Chapter 14 Melina Was Injured

Because she had overslept, Melina directly asked for leave.

However, when she logged into the OA system, she discovered that her attendance record had already gone.

She called Tia, who was very surprised on the other side of the line.

"Melina, didn't you check your email? Your file has been transferred to the president's office. You are now the president's special assistant. Your working hours will align with the president's schedule."

Melina thought to herself, "The president's special assistant?"

"When did this happen?"

She hurriedly opened her company's email inbox and found that there was an email lying inside. The content was a job transfer notice.

Her administrative level directly went from the ninth to the third, and her salary also increased by three times.

For Melina who lacked money desperately, this was simply a blessing from heaven, but she also knew that a high salary meant a higher job requirement.

Seeing that the email was sent early in the morning, she quickly sent an email back to the president and explained why she did not go to work today.

Ten minutes later, Luther, who was sitting in the study, saw an email pop up in his mailbox.

That was right.

Melina's promotion was an order from him all along.

After what happened yesterday, Luther decided that he had to keep an eye on this stupid woman at all times. It was just so happened that she had met the minimum requirement to be his special assistant, so he waived the original three exams.

Since Melina asked for leave, Luther thought she'd better take a leave and spend some time with her son at home.

With a slight curve of his lips, he casually sent a booklist over.

[The Economist, Business Negotiation, Corporate Finance... Read these books within a week and take an exam...]

Looking at her superior's reply mail, Melina suddenly had an impulse to hit the wall. She wondered whether it was too late for her to resign now.

...

As Tia often said, there was a special characteristic of Melina, which was tenacity.

No matter the challenge, as long as she made up her mind to do it, then she would definitely succeed.

After consulting the family doctor, Melina led the little cutie pie Bennett to a bookstore to buy the books she had to study.

This was the first time Bennett came to the bookstore. His big eyes were full of curiosity, and his little face slightly flushed like he was nervous.

Since Melina was on leave anyway, she was not in a hurry. She accompanied him to slowly wander around floor by floor. Although the little fellow did not like to talk, his etiquette made it impossible for people to find fault with him. He knew that he had to put the book back in its original place, and he also knew that he had to cherish the book. He would also say thank you to the staff of the library in a low voice.

He was so sensible that it made people feel distressed.

It took a whole afternoon for the mother and son to buy all the books needed. In addition to those ones for work, she also bought a lot of graffiti books for Bennett and psychology books for herself.

Next to the bookstore was a shopping mall.

Seeing that Bennett was looking at the ice cream shop, Melina led him over.

Unexpectedly, she met an acquaintance again. Her younger sister and a bunch of little sisters were also in the ice cream shop.

Because Melina brought the baby with her, she did not want to cause trouble. She turned around and left, planning to buy it somewhere else.

However, things didn't go as planned. Vanessa directed several of her sisters and quickly stopped Melina.

"Oh, isn't this my dear sister?"

"What is this? Now that Dorian dumped you, are you going to be someone's second wife? Little boy, you have to be careful. The stepmother is always mean. They always bully the adopted sons."

Vanessa said exaggeratedly, her finger reaching out to poke Bennett's face.

Vanessa felt this child was quite good-looking, and his chubby face made her want to pinch it.

However, before her hand could touch the little boy, it was ruthlessly slapped away by Melina.

With a pattering noise, the bracelet on Vanessa's wrist broke.

"Melina! Are you insane? Do you know how much my bracelet costs?" Vanessa screamed.

"I don't know, and I don't want to know. It won't be more than 800,000. You're right. A stepmother is a bad person. Otherwise, she wouldn't have plotted against the daughter of the original wife and stolen her money."

"You! You slut!" Vanessa, who could not find a reason to refute, cursed. She raised her hand and swiped the broken jade bracelet at Bennett's face. She thought to herself, "No matter who this illegitimate child is, as the stepmother, Melina will suffer if the child is injured." Vanessa's heart was darker than ink.

Melina naturally would not let her son get hurt, but Vanessa's sisters also attacked her at the same time. She could only try her best to shield her son behind her.

"Tony!"

Along with the call of Bennett, the people who were protecting them in the dark immediately rushed over and subdued Vanessa and other women on the ground.

However, it was still a step late. Vanessa insidiously threw the broken pieces over.

In an instant, Melina's arms were streaked with blood.

The sight of the bright red deeply stimulated Bennett, and his little body trembled in rage!

"Bring her back!"

Whoever dared to hurt his mother had to be prepared to suffer his anger!
