital several times, and the doctor told her that her child was indeed dead. Plus, these children that had been abandoned by their parents were usually directly given to the medical school as specimens.

Abandoned?

How could she abandoned him?

What was more desperate was that the doctor told her that because she had a hemorrhage during giving birth, it might be difficult for her to get pregnant in the future.

Fortunately, when she was about to collapse, Dorian contacted her and told her that he would still be with her without a child.

But...

Why would this happen?

She clearly remembered that she heard the child's loud cry in the operating room.

"Mommy, don't cry. Are you unhappy to see me?"

A crisp child's voice pulled Melina back to reality. The little boy who called her mother was bouncing on his toes, clumsily wiping her tears with his chubby hands.

The baby's black pupils were too bright, and they were like a mirror that magnified his heart.

For certain reasons, Melina did not reject him. Instead, she raised her head and looked at Luther with a complicated expression.

Could he really be her child who had been "dead" back then?

But his father should not be Luther.

As if seeing her confusion, Luther pushed a document towards her.
